I see a lot of threads on here and the Forza site, where guys constantly request new, modern cars.
My question is ...where is the love for the golden oldies?
I know GT4 had some old stuff and that was great, but i feel that with less cars for GT5, the classic cars of old will take a back seat to their modern counterparts.
Sure, they might not have all the electronic wizardry of today's cars but they have such a unique, raw charm about them that they most deservedly should be mentioned more often.
Their characteristic handling, their little imperfections should be more than enough of a handful even for the seasoned racer.
I'd love to know the ratio between new cars and old cars, say pre 80's, that will make it in the full game.
I see the museum feature in prologue and must say i love it. More of that please!
Anyway, for the older guys here, even the younger guys for that matter,
would you like to see a more enriched history take form in the game, or are you content with the way it is?

I'd love to see a good quantity of older cars in GT5. The mix in GT4 was pretty good, and even though things like the Model T Ford was pretty useless, it was nice to see it included in a game! With the improved physics in GT5 it'll be nice to see how they handle too.

One of my favourite classics in GT4 was actually the '63 Daihatsu Midget, the 3-wheeler :D That's the kind of mix of cars I like, it may not be much of a race car (though it was fun when fully tuned) but GT is a driving sim first and foremost.

Though new cars have their place, older cars are a must. There are many I would love to see, such as:

Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato, Aston Martin DB5 Vantage, Jaguar XKSS, Ferrari 250 GTO, et. al.

eeks! The mere mention of a 250 GTO makes my insides tickle ;) Love that car.

i wouldnt mind seeing the early 70's ford mustangs. They would be a weapon in the inevitable musclecar championships.

Classic American muscle cars :
(Ford Madness) : more Mustangs,350's,500KR,Cobra's,Shelby's,Torino Talledega,,Fairlane 500,289 Comets,Maverick Grabber 302
(Mopar Muscle) : Duster 340,Dart GT440,Charger 500,68-69 Hemi Roadrunner,Challenger R/T,66-67 GTX,69 Formula S Cuda,(winged cars)-'70 Superbird,'69 Daytona Charger,Demon 340,'70 Hemi Cuda,'71 Hemi Cuda convertible
(GM Goodies) : Buick GSX 455,Olds 442,Hurst Olds,'69 Chevelle SS 396,70 1/2 Camaro SS ( love that split front bumper ),'69 Trans-am / Firebird,'67-9 Camaro Z's & SS,Pontiac GTO Judge,GTO'S '66-9,'66-7 Chevy deuce,SS Nova's,'55-7 Chevy's

( Just to touch a few !!!! ) I know some of these have been in other GT games, but let's bring them back with more American Muscle than ever before, these were / are a blast to drive . Create an American Muscle Car Series " Ford -vs- All " - " Mopar -vs- All " - " GM -vs- All " , could be very interesting ?????

I look forward to the oldies the most, GT5P hardly has one pre 80's car. KY is such a histroy buff I doubt he will overly dissapoint and a good sign of things to come is GT5P has the 512BB.

I would love some Cossies or MK1 Escorts... E-type... Jag Xj220... if only

GT2, GT3 and GT4 have already had the XJ220, no reason to believe they'll miss it out for 5.

the original 930's. with turbo lag abounding, and eating me alive at every step.

the E30 M3 is a MUST.
the 190Evo2 is already there.

More triumph cars. Where is the MGA? the MGB? Austin Healey Sprite? Old Fiats, and old Alfas.

the 356 would be fantastic, as would the older ferrari's. and some old front engined F1 cars would be a blast from the past. as would some 60's and 70's ones.

How about the Jag Le mans cars from the 50's and 60's?

If anything, I like the oldies more than the modern cars.

I'd love to see some pre-and post-war goodies as well, and not just american ones. imagine getting the privelage of having one of those long mercedes tourers in your collection!

hopefully, the Boss will add at least one or two 50's American Icon cars. c'mon...'57 Chevy, please?

