hi im just starting with gt4 and am loving laguna seca. i was there for the historic races in 2000 and i cant believe how realistic the game is.

my favorite cars there are the lister and the lancia rally car. i do between a 1.40 and 1.30 using super soft tires and no driving aids. only thing i dont like is i can go off track, make an unrealistic short cut and not get dq'd.

what is the correct line, break points, etc?

To be truthful, I can't tell you when to brake and the correct racing lines. Whenever I race, I use my gut to win a race.

Dude, your original thread was moved and there was no need to create a 2nd thread with the same topic title.

It's still sitting there.....I'll put it in here to even guide you more easily to it, it says moved on the front page.

If you've got a question about lines and that, check the GT4 Race Reports forum and to help make it faster, go to the tuning & settings area. :)

As for your question, there's plenty of tracks where you can be penalised for going off and hitting cars.....try the Special Conditions races. My choice would be Costa Di Amalfi for Tarmac, Swiss Alps for Dirt & I love both Chamonix & Ice Arena....snow drift on GT4 is so much fun when you get it right.

Do a search on "penalty" and you'll get more anwsers to what I'm talking about. Remember, search engine is your friend on here so use it wisely. :)

Mafs!!

Welcome here. The fact that you don't use driving aids seperates you from most so-called "newbies"...you obviously have some experience and/or knowledge of cars and the game.

Disqualification isn't gonna happen in races or during time runs. The fact that sand naturally slows you down and will ruin your lap times should be a deterrent to keep you staying on-track as much as possible. Trust me on this...you'll get better times when you're staying on the course.

So far as braking points and such...this is difficult to say. As you know, they'll be different for every car....you need to do lots of driving to find the best lines & points. 👍 Go on YouTube...there are plenty of examples of folks racing at Laguna Seca (in real-life and the game).

Also, you may notice (if you are using the standard screen and not the simple one) that the game actually tells you when to start braking by making a red number above your gear selection start to blink. This indication is often wrong, but if you're totally clueless, it may be a good place for you to start.

....but eventually you should ignore the braking/gearshift indicator. As i said, it's usually way off, and you'll get better times thru better, more intuitive driving.

Its nice to see you have started out without using the driving aids, its not a common occurance and i only stopped using them altogether a few weeks ago.

As for the racing lines and braking points, you can usually see a black strip on the track, this is caused by all the other cars who all race on that particular area, they were already in the game, but it does show you where to aim for, and with the braking points? This is more about your connection with the car than it is about anything else, i tend to get a good feel of the car on the test course or the begginer course before i go out and race competitively, but if you dont have the time, or cant be arsed, just floor it until your brain starts screaming! Dont worry, it will happen!

Good luck, and always keep trying, no corner is too difficult. Not even the corkscrew!

Personally I find the corkscrew one of the easiest and most fun corners in the game. Basically, brake the little 3 or 2 marker on the side of the road
