So long as it hits it's Cayman target, or at least drives with the spirit of the S30, I'll be fine with it no matter how it looks.

Porsche... Nissan... Porsche... Nissan... call me a snob, but I'd still prefer to have the Porsche on my driveway. I'm sure the 370Z will be an excellent car, but even excellent might not be good enough to tempt people away from their Caymans, unless the price seriously undercuts the Porsche.

Meh. Once we're talking about performance coupes of that calibre I'm not as bothered about tuning and aftermarket. I do agree that current 350Zs look much better with a good Nismo kit on, for example, but I think I'd be happy keeping a Cayman as Porsche intended :P

Please, don't tempt me....

Naw, just joking. You're not really a badge snob...I have learned the traits in GT-R/R8 Debates over the past few months.

I don't know how much the new Z will cost...or how heavy that big-bore V6 in the nose is. It might be really light, with those big holes in it.

Furthermore, How will this one look in Midnight Blue, with Black and Silver Wantanabes....

I see what you did there, Jim.. :sly:

But.. I really don't see FI in this car. Nissan claims that the car is lighter, and slapping on turbos would nullify that.. in worst case, it would possibly worsen the weight distribution. In addition, word is that it would have 7-speed flappy paddle auto, which is interesting since Porsche just came out with theirs. If Porsche would give Cayman proper differential and that (hold your laugh) Porsche Doppel Kupplung, it could probably trounce both the Z AND base 911.. which can not happen.

Yeah but you don't care about interior, so it shouldn't matter....

Interior quality doesn't bother me much, and generally interior design doesn't bother me much either, but when it's that goofy looking (IMO), I'd stay away from it. I would like to see this car in person, I get the feeling these pics aren't doing it justice.

so motortrend says the G37 sedan hits 60 in 5 seconds flat. it weighs in at 3700lbs, about 600 more than what the Z will supposedly weigh. interesting.

There may be a larger aftermarket for the Z, but what it makes it any better than Ruf, TechArt, RennSport, Sharkwerks, etc.?
Widespread support and likely less damaging to the pocket book.

So? All the tuners/companies I listed have widespread support from their customers & Porsche owners. Price, however, has zero effect to who has the better aftermarket tuner.

I a DIY type of guy, and I'd like to be able to tune a car myself. To tell you the truth, the Porsche has this solidity to it. I just wouldn't be able to feel right about tinkering with it; I'd leave that to the professionals. I don't know if you'll understand what I'm saying.

I understand what you're saying - and it's exactly the reason I'd have the Porsche. It's been built to exacting standards and really you'd have to spend a lot of money improving on it. The Nissan is much more a blank canvas for tuning - there will always be things that people want to improve, and the aftermarket caters nicely for that.

coilovers and a supercharger

Does the semi-auto shifter mean anything to anyone, or have I just been unaware of the upcoming transmission options?

I've heard it will be a 7 speed auto shared with the G37 or the dual clutch from GTR. My money would be on the the 7 speed.

I thought Nissan was jumping on the "dual clutches in every car!" game like VW and BMW too?

Does look more "dynamic" now and less flabby than before - those are some seriously flared arches. The front looks tidier too. Not sure about the rear lights though, or the rear in general. Still an improvement over the 350Z.

Very nice 👍 A real improvement over the 350Z which always looked a little stylistically heavy handed to me.
