i hope they do have formula 1 cars in GT5. If they can have real street, touring, and race cars, why can't they have formula 1 cars? As someone said before, sony has the liscensing for F1 so they should make use of it

I would like to see:
-m.schumacher's 2003 or 2004 car
-senna's mclaren from the late 80's (since the fo94/s is represented in GT3, but the real williams renault would be cool)
-one of mansell's cars
-hakkinens 1998 mclaren
-one of the old lotus'
-one of the 6 wheel cars
-a couple of the cars from the 60's during the early days

or PD could even have the ten 2004 or 2005 teams in it --> at least renault, mclaren-mercedes, toyota, BAR honda etc. The ferrari would be a bonus since they don't have the liscensing from them.

I'd like to see the tracks in there. It kills me to not have any F1 circuits to race on. I dont mind how they have named the F1 car and only have one there. But they could at least give us the tracks as accurate as possible. :) That'd be so awesome. :)

Actually, there are two F1 circuits in GT4. Monaco and Suzuka, hello?

In addition to Monaco and Suzuka, they should include some tracks as special tracks only in the formula 1 championship or some race with high performance race cars such as:

Monza
Spa- Francorchamps
Silverstone
Hockenheim before the change (I hate new Hockenheim)
Imola

older tracks like:
Circuito de Herez
Adelaide (sp.)

Fuji International Speedway used to be a Grand Prix (haven't played GT4 but I think that track is in the game)

Of course, it isn't necessary to include all of the courses, just 2 or 3 of the above would be sufficient.

This years BAR Honda has 990 bhp, but I'm sure that they'll be past the 1000bhp barrier when GT5's released.
Next year the f1 motor will be V8 of 2400 cc

Probably this will reduce power

they'll more than likely put this year's McLarens or Renaults if anything.

I really really doubt them putting in the F1 '06 cars. if it's the same year the game will come out.

im sure that they can manage at least 3 F1 circuits as well as suzuka and monaco, i also think that the nurburgring Gp track is a must and also have it as the extension to the nordschleife

agree with the above post.

That drove me nuts driving the F1 championship, having to try and run the formula cars with only medium tires around the nurburgring and le mans. Two laps and pit... for two and a half hours! Those are the bumpiest damn tracks in the game and no matter what I did to my suspension it was still almost impossible to drive in A-spec. If your going to include formula 1 cars, make the championship on formula 1 tracks, or at least comparable tracks! I liked the Tokyo street course among other original tracks for the formula cars but some of those races were next to impossible!

It might be good if they could include the Brabham-Alfa BT46B. Its the one with the big fan on the back thats supposedly create stacks of ground effect downforce. So much so that they banned it after one race. They could probably also recreate all the dirt this fan chucked out at the driver behind.

that goes with what i was saying in the track thread a while back.....have the GP track and then in another version include the Südschliefe with the original start/finish position.....that would make for a total of 5+ different Nürburgring configs  .........must......have.......

i also would really love to have Monza complete with banking and the 10km config.....for the 10km, we would have to be able to drive the F1 cars of the 60's.......my favorite era in F1........

is there a significant difference between the cars in formula-One and Indy series?

:ouch: YES!!!!! indy=left turn, F1= road circuits

the aerodynamics are insanly advanced on an F1 car when compared to an indy car.....same goes for about everything else on F1 cars.....lol.....

i saw a site once that compared the technical aspects of the 3 main open wheel series (F1, CART, Indy) but i cant find it now.....

not by much, with a shorter crankshaft and less rotating mass the engines will be able to rotate even faster

race day engines have always been there or thereabouts 1000bhp. engines used the qualifying (back in the good old days when they didnt have to use the same ones) they would be up as high as 1600bhp, taking the risk of extensively more power against reliability.

id like to see silverstone in the next GT as its reputedly one of the best driving circuits on the planet.

Well i'll be glad as long as PD can accurately make which ever F1 cars they put into the game. Our FGT 04' really kicks the bum out of the current F1's used in real life. People can dip under 1'10 at Monaco and we have the tighter and harder track to drive on compared to the slightly faster post 04' track in the pool complex area.

One thing I wish they would do is if the car never came with certian things, like driver assists then the car shouldn't ever be able to be equipped with it.

I doubt SONY will make use of the F1 liscens like that. It would take away from their sales on the main F1 title, which they don't sell in the US/NTSC markets but everywhere else.

