No handbrake?!

The handbrake works.Look at your button mapping, the handbrake is not assigned to any button by default (at least on the ds3).

Really? I was sure I used the handbrake in earlier rounds, maybe fault was caused by my playing literally minutes after rounds went live?

You should be able to use your handbrake, because PD haven't disabled it. Check your controller mapping to see if you have removed it from the control map by accident.
 
I noticed this while trying to get a better time in Round 4-3.

I was trying to get myself to hit the handbrake to get round the second corner faster but nothing happened.

I have not touched any part of the options menu in the game so far.

After you mentioned that, I think that they disabled the handbrake so that people would stop cheating with it. You won't be able to use a handbrake in a real race car so quickly and delicately, plus it would only wear out the tyres more than necessary.
 
Happened to me too. On two of my sub accounts e-brake went unassigned by it self when the new events opened. Stayed the way I set it on my main account though.
 
The handbrake was unassigned from day one (it's the default setup).I changed it in the first round and it's still working...

I noticed on the eidger one people were using the e-brake to get it to rotate more. Me personally I think its kinda weak. But to each there own I guess. I'm to the point were I'm just getting golds and counting down until 8-5. This is getting kinda tedious now. I'm ready for full laps.
 
The only place I seen people using the e-brake was on Eiger Nordwand, for those hairpins and my e-brake worked just fine on my G27... Although it was a pain to use because I'm not used to actually using it...

While the public reason for GTA is to find "drivers", I suspect the underlying reason, and more important to stock holders, is to boost sales for past, present and future titles. Being mildly curious, I wonder how many copies of GT5 have sold since GTA release compared to a similar time period prior to?

Yes, cynical of me, I know.

This was done last year, and I don't really see an issue with it. I made the National Finals without using the handbrake or cutting any corners/grass hopping.

For using a handbrake????

Handbrake = too much loss of traction.
 
Anyone use 'heel-toe' or 'rev-matching'? I saw these terms used in another thread but after reading it seems more of a clutch thing.
 
I'm trying to be a little more effective with trail braking to get the car to rotate/grip a little more up front but the Eiger hairpins have me in a frenzy trying to perfect some techniques. Those hairpins are really letting my imperfections shine bright.
 
Are you guys 100% sure people are using the handbrake? I'm almost positive that takeuchi (the #1 time when i last attempted) didnt. I shift to 1st mid corner to get the rotation out of the car, same as him, so I'm thinking most of you guys are seeing the rotation and assuming handbrake, rather than what is truly going on, which is in essence engine braking and weight transfer.

Thats the jist I got after the 3rd attempt with a handbrake first turn. THAT IS NOT where the rotation is coming from!
 
The hand break thing is an example of a lack of "Race Craft" Yes rally guys use it but as far as what GTA is doing ......... I want everyone else to go there so I can keep my Mo up and just roll around you on the out side and wheely away :lol:
 
Some of the top runners are using the hand break? Wow... I'm sorry but that's a chump move in my book, though people will do what they need to do to be on top.
