OH WOW, I just found out that the owner of the GTR owns several high end cars, I'm going to get a full list and pics as soon as I can, mostly GTR of course but he has a maybach too!

a really wealthy guy who lives nearby has a GTR and a maybach, 360 spyder etc. Anyway I made freinds with his son and I get to go over to his house and drive all his kickass cars! lol I'll be pimpin it in a 300,000 dollar maybach! bling bling! Ok I'll never say that again.

I suppose it comes down to where you live and what is avalible in your area, for me, in my area, if you where to own a 350Z, people would ask you why you wasted your money on it when you could have brought something much better or upmarket.

Well here in NZ they are not selling well at all!

there was a big rush at the beginning but it has fallen off sharply. I hardly seen any 350Z's. For the price of them you can pick up an R33 GTR and have money left over, quite a bit.

I've driven a 350Z and other than the handling they are so over rated it isn't even funny! POS to the extreme. You seem to have very little feed back from the car to what it is doing or what is happening.

NZ isn't the entire world, and not every performance minded enthusiast want's a Skyline.

Overrated? That depends on your expectations.
NIAL8U is just all talk
I agree.

here in new zealand it is only a swift 50K NZD for the 6spd Track and i live in an area where the average person has a car worth at least 50/60K

True on the top.

My expectations. Simply put I would only UP grade not DOWN grade. The fact that car was hyped so much it carried a hefty burden of performance. It has delievered sour grapes.

Because I own a GTR doesn't mean I would compare it to that. That wouldn't even be right. Compare it to a 2002 WRX, the last year supra, EVO 8, the Z isn't even in the same continent. When Nissan bagged the top of the line sports car for this gutless over hyped and over rated loser people that loved Nissan have a leg to stand on.

As I've said I driven one. Impressive it wasn't. I feel that Honda, Toyota, and Mazda are well and truely way ahead. Don't get me wrong this car is fine for daily shopping, running the kids around or the business man who wants to looke "cool". How ever in the world of performance cars it leaves a lot to be desired.

That's where the aftermarket comes in to the picture.

I've yet to drive a 350z, and I think my test drive is long over due. I have seen it make almost every american auto magazines top 10 list, and I'm guessing it didn't get there by way of magic.

At the end of the day I could care less. It's nice to see a new sports car from Nissan stateside. Even if it's "overrated". :)

yea but I've already got a TT to start with. Take the same money and mod a already high performer and it will always stay ahead.

Nissan has been sending performance cars there. 240sx, 180z, 240z, 250hp Maxima (really a family sedan).

Keep in mind the competition there is huge. Still I wonder how popular the Skyline would have been had it been marketed there from the R32 onwards. I guess Nissan figured it was going to keep it on the euro side of the big pond.

As far as making the top 10 list so did the Toyota Camry for how long? It was the #1 car for at least 5 years that I know of. I guess when you get spoiled with Japan's best, Skyline, EVO, WRX, Supra, NSX, GTiR pulsar, FD RX, and GTO (VR4 there), when something like the 350Z comes out in NA form without the performance levels of the NSX or even close it is easy to over look it and not give it much of a rating.
The best way I could sum it up is compare a 1990 Mustang GT to a Viper or C5 Corvette. There is just no comparison that can be argued without bringing in overall cost. :)

The Camry made the list for obvious reasons. It was the BEST CAR in it's class.

And comparing the NSX to the 350z... C'mon man, you should know that is a no no. The cost of the two vehicles are not even in the same ballpark.

I have owned or driven most of the cars on your list, as I'm sure a large percentage of the people who will be buying the 350 have. I'm also sure they see the car for what it is, rather than what it ain't.

I just found the numbers for the GReddy 18g kit. -

Stock 350Z GReddy 350Z

Horsepower: 280hp / 244.4whp 370hp / 334.2whp

Torque: 238.5 ft-lbs 339.2 ft-lbs

1/4 Mile 14.02 @ 101.89mph 12.79 @ 106.53mph

0-60 mph 5.72 sec. 4.61 sec.

I couldn't of said it better myself. Did I mention these dyno #'s were on pump gas, and the turbo's were not even being pushed?
