Since the various Nissan threads we've got can hardly garner more than a couple pages of interest, and the last Armada facelift got two comments worth of interest, I think it's high time we centralize Nissan news like we've done with Infiniti. And this time we've got big news! Literally massive news, as in full-size SUV news, because of course giant off-road trucks are what the people want these days. In other parts of the world this is actually rather important news!

The 2025 Nissan Patrol/Armada has been unveiled with a twin-turbo V6, and in North American an off-road ready Pro-4X trim level. A welcome change since technically the Armada has always had off-road chops, it just wasn't hardcore enough to compete with the added equipment that every other manufacturer offered. The Toyota Sequoia always suffered from this problem as well, but now the Nissan Armada is in the running again, competing against the Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro, upcoming Ford Expedition Tremor, and Tahoe Z71.

Autoblog article.

Side note: These are some of the worst press photos I've ever seen. Like they were taken for a high school photography class or something.

Anyway, they're kind of leaning into the Patrol thing but not much. There is 1951 badging on the truck, and the little grille accents that are retro, but they couldn't go as far as changing the name to Patrol. Besides that, it's a Nissan. Best part about it is probably that higher clearance front bumper which is a great idea.

The funny part is that some of the photos were taken at the same location as the Wagoneer press photos

Nissan: Hey fam, we got a new car coming out and need ideas on press photos
Stellantis: Sure thing, just don't copy too closely

Honestly that was probably an efficient trip for both companies. They rented the house not only for shoots but for the crew to stay in while they were shooting.

Clearly it was Nissan's photographer's first time out of the house.

I guess this can go here until we get more news
The news came from Nissan’s Vice-President of Global Product Strategy, Ivan Espinosa, who revealed the company was in the early stages of development. As the affordable small sports car market teeters on the brink of extinction, the prospect of a new Silvia slotted below the Z sounds fantastic.
I've been wanting that iDX for the longest. Hope it's really happening.

I think they could use the Silvia name in the US and market its history and it would end up being pretty popular. The small sports car market is alive and well, they just have to accept the fact that it won't have the margins of an Altima.

Yeah this thing is not quite right. I'm not a fan of its side profile either although it's to be expected these days. That fascia could've been done better I think, and the style works pretty well on the Kicks.

Whatever, I'm usually going to be inside them as rental cars so I'm not too bothered.

Nissan Frontier Pro, a rebadged Nissan Dongfeng Z9

The brand’s first electrified pickup broke cover today at Auto Shanghai in China and is based on the locally produced Nissan Dongfeng Z9 unveiled at the beginning of the year.

Powering China’s Frontier Pro is a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine working together with an electric motor built into the transmission. Combined, the two deliver more than 402 horsepower and 590 pound-feet (800 Newton-meters) of torque. The unspecified battery pack is good for 84 miles (135 kilometers), albeit in the overly optimistic CLTC test cycle.

The new truck combines an independent double wishbone front suspension with a five-link rear layout and gets an electromechanical rear diff lock. Nissan and Dongfeng have engineered the Frontier Pro with manually selectable 4High and 4Low modes as well as dedicated Performance and Snow driving modes, on top of the Hybrid and Pure Electric programs.

The interior carries over the neon yellow theme and hosts a 14.6-inch touchscreen together with a 10-inch driver’s display.

Interestingly, the Frontier Pro won’t be exclusive to the Chinese market. Nissan intends to sell the electrified pickup in other markets. However, we reckon that the steep tariffs and the 25-percent Chicken Tax make the truck unviable for the United States. A statement issued by Nissan to our colleagues at InsideEVs confirms our fears:

"While we have no plans to introduce this model in North America, we are continuously evaluating the needs of U.S. customers and are focused on expanding electrification offerings in this region."

The Chinese car market now leads earth in development and technology.

I think the exterior design of this thing is pretty attractive although a little more retro would definitely work in North America. Interior is way too EV, however. Light colors in a pickup truck? That's not going to work. I do enjoy car-like interiors but honestly it's a bit too soft for this market.

I am asking once again for those "15 minute city" conspiracy theories to be real.

Screw the modern car industry.

Sorry, but it needs another two to three hundred horsepower to try to outrun its looks. It ain't ugly, but just make them all black.
