It's a 1:18th scale diecast that comes fully assembled. I buy everything from eBay.

Auto Art models cost around $50.00 give or take $10. And they are hands down, the best model for the price.

Time to start building the roll cage.. :D

I just noticed soemthign on thhe video of the Rh9 uhm and what i noticed was, that when the engine really started to get higher pitched something started glowing? what was that?

but isnt that what a heat sheild is for?...or w8 a sec, trubo chargers are hooked up..ach i cant remember im haing a bad day, arent they hookmed up to the exhaust manifold?

Skyline guy, I know what you should do. Get ya bum on a plane and come on down here. The best time would be during the christmas holiday seasons as I would have plenty of time to show you around then. Heck someone in your field of medicine may even be able to get into NZ quite easy if you decided to stay :) I would take you to a few of the skyline meets, and other high performance car club meets.

Im new here, anyone got any ideas on wheather or not to install a 6 speed sequential into an R33 GTR or should I go for another 6spd?

Well I decided to answer the question, but not only that give you a bit of education on why certain boxes are for certain applictions.

Given the R33 (all models) were available with only a 5 speed manual or auto in the non-GTR's you do have quite a few options.

5 speed setup.

Sticking with the 5 speed setup you would currently have upgrading to an OS Giken gear set is probably the best option. It is extremely strong and is offered in different gear ratio sets.
This set also uses the factoy casing. I've heard of a few different hp ratings but the majority seem to sit around the 850hp range. The gears are still cross cut thus noise levels are about the same as factory and have a good life span. It is cost effective at around the $5,000 NZD for the set.

A set - This is about as close to the factory gear ratio's the GTR would have. First gear is slightly longe to about 70kmh. This is a good all around set for street use with the odd trip to the drag or circut which you would not be breaking 285kmh.

B set - This set is more toward racing than street though is still able to be used on the street. 1st gear is just on 100kmh but the other gears are fairly close to factory in their ratio spread. Top speed would around the 320kmh range.

C set - This is truely a racing set. 1st again is around the 100kmh range but the rest of the gearset has long ratios. I have not found out what the top speed is but given it is used primarely on very high hp cars who are not launch but more topspeed orientated it would be over the 350kmh mark.

6 speed dog box

This is a step up but a step down as it were over the 5 speed setup. They are also more of a circut box.
The gears are straight cut thus making this a rather noisy box. There is substatial gear wine. While it still uses syncros it is a much different setup compared to the 5 speed. Being a manual box you still have to unload it to shift. You are able to shift with or without a clutch. They are not the funnest to drive with and getting used to being abusive on gear changes isn't easy.
For street use they are not as reliable nor as durable as the 5 speed setups. You would be looking at full gear replacement after about 20k or less of street use. This box is more towards circut use than anything other. They are not designed to be launched and most are not nearly as strong as the OS Giken set, though holinger make a very strong one.
Ratios can be had in many different combination These boxes are the same as used in the V8 Super Car series cars. Cost wise they are around 2 1/2 times that of the OS Giken set.
HKS, Trust, and Holinger are companies that I know of make these boxes. I am sure there are more out there. Hp ratings will vary dependant on which brand you want.

Sequential boxes

These boxes are for outright racing only. and more towards drag racing than anything else. As you would expect you only need the clutch for starting and stopping. Life span is about the same or shorter than the 6 speed dog box. Again these boxes have straight cut gears and a very complicated syncro system. Holinger make arguably the best one and strongest ones in Australasia, while there are a couple of manufactures in the states for these boxes. They are very tempermental and you can have virtually any gear ration combination you wish.
They are also the most expensive starting at 20k NZD and going sharply up from there.
They come in different combinations of shifting such as a gear lever, air, or electronic (paddle shifting). HP ratings, well each manufacturer will have different ones claimed. Genearlly speaking though over 1,200hp is the norm for the high end drag boxes.
Some boxes require custom bellhousings to be made or used, along with very expensive cluth setups. You also have to have ignition cuts to unload the boxes during the shift for the likes of the holinger, yet some from the states seem to not require that but are again drasticlly more expensive.

RazorGTR: Cheers for your input, I`m going to go with the 6speed dog box, I want to use it for mainly street as there are a few blue light drags coming up(No, not another boy racer here, hate them in fact) I`m new to the 6speed idea as my previous rides have been a 92 GTiR and a 96 GTS25T.

Hahah I've been called a "boyracer" so many times by the locals because of what I drive. Funny it should be "oldman racer" to be more politically correct as it were.

 welcome to the skyline club!

Got any pictures of your car? I'd love to see them! If you have time throw some specs at us too :D

My old box has already been sold to a local who also patrols in a 96 GTR, yea ill email ya pics and specs, there not a lot done to it as it`s straight out of the box from japan but i`v got some plans for it, i woulden`t mind keeping it quiet then suddenly letting it loose at the nats or somthing, after reports of an R34 from signal doing 8.06 on street legal rubber, it lights a little fire inside of me, brings a tear to my eye even

sweet! just send them all to SkylineGTR_guy@yahoo.com :D

I`v only just got it about 2 weeks ago, but iv been to meremere in my 25T once and in my GTir twice, i ran a slow 14.78 in my 25T cause my arse end hung right out and it was my first time dragging like that in a rear wheel car, in my GTiR i ran a smooth 12.8 for my first ever drag and a second smooth time of 11.46. But i`m not into the standing starts, too risky, prefer a good old rolling start in second from 60clicks to 240 or the end of the road.
