So it appears nitro modification is back in the tuning shop.

Good thing or bad do we think?

I don't know. In one way it's fine since it's available in real life, but in another way it's going to make it annoying online having to add nitrous to compete with other cars (and hold the button every time), unless it also increases PP.

Never been opposed to it. With the high likelihood of filters being assigned to such mods in online lobbies and PP increasing depending on the gas density, I don't think there's any real reason for it not to be reintroduced.

It has no place in a racing sim, unless they've finally added drag racing.

I can't help but wonder if people would continue to feel this way if they went ahead and renamed it after some energy recovery system that's used in actual race series' these days, rather than just NAWS?

I'm struggling to find any reason why it's a bad thing, since I can't imagine they just put it in without balancing the game for it.

Because Fast and the Furious, ricers, it's "arcade" or something along those lines. It could be used in a similar vein to the push-to-pass Champ Car used, or KERS in F1 and I think that can bring an interesting dynamic to the racing, especially online. I recall a Chrysler Crossfire race at the Motegi oval in GT4 which I couldn't beat without the use of nitrous and I had a good time working out how to use it efficiently to get myself into the lead.

Well as someone who went back to GT4 to build A 200mph 4 speed Ford Taurus SHO, I'm over the moon at the news of the laughing gas making a comeback. I do agree that there should be an option to disable nitrous for spec racing. In the meantime, I'll be planing projects for myself. Laughing Devil Z anyone? :sly:

I guess the stigma associated with it will still outweigh the performance improvements for many then. Even if the Nitrous system is as discrete as it was in GT4 as opposed to F&F's pyrotechnics and motion blur. And I agree that it can be used to good effect in GT4 by fiddling with the density settings.

"Erm?" means either you don't really care or you are suffering the inner turmoil of not being able to make up your own mind. It is pretty much how I am feeling - I thought I would find out if I was the only one...

As long as you can filter it online, I don't see any issue with it being in the game. It is optional, after all.

Nitro have no place irl circuit racing and it's a circuit racing oriented game... BUT it can't be ignored since it's a popular tuning parts in drag racing world . So i think its a good thing and that's great to have more choice in tuning . I also hope they add turbo kit for GT86 and other cars coming NA from the factory and that the game no allow you to boost , cause C'mon there thousand supra that output 1000-1500hp why can we not be able to copy that extreme engine tuning !? Or realistic engine swap that are commun in tuning/racing scene like Elise/K20 , golf/VR6 , M3/V10 , 86/20Valve etc...
Hope for the best , prepare for the worst ^^

Just as long at you're able to disable it online and there are no hacks.

As far as Offline.. You can keep your hand on the button till the floor of you car falls apart, it's fine by me.

I liked nitrous in GT4, especially with low powered cars. Sometimes that extra little kick made the cars a tad more enjoyable - like increasing the top speed from 130mph to 160mph in the Kei cars.
