and welcome tim
sorry for the late welcome

it sasy you live i cali. go find an old one. around cali. there are some. i found some AE86's in my area (Los Angeles)

I guess people don't do conversions on their Hondas from FWD to RWD because most of the buyers here aren't really familiar with cars or they don't want to void the warranty. There are more muscle car fanatics here than import fanatics. Over here, people only care about what the quarter mile time is and nothing else. That's why drifting is starting to grow here. It's something new and they want to know more about it.

lol, There was this video I downloaded where a guy put a GT-R badge on his Ford Mustang, which is like a pony car here in the States. What a dumbarse.

Yeah, that was the one. That made me fall out of my chair when I was watching it. That guy doesn't know what he's talking about

heh, I think GTP has a chatroom, but no one ever uses it.

In California, it's not that extreme. The typical ricer over here usually puts those loud mufflers on their cars, try to put as many stickers on their cars as long as they have space on it, lower it, put a big sound system in it and have a lot of flares on their car's body. They also dye their hair brown, baggy pants, listen to rap and gel their hair to the extreme. There could be some more, but that's how I define one.

[edit]
Some of the ricers here also like to play Counter-Strike and paintball. There may be more qualities that I can think of, but I'll think of them as soon as they come to my head.

omg, i know we have it bad here in detroit with riceboys, but cali has to be worse. I'm gonna start another thread with a webpage that everyone will love ;)

A Saab... I don't think I've seen one... Seems like a luxury car brand.

Yes, they're a sister company of Volvo. Kinda like Nissan & Infiniti, only a little more separated (actually recently they split up and Volvo is owned by Ford and Saab is owned by GM). Anyway, the 9000 Turbo which is what I had was a 2.3L Turbo 4-door hatchback, weighed 3800 lbs. I had very light modifications: aluminum flywheel, copper/kevlar clutch, k&n, vacuum/pressure hoses, bypass valve, etc. Nothing too serious except the few times that I cranked up the boost.

I want to see pictures of these morons. If you can, post them on the "I Need a Ae86" post.

I lost interest in that thread a long time ago :P

3S-GTE is pretty nice, are those very easy to find over there? They're impossible to find here... Hahah, have you seen that guy with the 20b in his 86? That's rediculous! Almost too much, if there was such a thing. Are highway battles very common over there? I see the occassional clip but nothing to indicate how often it actually happens. I'm not talkin like US-style stock Integra vs stock 240, I'm talkin 180+ mph battles.

ive seen a 1J and 2JZ GTE's put in 86's

I've installed several 1JZ-GTE's in some AE86's. Only one 2JZ. Those engines are too big and in that car, it completely screws up the weight balance, so all the people I know that installed that engine in the AE86, use it on the highway. But that's not the sickest transplant, the 20B Rotary is. That car was on T.V. and they showed him take off on the highway (they were cruising at 100km/h I think) and he just vanished. That is the fastest AE86 that I know of, but then again, my dad's car could be also. But that's something I'll never know.

That's the same thing I saw on T.V. a while ago. I wish that video was in better quality so I can understand what the hell they were saying. It's fast... really, really fast...
