I use lowest quality and voice chat turned off

this is to maximise racing quality while sacrifcing graphics i assume

I asked since I started to wonder what that option actually means and whether it has any impact on the physics (which may explain why online is so vastly different to offline).

I've not done any extensive testing of it to compare, I wonder if anyone else on GTP has.

Regarding the race and any incidents, I don't mind if you don't take action, I wasn't after a ban for nethereal or anything, merely bringing up collisions as a serious issue for the fun of the race.

Checking replays wont take 40minutes for most incidents when you consider that almost all the collisions occur within the first lap. However, I still don't think you should have to go through replays after every race to adjudicate incidents.

As Music said, I'd quite like it if everyone driving online in GT5 would give up making risky overtaking moves that do nothing other than cause accidents and force people off the line that they are perfectly entitled to take.

I think a lot of the problems for this race stem from the fact that there are quite a few random people joining each evening and not everyone is a GTP regular.

(ie. If you aren't presented with the opportunity to overtake cleanly and without risk to the other driver, you don't try to overtake),

a good driver under those circumstances and within the limits ofmy 400bhp race good theoretically keep someone behind them the whole lap of the nurburgring because of the way the course is designed

Seriously what's the point in this race if no one races clean?

Only ProPersian and KamyKaze1098 are capable of passing people cleanly or driving properly. The rest smash and bash their way past, they try to cause accidents at every available opportunity.

Just now at the end of the race, my tyres are obviously fading, Kimi2108 is faster cause of fresh tyres, but instead of waiting for a clean chance to pass on the massive straight, he just smashes me off the track. Why is that allowed?

The guy called Nethereal smashed me off deliberately at least twice, I finally managed to pass him when he smashed me off the track (again) but he spun himself in the process.

By the time I got clear (10mins into the race) Kamy had an incredible lead that I could never close with a broken car (a car which runs 10 seconds per lap faster normally).

I would like to see dirty drivers banned from this race. Most of them just quit anyway, all they do is make the entire race like a lottery. If you qualify first and don't have a false starter/lagger/rammer infront of you, or someone who rams into the back of you on the first corner, then you have pretty much won.

It's obvious that GrahamTurismo, myself, ProPersian, KamyKaze1098 and some others have the pace to compete with one another cleanly without driving like maniacs. It's a shame that every race see's most of us taken out on the first lap.

Of course I appreciate the races being organised, but can we have just a little bit of quality control? Investing an hour in a race only to be taken out by a kid who quits or thinks he can get away with it isn't really all that fun.

I can say exactly the same thing that you said to nethereal.

You were warping all over the place and add to that, you were on your 5. lap on the same tires sliding all over the place. I stayed behind you for a long time, because I knew getting by you would be easy with all the problems you had controlling your car with used tires. I gained on you even before my pitstop and massively after because you slowed downed alot.

And please go watch the replay if you can. I didnt ram you off the track at all. I took the inside line in a fast corner that doesnt turn much, and our sides touched which sent you off the track. And for this I also appologised afterwards. I did'nt change a thing because 4. place was way behind.

And you didn't have a long fight with pro_persian. it was with a guy called japanese_sniper who eventually quit after making a pitstop and getting passed by me, then realise he couldn't keep up. Pro_persian quit around lap 3 also after crashing on his own a few times.

TBH I think I have alot more to complain about than you. I started way back and got rammed off several times. By the time I was just a bit clear of someone I was already 41 secs behind Kamy. I ran a pace not so far off his, gaining in a few sectors then losing in some.

PS. I didnt even know it was a GTP race before I read it here today. I just joined the last moment and just managed to change into a car and press Go to Race at the 11 sec countdown, no kidding:)

in my opinion this race has to be privatized. people randomly join and just hit everyone. private races mean clean races. and i suggest to put the racing settings to normal when you start the server.

i got hit a full 3 rounds when ever i tried to pass people ( CLEANLY ) this person subzero was hiting me all over the places and same was with that kimi guy. i was so pissed that i left. couldnt take it anymore.. everytime i was closing the lead ( yea the guy in front had 1 minute lead ) i got hit by either subzero or other idiots. just make it private.

there is no way to make it private unless we get minimum ten people each time and then i will open the room and the ten people have to join fast before any randoms appear

What does the game recomend to you to set the room quality??
I think that is to set the amount of data to be transferred between players. The higher the better. Unless someone has a crappy connection. When i host a room it always says to choose the highest.

What the game recomends is based on your network. If its good it will recomend the max settings.
Of course if a laggy player enters the room, the room itself will suffer.

I'm not sure this is right. It's only my interpretation of what i see. It could be wrong.:dunce:

You could make the races private by organizing them in your Private Lounge, in stead of an Open Lobby. Only thing that has to be done is that every participant has to add you to their friends list.

I regret to say that i dont htink i have enough regulars yet for that sort of thing, maybe in a couple weeks

If I was warping then it's solely down to R88's connection not being able to handle that many people racing. However, the warping tends to go away later on in the race once most people have quit and only a few remain, which was when you passed me.

I don't think you rammed me deliberately, but you did overtake in a place which wasn't safe and I did get shunted off the track directly from contact by you. I just think it was a little disrespectful to do that when it was very clear your car was faster since you had fresh tyres. My car was running ten seconds per lap slower than normal in that race and had much less HP, so I'm not surprised you were catching me anyway.

Regarding the comments about Pro Persian, I guess you didn't read properly because I was referring to another race. He and I raced neck and neck for multiple laps without any serious accidents occurring and barely any body contact. I used that as a reference for the fact that I never ram people deliberately, or drive carelessly, since nethereal seemed to suggest I rammed him.

You were rammed off early just like me, neither of us can complain more than the other really. We were both negatively affected by others and both ended up 25-35 seconds behind Kamy by the time we managed to pass all the slower/maniac drivers.

Since warping is certainly a prevalent issue in these races and it didn't occur at all when Pro Persian hosted it, perhaps he should host some more. You need quite a bit of upstream bandwidth to run a race with 16 players without receiving packet loss (which causes warping). Since Pro Persian isn't English I'd assume his connection is in a superior position to host 16 players than R88's.

Slower drivers can indeed hamper the progress of faster drivers on a narrow circuit like the Nordschleife. However, if you remain behind them for a small period of time the pressure usually causes them to make a mistake, or you'll exit a corner faster than they do and the only way they can prevent you from passing is to ram you, which should result in them being disqualified or banned in future. You can't really drive cleanly and keep a faster driver behind you, even on the Nordschleife.

i think its much better to have a private room with 7 players than open room with 16 players hiting everyone because the wayt to get from 16th place to 1st in the 1st corner.
