@mellofello9

Sad to say I had 6 excellent races on the US servers, all clean with the odd back of the field stuff going on behind me.

Kept up and raced with the A+ guys in front

Then I did two more races, all A/A+ lobby and honestly it was horrific standards of driving, like "my first race level" for A and beyond racers.

For context I'm about 600th in the world on my US account for QT full S rated and being rammed and rear ended by "A+" drivers with slower QT and race pace, the mind boggles. These are full on use you as the exit manoeuvres. And breath just breathe

Edit:

For anyone wondering, the absolute best safest place to overtake at DF is the back/main straight, prioritise a good exit over line and you will be golden.

The worst places are the infield even if someone makes a mistake prioritise out dragging them down the straight. The 2 corners while tempting won't win you races or SR you have to think race vs positions

Nothin' sad about that...well, I mean, beyond the doomasses in the last two.😁

Had an interesting one a few ago. Got loose going into T1 and tagged someone. In the moment I thought I had barely caught the corner of their bumper. Apparently not, as I was now sportin' flashy new damage and a 2 second penalty. Once the penalty popped-up, I stopped. I didn't know who I hit but I hit them harder than I thought so I parked and waited for the pack to pass (was P5). One lingering car indicated I had just found my victim.

What ensued over the next several laps was akin to the "I'm gonna make sure you finish LAST" kinda crap. Passed them a couple times (clean) and then waited to let them pass just to try to indicate it was an accident but they weren't havin' it, lol. Last lap, last turn they tried again and got pounded on exit. At that stage, if you're gonna blatantly throw your car in front of me, I'm gonna 'miss' the brake pedal.

Apologized in the lobby and waited for a response...nothin'. Oh well. I bartended for years and never figured people out. Now I'm pretty confident that's by design.

Shaved my NSX Gr.3's Race C QT down to a 1:49.239.

Race 1: Started P6. Lonely race after I went for the undercut at the end of Lap 1. Finished P6.

Race 2: Started P6. Turn 1 Lap 1, got my left rear in the grass under braking, spun, and reset. Quickly made up ground avoiding cars having their own issues. Turn 1 Lap 2, a Vette bonked me into the grass. Went for the overcut at the end of Lap 9. Finished P10.

Race 3: Started P6. Turn 1 Lap 1, a GT-R spins me out. I'm in P16 (last). Overcut at the end of Lap 9 puts me in P9 for the first chicane, right behind three cars. There was a fracas exiting it, and I was able to take advantage of some fortuitous ghosting. Finished P6.

Race 4: Started P7. At Ascari on Lap 2, I let a car past on the inside, we both get our braking a bit wrong, and I bonk them into a spin, causing an accident behind us. Did another overcut at the end of Lap 9. Someone forgot to pit, and I gained a position at the end of the race. Finished P5.

Race 5: Started P5. Struggled with traffic, gaining and losing positions, but could've been worse. My overcut at the end of lap 9 almost put me back where I started. Finished P6.

Race 6: Started P5. Got stuck behind a GT-R for a majority of the race that I couldn't find a way past. Second chicane Lap 7, they had an incident with a Viper that put us into the podium positions. We both did an overcut at the end of Lap 9, and came out behind a Vette to start the final lap, which spun out exiting the first chicane. Finished P3.

Today was tough! My pace wasn't great. I bonked other cars. Other cars bonked me. They all bonked each other. I'm shocked that I was able to finish all of today's races P10 or higher, snag a P3 podium, and end the day with my DR being the highest it's every been:

Did the Monza race 5 times today.
In VR with the GPRO setup.
So cool to have a nice long race of 10 laps with 1 mandatory pitstop.
Makes you race strategically.
It's really a shame that there are so many dive-bombers and destruction derby racers in my league.
Starting 2nd or 3rd because of a reasonable qualification time.
Then turn 1 directly raped in the behind. Or pushed into a spin etc.
Guess I need to get in other lobby's and just keep on driving clean so I'll eventually get rid of the dirty mtfkrs.

Lap 1 at Monza is always a lap killer, even in any daily race. You can use the assists if you need to, there's nothing stopping anyone from using them. The brake indicator can let you know when to brake so you can pass through the chicane without going in the sand or hitting anyone. Good luck, @GT7VR

Hey @brockie nice update to the QT! 👍

Sorry, had to return fire. You were gettin' kinda close on the friends list so knocked it down to a .361 thanks to, get this, going back to stock. Even cooler part being the .041 optimal I hit during a 10 lap session. That'd almost get me a seat at the cool kids table (31's). Doubt I'll land that plane though.🤣

Again, that was 100% stock on the settings. That surprised me a bit.

