I found it amusing that the Wings spoiled the Blackhawks banner raising night.

Work needs to hurry up and get the dates out for which we can buy discount tickets to Wings games so I can get back down there. Watching hockey at the arena is so much better then watching it on TV, at least for me. I just wish Wings' tickets weren't so expensive.

I agree, there's nothing like being at the arena. But I am a hockey nut, and sometimes I would rather stay home and watch 3, 4, 6, 10 games. Center Ice is the best thing ever.

I think I like both equally. While going to a few games a year is great, watching them at the bar with a bunch of friends while trash talking each other the entire time is just as good for me.

In other news. Phil Kessel is still outscoring Crosby and Malkin combined :)

And yet is only tied with Ovechkin :sly:. It was a bad first game, but I'd say they were back on form for the second.

Ya watching hockey at a bar is fun, but only if you go to the right bar. Most of the places around here would rather playing crap music at levels that would rattle the fillings out of your teeth. And these are just the "sports bars". The ones that do actually cater to sports are lame as hell unless it's the playoffs.

I totally forgot it was Columbus Day! I missed the Isles game, Ducks game is at 2nd intermission, and nearly missed the Pens game. I expected a 7pm game, not a 4pm game.

3-0!

Sorry pens, you'll have to get your first home win when the Leafs aren't in town.

Seriously, it took them well into November to get three wins last year, this team is for real.

4-0

Seriously, pinch me, it still feels like a dream.

I don't think Clarke MacArthur can keep us his torrid pace, as this streak really came out of nowhere...but for now, him and Kessel are tearing things up.

The biggest difference between this team and last year's team is the upgrade in goaltending, Toskala was so horrible for them, and the solid duo of Giguere and Gustavsson is owning right now.

Also the speed, this is one of the fastest skating teams I have watched in a long time.

Uggh. It's players like MacArthur who make the Leafs hard to hate now... How the hell can I hate a career journeyman who's scoring like Ovechkin?

Did you hear that?

That's the sound of the hopes of Leafs Nation falling back down to Earth.

:sly:

Yeah the Leafs Nation is not happy today.. But something of the "What the hell were you thinking, man?!" portion of the show...

Did anyone see the what happened at the Minnesota Wild game yet? A Vancouver Player grabbed a fan (:odd:) because the fan was CLAPPING because the player was being sent to lockers for the night. Somebody is in trouble with the NHL! --- Randy

4-0-1 isn't too shabby, I'm still mapping out a parade route. They'll take down the Rags tomorrow so I'm not too concerned.

Agreed, the Leafs still managed to get 9 out of a possible 10 points so far this year. For a team which finished second last in 2009-2010, that's pretty great.

I think the Habs are gonna have to fire Jacques Martin, that's all there is to it. He's decided that since Moen-Gomez-Gionta didn't work, putting a career 3rd liner (Tom Pyatt) on that line will help.

Seriously, there's Benoit Pouliot who is at least a top 6 forward for a few games at a time, there's Lars Eller who needs ice time, there's Max Pacioretty waiting in Hamilton...

I'm just baffled at his decisions.

Gomez just seems like a massive disappointment since he left NJ to me.

I can't support any team with Hal Gill on it though.

Speaking of worthless players, here's a pic of Kyle Wellwood.

Tell me about it. We have this clown for 4 more years (after this one!) at 7.8 million. The other one is Gionta at 5 milion for 4 more... Brutal. I hope Lars Eller develops as a 2nd line centre sooner rather than later, and we can see about getting rid of Gomez... or just bury him in the minors next year and sign a real centre.

@ Wellwood, here's an article you may enjoy :)

Habs win 3-0 with a shutout :)

Great shutout by Carey Price, he only faced 20 shots, but he had some quality chances against and made some great saves. However, to complicate things, Halak also got a shutout last night too O_o. What are the odds?

Perhaps even more surprising than Price's great start (because I was expecting him to be fine), is the great start out of the gate by Andrei Kostitsyn. He's got 6 points (4G and 2A) through 7 games, and he's been playing hard for the first time in what seems like forever.

Edit: Habs first in the east? What?

Well, the leafs are back to being the Leafs again.

I'm still thinking playoffs, but this looks like a whole different team than from the first 5 games.

Same with my team, the Habs are back to being the Habs. WE're back to losing games 3-1, 2-1, 2-0, because they simply can't score. Gomez and Gionta are useless, Jacques Martin keeps shuffling fourth liners in to try and spark them (while there's a perfectly capable Lars Eller on the third line), and the Defense sucks. I'm thinking this team will be just like the Habs of the last ten years, fighting for 8th place at the end of the season.

Can't score...check.
AHL/4th line players skating with top line...check
Losses in low scoring games...check

Interestingly enough, as soon as Wilson stopped demoting Bozak to the 4th line the other night vs. the Caps, the Leafs put up 3 goals in 3 minutes, with Bozak scoring the first and playing a big part in another..

I'm not usually one of those blame the coach guys...but I ****ing hate Ron Wilson. He seems far more concerned with disciplining his players and making examples out of them than he is about actually winning games.

Sounds like they've got a lot in common this year.

Capitals are back to their way of playing, lossing most the game then coming back in the last few minutes to win. It's nice when they win, but the whole thing of waiting 'til the end isn't always fun.

Jacques seems to think it's a great idea to scratch Lars Eller and put Dustin Boyd (career 3rd liner) with Gomez and Kostitsyn. His logic just baffles me.

I'm intrigued to say the least, should make for a (slightly) more interesting all-star game.

All-Star voting has opened up over on NHL.com. Some obvious players and some "WTF are they on here" players. It's going to be interesting.

I raged at the all star voting ballots. They put Mike Cammalleri and Brian Gionta on the ballot, but not Tomas Plekanec? Garbage. Tomas Plekanec is without a doubt the best player with the Habs right now, and to say Gionta and Cammalleri are better is just absurd.
