No, no, no, GT5 keeps freezing!!!

I'm about 4000 away from Lv27 and in every race its freezing. Tried it on arcade, GT mode, connected online and totally offline and it keeps freezing. It seams to happen 2 minutes 31 seconds into a race. If I finish a race in under that time then all is fine. I've un-installed the game and reinstalled it and its still doing it. Tried it on COD and it works fine just GT5.

Any help....................please

PS, just to add, it only started to happen when I connected a GT wheel for the first time yesterday.

Mine has fronzen many times since the most recent update. It always freezes on the GT logo loading screen. I also noticed it freezing when my wheel is plugged in.

Check your Playstation isn't overheating.
If its game specific, try looking at the disc for scratches.
Try toning down the graphic settings for GT5.

Are you using somekind of music playlist while playing the game? If so, did you edit the playlist? If so, and if you did, that would probably be the problem.

Heard a few times, that editing a custom playlist can screw up the game.

+1 for the custom playlist freezes. I had these all the time early on. Maybe you have a music file that features an unsupported bitrate or file format in the list?


In the end, because I had the PS3 and my PC going through a mixer, I just disabled all music from GT5 and played it on the PC mixing with GT5 effects. Not one crash since, only a Yellow light of Death resulting in the entire loss of 3 years worth of PS3 savegames.

Mine also keeps freezing I've found I have to clean it even though there are no scratches then it works again but it is really frustrating

I tried this and it still froze. I can't do much in the game any more 'cause every time I enter a race it freezes after a bit. I can't do Top Gear Laps, can't do Seasonal races, can do A-spec races can't do *censored*! PD REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY needs to fix this. I paid $60 for the game and I want to be able to platinum it eventually. And what's the point of being able to get extra money from races if you can't actually finish a race 'cause the game freezes before a single lap is done?

Disconnected it from I-net - freeze, deleted and re-installed gamedata - freeze, cleaned disc - freeze. Funny thing is on my second PS3 (fat release-day PS3) does not freeze... Has anyone some good advice???

I got a bunch of weird freezes one night that I tracked down to a poor internet connection. We had very, very heavy rain that was messing up the cable signal in my area. Disconnected from the internet and everything ran great.

Can it be a disc issue if the freezes are happening during the race? I thought everything loaded in before you started the race so the disc shouldn't be loading anything whilst you are racing. But I could be completely wrong about that.

Hi, Make sure the disc is clean, may need a polish with DVD cleaner. Make sure the player has good ventilation. If the player gets hot it will shut down or it maybe a faulty disc.. take it back for an exchange??

I'm gonna try piggy backing on this thread (OK, everybody yell at the noob)
Mine freezes only on the nurburgring. Every other race is fine but any race on the ring freezes bout 30 seconds into the race. Lupo race both A spec and B spec, also tried another a spec race on the ring, all freeze pretty much exactly at the same place.
No issues in any other races.
Is this something anybody has experience with?
Help please?