PS
Speaking of friends lists: It's a shiny new year! If anyone is looking to spice up their friends list by adding some rando forum member with middling talent, feel free to send me a request (mellofello9).😁

Thanks man, I was just qualifying for a race and could have been further up on the following laps but the race started, I did have one eye on your time but I guess that’s gone now 🤣

Will give it one last push this morning

I have hud and every assist off in VR. Never used assists as for me it totally spoiles the realism.
Breakpoints and entry are not really a problem. At least I know how to do it, it often goes right after all these hours of practice.
In VR this is far more natural anyway since speed and distance are allot more tangible. The point is you just see a bullit incoming in your rear mirror bumping you full force a second later if you can't steer away. It's so crowded turn one that collisions are almost always imminent. I guess that's Monza for you... I do really like it though. I'm going for another daily in a few minutes :)

After all it was a fun week in race B. I just needed time to adapt. Thanks again to those who posted setups for the Huracan and Veyron.
DR dropped to B but all the players crashing and getting penalties made me gain an average of 5 positions each race. So solid A DR in the end.
SR went from S to B and back to a flawless S.

I hate that the penalty system penalizes you with 0.5s even when you go wide at the hairpin and SLOWLY go back on track.
Another thing that grinds my gears is the fact that you cannot save the setup. It's a chore to re-enter all values each time. Particularly frustrating when you forget to tune the car...or when you don't have enough time. This last race I didn't finish tuning the differential so the Veyron kept understeering like crazy.

This weekend I kept running into a dude that bullied me on track for 2 years. And by bullying I mean crashing me on purpose every single race and putting me in 16th place, while he always maintained his S SR.
This time he didn't do anything, probably because I finally changed my GT nickname and he never checked my PSN ID.

I have to say, I’ll be glad to see the back of deep forest 🤣

This weekend surprisingly has been horrid, @newmedia_dev I think you are spot on about where to pass, anywhere else just causes carnage

@bone_tone nice to see you in the lobbies mate, again, hopefully my pinball racing didn’t ruin any of your races 🤣

Let’s see what Suzuka gr3 has to offer, not usually my strong one, another T1 disaster waiting to happen 🤣

Until then

Small shout to @Nebuc72 for the 1.31.5 😳

🤣

Well done with that! I've been trying all week to get my SR back to where it started the week, at S.

Nearly got there today, the next race saw it drop from full A to B, courtesy of the people that rammed me into other cars.....

Got it back to A next race, now halfway back to S.

DR has been threatening to drop to C all week too, but I just manage to pull a good result out of the bag each time to keep me at the bottom of B 😬

Looks like @brockie has been having similar bad luck, from what I saw in our races today....

@mellofello9 - thanks for accepting the friend request! Doesn't look like I'll be threatening your QTs though 😄

Just looks so good on vr

2025 for me is ps5 pro and maybe vr

The more I see these vids the more the itch needs a scratch 🤣
Honestly my friend VR is the better buy for GT it will fundamentally improve your experience of the game and driving. I swear I'm faster in VR than I was on Bumpercam just by having the care around me, throttle control, braking, lines everything is improved in every way!

Ps5 pro will essentially give you a few more reflections and some reprojection but that seems to have mixed/marmite opinions.

While PSVR2 is on sale pull that trigger mate!

Gr.3 is supposed to be balanced, right?

...except for that one.🤣

Super high downforce car that works pretty well at the twisty spots lacking HUGE straights. At the 'Temple of Speed' though, not so great. I always struggled to get pace from it even though it sticks like glue. Same with the BRZ. Haven't checked but doubt the BRZ is top-o-board material at Monza either.

@brockie you were definitely there...only missed by .012 on your first swipe.👍

Also, thanks for the friend requests, all. Great way to start the new year!

@bone_tone while that may/may not be true this week, next week may tell a different story, lol! Thanks for reaching-out!

Video in coming, but I have to say I'm very glad I'm racing on my alt account.

Couple of observations....

In high B and low to high A lobbies...for some reason they can't lift off the throttle? Weird considering the lobbies?

Where I would expect experience, nope position grabbers all around. Restraint anyone??

Today has been the worst day for contact and standards and it's shocking. Really shocking.

Had a race with KV that was awesome, I couldn't catch him and he pitted at the end of the race to give me the win. No drama, in fact cleaner than most of the people I've raced tonight.

I say this the the lurkers, run the race, follow closely and don't get over sweaty, or desperate. Places will come, focus on the fast lines not the ram it up the inside line. Sure you get a place but had you taken your time you could be on the podium.

It takes a great amount of restraint to sit behind someone, but that is race craft and overall better fast driving.

I find the same and I realize that not all drive like me, I have to adjust sometimes to others driving style.
I know, I have 2 other accounts in A and this was the fringe account.

I'm 6000 daily races in now, yes 6k is like to think I can read the room and be able to adjust as needed. I'm not sure how to adjust to people throwing it up the inside, then not having any pace so you just pass them again and again all while taking time out of the race :/

I don't think they are playing the same game...mine is let's go as fast as possible and last lap let's get in to it or catch the leaders etc.

I don't think a lot of people in those lobbies have enough in the gray matter to think like that and drive like it.
