Check your Nissan used lots again, if you get the chance. Two cars are parading around as the 240SX Fastback Type X (sort of like To Tell The Truth).

One of them looks like the other '96 Fastback Type S, but has more horsepower.

But the other looks suspiciously like a 180SX (look at Nissan's new lot in GT1)...or the 240SX sold between 1988-1994 (if you live in North America).

They also claim the same power rating (201hp), but one of them changes to 195hp in your garage.

Now we have another PD goof-up.

Well, the 2 fastback's can be told apart from one another- the better one has a larger rear spoiler. PS, if you are wondering about it...go buy it, it will be in my Weekly race sometime. Probably the race after next week's.

I wish I owned a 240SX..... :(

There's this guy that drives one...taunting me >_<

Here's what his car looks like...

Mmmmm......a very good tuner car. Especially since once you get enough money, you could drop a RB26DETT in there quite easily I bet, since the Skyline was based off the S14 240SX. And then you have near infinite horsepower  . My 2nd choice as a car I want for my sweet-16 in real life, behind-you guessed it- S13 240SX. :) Both of which are closely followed by a 300GT VR4....but VR4's are pretty expensive. So what's my second car? None other than an Esprit, of course. :D

so, you'd rather have an S13 than a VR4 or an Esprit?
i'm Cobalt Blue Metallic 1987 Porsche 944S hunting...

Hell no I wouldn't it's just that I could get an S13 for under $7,000. The least I could find a good VR4 (the other 3000GT models are weak compared to it) or an Esprit would be at least $15,000. Prolly more for teh Esprit, plus the probable insane insurance....

Oh, and Massy..................I won't get an Exige/Elise until they either A) become road legal (the '95 ones, mind you) or B) I can friggin afford one.

I like the 3kGT's styling, but I hate it's HEAVY weight.....I mean, how much does it weigh? 3600lbs.+? I'd take an Evolution V, VI, 6.5 compared to a 3kGT VR4, MR.....but that's just my opinion....

I'm in the market for a 240/S13-14, myself...the Neon is dying on me (although 7 years and 200k miles will do that to any car).

Why a 240? I don't need 300hp, just enough to pass slow cars on the highway, but can be found in an auto (stick garners me too many tickets). I'd like an FR car because it's something different, and the car should be relatively simple to maintain.

It's something different (no loger sold on these shores...sadly), a 2-door with enough back-seat to haul stuff, and a useable trunk.

I like the body kit on that red 240 (above), and it's very, very rare that I say that!

One other thing, the VR4 Mitsus have a lotof maintentence. My car before the Neon was an Eagle Talon TSi (same as the Eclipse).

Lovely car, but maintenence alone was putting me in the poor-house! It was either 1) sports-car but live at home, or... 2) get an economy car and get a life. I chose 2, because you can't put a price on youth and fun!

And the Neon was a lot of fun for the dough; eater of stock Civics and Cavaliers anyhow.

Yeah, that's what I've heard. I was considering a 2nd-gen Eclipse GS-T, but Mitsus aren't all that reliable, and for a poor kid like me I can't spend a thousand bucks a year on repairs.

isn't that the original body for the 240?

Nope, that's a 95/96 with aftermarket spoiler, skirts, and front end for sure. Most likely rear end's been changed out too.

It can be done, but there's a lot of cutting & welding involved! It's not a drop-in swap. Also, the Skyline's R-chassis is most definitely NOT based on the S-series chassis used in the 95+ 240SX. :)

Yes, it's not that easy. I'm sure there would also be much reinforcing of the chassis and body to withstand the power and torque of the RB26DETT. But if you want to put one in any car, IMO, the S14 is the one to do it in.

Yup, that and the RWD are why I got my S14... :) I get asked all the time "Is that a Skyline?"