I have a thing for 1960s F1 cars like in "Grand Prix Legends." I don't have that game, but apparently the year is 1967, and you're piloting these beautiful old race cars with skinny tires. From when I played the demo with a choice of a few different cars and Watkins Glen, it was pretty interesting to have to wrestle around with fast (in their day) cars on skinny tires. If PD really wants to get into the nitty gritty of vintage racing, they'd include some of the old F1 cars even before F1 was even coined. I can imagine having that six-wheeled Tyrell as a Prize Car you can win. My next question, then, would be if actual F1 teams will want to actually be in GT4. It would be interesting to see the companies in GT games to have their F1 cars represented (if any). Examples of teams who created F1 cars or F1 motors would include Ford (actually Cosworth), Honda, Renault, Mercedes-Benz, Peugeot, Audi, Alfa Romeo, just to name a few.

Outside of F1 cars and on to one-make customer single-seaters. A nice One-Make series race would be if Suzuki featured their Formula Hayabusa. I think I had it in my [only] volume of Import Tuner which featured the Formula Hayabusa. It's a bit of $30K that could do 175. In fact, many of the single-seater open-wheel makers should have some of their machines represented. You know, Star Mazda, Formula BMW (such a thing?), Formula Nissan, Formula Holden, all-out.

But to sum up my calls for open-wheelers, mostly 1960s F1 cars, single-seaters from even before "Formula One" was even coined. Dig? Good.

I'd love to see real F1 cars from both the past and present in GT5. Some of Juan Manuel Fangio's and Ayrton Senna's cars would be good as well as all the innovative Lotuses.

Yeah it would be great to have all F1 teams in GT5, but if not, Sony can atleast release their annual F1 game in North America, like Fifa.

Right now there's nothing for us except EA Sport's F1 Career Challenge 03, and even that's hard to find. :indiff:

just my thoughts on things....F1 power will actually go down over the next few years...as they are goin back to 2.5L v8's - higher redlines at around 20,000rpm.....but the 2 cyc and 500cc difference is too much to bridge...at least for now untill they have a few years development

i think that on GT5 we should be able to change the tires on the F1 car and be able to put slicks and wet tires on! This is because i wpould like there to be weather so it rains in the middle of a race and you can got into the pits and change the tires. On 24 hour events i wouild the like the day to go to night!

I think PD should have F1 cars from 80s era to present day, with real teams such as Ferrari, BMW Williams, Mercedes-McLaren, etc. Also why not Formula 3??? :dunce:

Good idea, but it might take focus away from all the other cars. Just think, if there are loads of F1 cars no one will bother with the other cars

Not quite true. I hardly used F1 cars in GT3 and only use it in GT4 for B-Specing endurances. I'd rather try my luck with a road car. 👍

I would definitely drive a 1500hp F1 car. Who needs driving aids anyway? :dopey:

I'm okay with fictional Formula race cars. I don't want the real deals all the time.

By the way, I don't think F1 cars make 1,500 hp. Not even the Toyota makes that much. I heard about 1,000 or 1,050 of the Toyota engine. I guess I can speak for a lot of Gran Turismo gamers that many would rather race something like Formula race cars than a Kei car race or a Beetle Cup one-make race. Not every formula race car is fast. The 1950s and 1960s race cars barely made it up to maybe 120 mph. You can't exactly tell me that every F1 car is fast.

I don't have 100% or won the 24 Hours at the Nurburgring as of this date, so that means that I don't have the F1 racer. I had the F090/s or whatever it's called, also the 1986 F1 racer. I kind of wished I had the F094/h, the more "recent" one in GT3. I would like a combination of lower-level series all the way up to the big dogs in F1. I think TOCA RD 3 is going to feature Formula 3, so it's the best first taste of these machines we'll normally get. Even then, are you going to play the next GT just to get to the F1 cars and take the easy way out of races? Or are you willing to commit to playing all the way through the game trying to unlock as many cars as possible and win as much as possible.

No. This issue isn't about "is this going to take away from other cars," this is about how committed certain GT gamers are concerning the next GT. It's a question of commitment for me that has nothing to do with getting an F1 car to easily win over all sorts of competition. I'm saying "formula race cars" because not every open-wheeler are F1 racers. So a nice mix of F1, F3, Indy, Champ Car, and such would be a nice deal. I don't care for the big name teams as fantasy cars are perfectly fine with me. Just keep the good times rolling, PD.
