What the... GT Sport is a beta for GT7! :banghead::banghead::banghead: Don't you remember GT5 Prologue? GT4 Prologue? Anyone? :odd:

GT Sport is a beta itself... why would a beta need a beta?

It's more than a prolouge, it's like Motor Toon GP to GT1 an expiriment for PD to be able to conduct expiriments on PS4, and use that info to improve GT7

I'm sure that, whilst some are obviously disappointed, I'd rather they spend the coming months in crunch time - fine tuning the game - than having to put time, money, people and resources into maintaining a public beta.
This is fine and true, but it's still a big problem. Some time back in September, a plan existed to release a public beta by now and a full game in November (likely earlier.) Between then and now, they fell behind and had to axe the beta. How good do you feel about the November date?

The people who were absolutely sure the beta was on time, 'early' was ambiguous and were confident in PD delivering seem to have gone very quiet.

Thoughts, @Zlork for example?

Honestly I don't really care that the beta isn't happening and it just gives them more time to work on the full version of the game instead of pushing out a beta.

I believe there will be a demo, it's just a matter of when. Will it be a summer demo for the base PS4, or will it be a VR demo launch in October and perhaps a NEO demo too.

If their excuse for no beta was the official certification process how is a demo going to be any different? It equally has to go through that process.

You believe that there will be a demo based on what?

Maybe PD's thinkng is something along the lines of: "If we release a beta, people would realise how bad it is, & then sales of the finished game would plummet."

How many of us would've pre-ordered GT5 or GT6 if we'd had a chance to play them first?

Maybe the Copper Box Arena event was just damage limitation.

Except for the fact that most people who have actually played it think it's in good condition (even people who are known to be quite critical).

Invite fans only to a kick ass event, feed them, buy them a drink, bamboozle them with bullshots & pretty trailers etc, limit their seat time, & by then they'll think anything is good!

;) :sly:

Now you're beeing cheeky. ;) I don't think people like @Scaff or @Famine are that easily won over. (Though it will work wonders for some other press members :D)

Beta tests and demos take away time that's going to be needed for this game to be finished, makes sense to me.

I don't think that I fall into that category at all, and nor was my seat time limited at all. quite the opposite I got far more than I expected.

Pretty sure Kaz would have known that when he promised a beta version several months ago don't you think? Or do you think he just made that realization this month? Clearly something changed between last fall and last week. What do you think it is?

Considering the track record of delays in the franchise, I would say it's more likely he under estimated the amount of work the game needed to launch on time.

I don't think what we've seen so far would probably go down well if it was released to the public. And I do think it's not far fetched that they are behind schedule. I hope they make the release date and I feel Sony will be pushing them since Horizon is getting delayed.

Which, for any fan of the series, should be concerning. It's been a trademark of the series for a decade now to overestimate the capabilities of the hardware and underestimate how difficult it is to do everything you want to do without some aspect of the game suffering. That's how we ended up with 30-60 fps, screen tearing, jaggies, rolling starts 30s apart, etc. etc. etc.
