Hello, raul. Welcome to GTPlanet!

You've just learned a lesson. More power is not always good.

The Skyline will make 1000 hp, but it will never handle that much power very well. I suggest cutting in back to 700 hp or so - you'll find it's actually faster around the track with less power.

If you want to run it at full power, brake very very early and push the throttle gently in the corners. Set ASM to zero and TCS to 2. If you have a VCD installed, remove it.

But really, the best thing to do is lose about 200-300 horesepower, and practice.

Also, get a full limited slip differential, and set the Acceleration on it low, and the Torque even lower. I have mine set at 20 for Accel, and 10 for Torque. My car is also more of a rwd configuration with %10 of the torque going to the front wheel's.

This setup is used with 1040hp. This car, is not used in races where tire wear is a concern.

Yes thats right skylines with ova 1000hp arnt good for races with tyres losing tread i have one an i have to go throught pit after 2 laps if im lucky, i might take the advice an drop 2 or 300hp. thanx

Heres a nice setup for a 1k HP Skyline: Spring Rate 10.3 15.3 First N/A
Ride Height 90 105 Second N/A
Shock Bound 4 7 Third N/A
Shock Rebound 4 7 Fourth N/A
Camber 3.1 1.0 Fifth N/A
Toe -1.5 0.5 Sixth N/A
Stabilizer 3 5 Final 3.545
Brake Balance 18 15 Auto Set 31
Downforce 0.29 0.35 Assist / Misc
Limited Slip Front Rear ASM 0
Initial Torque N/A N/A TCS 2
Accel N/A N/A VCD 10
Decel N/A N/A AYC N/A

Updated for better control. Drives much better using Turbo3, and gets me 1:17 laps average at Laguna Seca.
Just buy everything.
;)

 That's common sense. The question was: How do I make my 1000hp Skyline controllable?

9 times out of 10 in Gran Turismo, a car with 900hp is faster then a car with 700hp.

If you can build an R34 VII with under 1000hp that pull's mid 1:14's at Laguna Seca, you'll of proved me wrong. :odd:

The problem with the Skyline, is that it really needs that power to be fast. It seems like it's not as competitive as it should be with less power. Granted, it handles better, but it seems to always not quite measure up............very similar to the Supra.
I don't drive the Skyline that often for that reason.

I have a R34 with 655hp and in the races that have 5 laps where tire tread wears down, I can't make it to the 5th lap. By the 4th all my tires are orange, near red and I can't handle it anymore. I'll go from 1st place to 4th place and it's really pissing me off.

Can anyone help me with my settings/tires
Here's what I'm using:

Spring Rate: 12.5/14.0
Ride Height: 86mm/87mm
Bound: 6/7
Rebound: 7/9
Camber: 2.5/1.0
Toe: 0.0/-0.5
Stabs: 3/3

1st Gear: 3.747
2nd: 2.464
3rd: 1.774
4th: 1.342
5th: 1.066
6th 0.889
Final: 3.400

Downforce: .29/.47
ASM: 0
TCS: 4

Credit to whoever made these settings. (found them in another thread, don't feel like searching)

I am using Super Slicks, but I have no idea if they're the best tire choice or not for the races where you have to pit.

Please help me!!! I appreciate it.

yeah your tires are the best. you just need to ease of the accellerator in the corners and not spin the wheels coming out of corners... either that or take some of the damn hp away.

hey guyz...i kno itz hard to control a skyline becuz' i have two(a skyline gt-r and a 400r)and they have a big problem of being uncontrollable, and because they huge power and big h.p. ... it make the situation worse...but what i did was i bought a brake balence controller for both of the cars, the brake kit,and then a bought some of the simulation tires to help stop the prblem a little bit. butt still NO MATTER HOW HARD U TRY...THR CAR IS STILL GONNA BE JACKED UP...thats y i only use my two cars for the 4WD races and the gt emblem races.:D

I know you're the world's toughest mod man but you need to learn to drive the skyline properly. I can go a lot faster with max HP than with 700, its all down to a little thing called skill.

Your not using super slicks, you're using mediums or softs.

Yeah i had this problem too ... compared to my lower hp skylines the 800 hp one had real tail slide problems going into the turn and severe understeer when accelerating out of the turns.

This was fixed somewhat by strengthening the front dampers so that the back tyres wouldnt loose too much traction and end up skidding all over the place

I can put a full-build RGT around Apricot Hill in just about 1':10" flat with no cutting. It's not that I don't know how to drive - though I admit I'm not the fastest by any means. It's just that the Skyline runs into the limitations of its chassis around 800hp.

