Man, thought I killed this thread. Interesting. Perhaps PD hasn't quite mastered drag modeling, as, to my knowlege, GT3 is the first Gran Turismo game to include drag-limited top speeds. Maybe GT4 will get it right. Still, an error like that does not merit calling the game "blatantly unrealistic", as top speed runs are only a small percentage of the game.

EDIT: BTW, the 900 mph thing is a glitch, I believe.

Actually, I've never played any of the Gran Turismo games. Hope this doesn't hurt my credibility too much . I'm sure it's realistic in most other respects. Rallisport Challenge, while being rather unrealistic in many ways, does do a good job at representing the cars' top speeds on the long straights.

However, I disagree about the 900 HP thing being a glitch. It sounds like just the sort of thing an impressionable youth would throw out after hearing it somewhere. I don't think it could be a typo, either, as the only keys around 9 are 8, 0, i, and o (assuming a QWERTY keyboard layout). 800 mph is just as unbelievable as 900.

umm...
im new here and i have 4 Nissan skylines in 4 different colors, including the older one, anywayz..., skyline just looks good, and goes fast, i never use my skylines in races, for racing i use my FO90s, and in 4wd races i use my Tommy Kaira ZZ2 (i think thats the name..), well to make things short, i usually use my GT 1 Road car or FO90s, i got about 80 cars in my garage and all of them are modified to the fullest, as for the settings, i dont mess with that, all i do is make the gear ratio wider so i get more top speed..., and for anoby starting out on GT, a good chea car is the Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R, its the best car u can buy for $35,000

a glitch? most likely, cuz i've set one of my Escudos pikes peak to the "take off" settings, at which 230mph the front end lifts and the escudo accelerates to over 500mph, i dunno if the car is actually going that fast cuz its hard to tell when the front end is pointing towards the sky...
anywayz 500mph is freakin outrages, the escudo may be is the fastest car to climb pikes peak but 500mph is just crazy, it must be a glitch

this is the 2nd time i restart GT cuz my original game got deleted on my memory card, im sure that by now i would of had every car in GT, the only car i dont have that i want is the Viper GTS Concept, damn, i want that car...

That's pretty hard to get. I think you have to "Gold" the Super Liscense tests or you can win it in a Pro League championship.

Yeah, he definitely typed '900', but it was definitely hearsay. If anything, I'd say they were referring to the wheelie trick, which definitely is a glitch. With extreme suspension settings and the downforce jacked around, at high speeds you can get the front end of some cars off the ground. Once that happens, speed goes crazy - 900 mph is easily possible.

Yeah,the same as with the supra.

just do some really early braking and positioning. it's handling is quite good at it's limit. only thing is that it accelerates past it's limits too easily. early braking and bringing the car down to it's limits should make the car perfom much better. and your settings will effect it's performance too. i use a lightning yellow R34. dont seem to be any difference between VII and VI except abit of weight but not that big of a difference. i will get my setup when i look at them again.
