Hi all,

Been doing plenty of research over the last couple of days and have narrowed down my selection to either a Fanatec GT3 RS V2 with elite pedals or a G27 with the GTeye spring.
I really like the Fanatec but is it really worth an extra $150? (I can get the G27 setup for $330 and Fanatec setup delivered is $482)
Also the only thing i will use this wheel for is GT6, and i am not looking at getting into iRacing etc. I have read that Fanatec has no native support in GT6 but G27 does so would this mean that the things that set the Fanatec apart from the G27 would deminish as i am only using it for GT6?
I am also open to alternatives but my budget is around the $500 mark so i have already ruled out the T500RS.
Cheers in advance

I can only say the G27 as i've never used a Fanatec wheel, but have absolutly no complaints on the G27.

You might be able to snag a T500 around the $500 mark, but the G27 is a solid wheel that goes great with GT!

To give you an answer, let me ask you three questions:
1. Will you be driving smooth consistent lines or are you interested in also drifting?
2. Do you want to be able to quickly and easily dial up/down the feedback strength on wheel (e.g. when racing open wheelers or vintage road cars)?
3. What sounds best? smooth forces but with quite a lot of damping or more abrupt forces with a bit of rattle but much less damped and therefore more agile movements?

P.S. I just wrote up my own experiences comparing the Fanatec GT2 (same internals as GT3 RS but with extra XBox360 compatibility) with the T500RS and the G25 in the T500 thread on this site.

The g27, and g25 are a bit different internally. Though still gear driven, it is smoother and less abrupt and rattley. The g27 is also a more reliable wheel from what I understand. but if your paying $330 bucks for a g27 your getting way ripped off. Unless that is in Euro and not USD. You should be able to find a new g27 right around $220, thats what I paid brand new off Amazon. That, with the GTeye spring makes for a great wheel setup. Build a nice rig for it and you will be happy. I also think that there are more upgrades/mods for the g27 than most other wheels as well, if your into that.

if your budget is around 500 I'd try looking for a T500. here's one for 400 bucks brand new - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Thrustmaste...US_Video_Game_Controllers&hash=item3f2d0555a5

anyways, I've personally never tried a fanatec but I feel like it's a little overpriced because of that Porsche logo on it. My first wheel was a G25 and it was awesome, so G27 would be great and I'd definitely recommend it after the T500. paying 330 bucks for a G27 is a HUUUGE rip off though.. those wheels go for like 200 now. I sold my G25 for 150 on craigslist.. a little under the market value but I needed it gone

Where did you get the price on the Fanatec? The GT3 RS v2 with CSR shifter and elite pedals is $259.

Exactly what I was thinking.

It's pretty much the same as CSW vs T500rs: around the same level of performance and price range, it just comes down to what a person's preferences are. I have a GT3 with Clubsports and the belt drive and load cell were significant selling points with my choice. I can see how lower drag with the G27 could be a sticking point for some though.

Thanks Skazz for reply,
1. I wont be doing any drifting or much rally for that matter
2. Never really thought about it but as this is my first wheel not too concerned
3. The second option sounds more for me. But again as its my first setup i am willing to explore anything really

Hi Zathra,

I would of jumped on that bundle but i'm in Australia. Been emailing Fanatec and they wont match the EU shops pack so that leaves me with base bundle or $482 for the elite pedals. In my research i have assummed pedals are just as important if not more than the wheel thats why i was going for the elites.
I'm also struggling with sub $300 G27's from Aus stores including online ones. For returns and warranties i wanted to stick with Aus stores.
Being in Australia i am struggling getting the T500 down too. $550 is cheapest i have seen. As i am just getting into the whole wheel experience i didnt really want to over-commit too much.

Thanks all for the input,

With the split decision i ended up going with the cheaper G27. Being a first wheel i reckon it should do the job for a while until i decide to upgrade.
On a different note as this is my first forum experience i must say it was very informative and an allround great experience. This speaks volumes for the gtplanet fan base in my humble opinion. I will definately be coming here in future for any other GT info i am chasing or advise. Much appreciated.

The G27 is a good choice.

Most of the fast drivers I know on GT5 use G27's and some even use DFGTs. Some have tried more expensive wheels, but there doesn't appear to be any lap time advantage in GT games from using them.

I highly recommend a wheelstandpro. It's a stand that you can mount your G27 on. Super sturdy and compact, the best you can get. I'd give you a link but I'm on my iPad, just google it.

And I recommend not double and triple posting like you did. Posting 2 times in a row is looked down upon here. You can quote and reply to more than one person.

Enjoy the forums!
