The Skyline GT-R is one of the most legendary sports cars to come out of Japan, and a large part of that legacy is due to the R32's absolute dominance in Group A racing in the early 90's. From the Japanese Touring Car Championship to the 12 Hours of Bathurst, it wasn't a question of if a Skyline would win, but which Skyline would take the checkered flag.
It featured heavy success worldwide, with Team Zexel's efforts in the Spa 24 Hours showing Europe what the GT-R was capable of. The car entered Belgium's biggest endurance event 3 times, from 1990 to 1992.
The car was most successful in 1991. 2 cars were fielded by the Zexel team, with #25 being driven by David Brabham and Naoki Hattori, and the #46 being driven by Kieth Odor and Takayuki Kino****a. The #25 won the race while the #46 was 6th, while 2nd through 5th was dominated by Porsche 911 Carrera 2's.
The car was identical to the ones used in the JTTC and B12H events, with it's tuned RB26DETT producing 542HP while it was lightened to just 1260KG all while retaining it's complex AWD system.
