Here's an idea: D1 uses whatever they use. Whatever the american comp is uses whatever they use. People on GT5 use whatever they use.

Try this point of view out ghetto old school D1 pro 15 year old drifters, it may expand your horizon.👍

Ken Block got beat at his own sport but a guy who goes by thy name of Tanner Foust.
He is an FD champion. Drifting takes more skill... Suck it.

I have managed to get my Skyline drifting quite well now and just wandering if there are any tips for setting up the Suspension & Transmission/Drivetrain?

I can initiate the drifts but can't maintain power through to keep it going.

I have been drifting it from stock, now has everything on it except stage 2 and 3 Engine Tuning.

Any tips?

Are you drifting in Automatic or Manual

Watch this and then tell me they do not allow 4WD in these events and he is probably running 10-90. Ken Nomura in a Subaru. I guess as far as some of you are concerned he is not a real drifter.

BTW I could not get the embed to work.

Dude, really?

It explicitly says in the D1 rules that the only permisible drivetrains are RWD and FWD. No 4WD, however drivetrain swaps are allowed, which explains Team Oranges Subarus and Mitsubishis. It also explains how Tanner Foust can get his Scion sideways. This is real life remember. They're not limited a crappy centre diff torque converter.

Also, Nomura drives the ER34 ;)

Just to prove a point. Not everyone can stay home and do as extensive research in the subject as you so.... Dude, Really? Your getting a little too serious.

As OP stated he asked for help with his car not for RufusGonePunk to come in here and get negative on everyone because of there opinions and preferenes.

I've said nothing negative in this thread. If you'll go to the previous page and read my post you'll see I was actually pretty positive about sliding 4WD cars. It's just it'll never drifting. It has it's own disipline, which Ken Block has brought to everyones attention, gymkhana.

Armchair drifters who know it all hahaha, the act of breaking traction can be achieved on any car, be it FR, FF,MR AWD. it is just easier to brake traction on a FR car because 1 there is hardly any real weight on the back wheels. and 2 putting the power they do through 2 small contact points which are set up to break traction almost on demand, is going to break traction very quickly. I would say FF & AWD are the hardest, as AWD is naturally pushing and pulling you round a corner, FF is pulling and wants to understeer, people here that are blabbering on about just FR bore me.

Nobody will disagree that you can break traction in any car. What people are saying is that the extra pulling power of the front wheels of a 4WD car, no matter if it's just 10%, is still more than enough to help pull a car through a turn.

As I said somewhere else, following RWD lines in a 4WD car is easier than doing it in a RWD car. People using 4WD cars should try copying Ken Block's setups and strive to get crazy angle and ridiculous entries. Push things forward instead of moving with others. Push the envelope, think outside the box and all that stuff.

I've been having a go at it in a 22B Impreza and I've been having loads of fun. Much more than trying to imitate RWD lines :)

Shall we move this debate onto this thread and let this guy try set his Skyline up?

Extensive research? We're on a drifting board, if you don't have a clue what drifting is or don't have any knowledge of that culture, don't come by and try to prove your point with false info.

The Team Orange with the collaboration of JUN made their Subbies and Lancer RWD, not by putting what you call a converter (this is not a video game) but by replacing the whole drivetrain and even changing the engine layout (for the Lancer).