I agree with the posters here. There are so many American & European classic cars that I would for PD to represent. The D-type, the Fiat Spider and oh so much more...

The Volvo P1800S is a beautiful car that to the best of my knowledge has never been in a video game.

I'd like to see some classic F1 cars as well, at least one championship-winning car from each decade or half decade would be great!
Some more classic rally cars and endurance cars would be nice too, I'd love to see the Group C cars expanded with the Aston Martin AMR-1, etc, not just winning cars, but the interesting "rare" cars.

An 80's F1 car with 3 seconds of turbo lag would be cool.:dopey:

I know, how about we make a wish list containing all the cars that we want in GT5? Oh...wait...:dunce:

I'm very interested in the older vehicles myself. I liked only a few at first, but I've since grown a love for them. I wish I would have been there to see cars like the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe race around Daytona or Ferrari 250 LM race around Le Mans.

the Bricklin SV-1. Canadian awesome.

Like I said, the old cars are more interesting to me than the new ones. New cars are so...heartless...all this electronic gadgetry. Yes, you go faster. No, you do not have the same experience as you would in a car with no aids, no Power steering, no electronic damping, launch control, and whatever else they've managed to cram into a car.

Windows down, sound deadening removed, blasting a symphony of unrestricted and unbridled awesome. That is a true experience. Don't forget the 3rd pedal. Flappy paddle has no place here.

[/rambling]

The only point in having muscle cars in GT5 is, if there is a drag strip. Because you got to be kidding me, a 60's or 70's chevy on a race track.

Are you serious?
There were multitudes of cars and races that featured purpose built, racing muscle machines!

Ignorance.

Whats wrong with the truth, you ain't gonna tel me that a 454 SS or road runner make's a good track car. And posting picture's of 70's cars one a track doesn't make the good track cars. With a heavy 5.0+ cast iron V8 in the front and leave springs, you ain't gonna be fast.

True, when going up against a F430 or Zonda, but it isn't about that.
If that was the case, then why is there a Suzuki Cappuccino or a Ford Focus or any of the other non traditional 'track' cars in the GT games?
It's about the experience of driving different cars with varying power and handling. The 'feel' so to speak.
Trust me, it takes balls of steel and determined concentration when trying to tame one of these machines around the track.

Oh really? Then why hasn't the Trans-Am series been dominated by Porsche 911s? Why was it dominated by Chevrolet Camaros instead?

Your ignorance is appalling. You consider it a joke to see American Muscle on the track, yet it has been done professionally since the 1960's. These cars are still plenty fast, and would probably rip apart your average track car due to the amount of tuning, weight reduction, & time put into these cars.

And since when was Gran Turismo about good track cars?

For me it's a big plus if the game has a wide variety of cars. I think it's more fun to take and drive a Chevelle in GT than some of your so called "good track car".

Wht have only non US cars won the trans-am, for its last 7 years of existence.

Oldies are a must. There are a few obscure oldies I'd love to see in GT5:

LOL the Corvette would like to speak wif joo. Leaf springs, big assed engine... speedy, to say the least.

And the reason those big ole American muscle cars didn't handle well was because they were oft on 4 wheel drums IIRC, and bias plys. Yeah. throw some good quality tires on em, and a 4 wheel disc system, and I bet they'd handle pretty good.

Basically, I find that in particular, the Import tuner crowd seems to think "Merican cars suck at trunin, y0" BS. totally. They handle just fine. Just because you suck at driving one, doesn't mean they don't handle well.

And this is from a Euro car lover. (Although I like a 7 litre V8 rollin and gurglin away too!)

I played Enthusia quite abit and found they had a very good mix from the 60's,70s,80s that were awsum fun to throw around a track. Early Mitsubishi Galant GTO with open diff, squirming and wollowing on it skiny tyres and under sprung suspention was the hight of on the limit fun (maybe physics of EPR showed it more).I dont mind a bit of body roll and instability!!!!!!