My Skyline has 1040 hp and it handles very well. I put it so power is 50/50 so you don't sit there and smoke the tires to pieces. It also helps in the turns, I can't get enough of the all wheel drive cars!!!! yeahhh!!!!

My skyline is up in the 1053~ range and I originally just had it as a drag setup but I took it out on the track and it drifted quite nicely. It also turns well when I don't initiate a drift. I'll post my settings later.

Control that darn power! Run TCS at one or zero and no stability control. Now, I learned in the Escudo (with s4 turbos) while attempting to win the F1 championship with a non-F1 car (it failed, LOL. Eventually nabbed it with the f/090s) that your best driving strategy is the 'Darrell Waltrip' driving strategy; Easy into the corners, *almost* to your tire's limit of adhesion, off the throttle through most of the corner, then roll on the throttle at the end and slingshot it off of that puppy! Since the Escudo has a nasty push like no other out there, I had to always nail it just right. For me, you start off with conservative driving and continue to push it until you've reached your limit. Works just as well in GT3 as it does in NR4/02/03 :D

Also, start off on a fast sweeping course then work your way down to technical. Always set up your gearbox to max out on the longest straightaway (leave a 750-900 rpm 'safety zone' on the higher end cars and tracks with long straightaways so you don't overrev it while draft-passing) so your engine can stay on boil. Once you learn to modulate the horsepower on that bad boy, and how to drive it right through the corners, you can throw your hot rod around like no other!:)

my R34 R tune was pumpin 900, but put the smaller spool on it and its down to around 600, it understeers a bit, but other than that its quite nice.

My Skyline had 1072hp and I loved it, I did all the Endurance races with the exception of the Roadster race. As for tire wear just use the Super Slicks, I get 16 laps out of them before they start to really effect my lap times. Its too bad with the oil thing though because after the Minstral 78 Laps I had just 1051hp :grumpy: , oh well guess that just means I will have to buy another one!

I have a nissan skyline with more than 1000 bhp and its uncontrolable in turnings. in straights is good. how can i do to control it? thanks
cut the power back and it will run better. ive got a skyline and it really sucks at turning until i cut the power down. u can also add some different tyres so it runs better round corners

dude, i always use my skyline and its running at 1040hp its a beast. HAHA i even put dirt tires on it and go rally. ITS DA BOMB and on the road you just have to go slow on turns and then rip it up on the straight aways, although i wouldnt use the skyline for such events like laguna seca. Use the escudo! if you have one anyways. lol i just got that car and it is so pimp, i tweaked the settings and bought a stage 4 kit and its a MONSTER! it goes over 300mph. And also, i heard that someone got it to over 900 mph. HOW IN THE WORLD did you get that. thats like as fast as a plane dude. Anyways i am out, cya later

This game is blatantly unrealistic. Nobody can claim realism after what I'm about to explain. Not without being wrong, that is.

No vehicle the size and shape of a car could possibly go 300 miles per hour with a mere 1040 HP. It might be able to go 300 kilometers per hour, but definitely not 300 mph. How do I know? Gearing aside, the top speed of a car traveling through a viscous substance goes as the power^(1/3). That's the cubed root of the power. That's how air resistance works. It's part of the laws of physics.

The 806 HP Koenigsegg CCR has a much better aerodynamic profile than any Skyline, and can only go 242 mph. I took the liberty to graph the HP-to-top-speed relationship for a car with as little drag as the CCR. I calculated the constant of 26 in front specifically for the CCR, or another car with the same drag coefficient and front profile surface area. The graph runs through the point (806,242). Any car with a spoiler will have a significantly higher drag coefficient and the top speed will be less than if it had no spoiler. Even with a supremely sleek car like the CCR, this graph shows that more than 1500 HP is needed to go 300 mph. I speculate that with a not-so-sleek car like the Skyline (and drag-increasing spoiler), you might need around 1700 HP to go 300 mph.

The lines on the graph show the CCR's HP and top speed, the CCR's top speed if it had 1040 HP, and finally, how much HP it would need to go 300 mph.

I hope you all learned how unrealistic this game is. The only way this could hold to reality is if there was no air resistance. That would mean there was no air. Of course, an gasoline engine can't run in a vaccum...

As a bit of trivia, the Koenigsegg CCR (sleek machine that it is) would need about 41,480 HP to go 900 mph. Yes, that is forty-one thousand, four-hundred eighty horsepower. That is into the space shuttle engine power range.
