OK, so maybe not as many people are in it, but I just raced it a bit and had fun. Wildly varying competition. I'm pretty lame, but in some cases I destroyed everybody in my Integra, or got blown out of the water by one guy with another Integra and wiped out everybody else, or got left standing by two orange Focus RSes which were both part of some team... since my lameness quotient is high, I'm enjoying how QUICK this race is. There's always another in a few minutes so it's low pressure ;)

I'm nowhere near 6:00 total race though. But I'm evolving a sort of tune. Will be very interested to see what people come up with- seems like a lot of Integras and those two Focuses.

I'm game, i've been waiting for this but with RWD,FWD,AWD cars together at 600pp. That would be heaven, or hell if its a bunch of noobs.

Dear Lord, why is nobody on!?!

I've just gotten back online after weeks of no PSN service... I quite enjoy this track and event... too bad there aren't as many people on this on NTSC. :(

My Daihatsu OFC maxes out at 511 PP... still looking for a weenie car to play this event with... the Integra is just so... so... easy.

Yeah, I have found this event to be more fun then I thought it would be. Using the Mini, at the moment.

What are some good lap times? Best I have run so far is a 1:12.5.

I've been racing this in PAL, and having a lot of fun.

I'm using the Ford Focus, and my best is 1'11.3, though there are a few out there that have found more speed than I!

Key to enjoying this race is to focus on advancing your position, rather than expecting to win, even if you are clearly the fastest on the track. If you start in 7th place, you will be about 10 seconds back by the first split. Making up more than 2 seconds a lap is a bit much to ask for such a short course with so few clean passing opportunities.

Nice time! Will have to try the Focus. And I agree about just trying to advance. It is fun to try and get a clean pass when behind.

When I started, I was averaging 1:13s.

Currently, with my Integra, am doing 1:11.5 - 1:11.8 (between mistakes) and consistently in the 1:12s... you know how it is... my connection is slower than dial-up, so I sometimes have lag if there are more than six people on.... ...when no one is looking, I sometimes do 1:14s...

I've started running the Focus... down to about 1:11.8, and in the mid 1:12s when I'm not paying attention.

I'm really rusty... haven't driven much since GT4, and I've been practicing on and off for the past few months. I'm glad that we have these races to refine our race-craft.

Man, some of your PAL guys are fast... I was looking over Jackington and Viper's posts... high 1:10s in the Focus... insane! I would love to chase those times if I could find a place to fix my DFGT. Do you guys on PAL use wheels or controllers?

The trick to this event is to find the proper handling balance and the proper balance between grip and power. If you're adventurous, you can play with tire matching. Having R1s or R2s in the rear won't hurt speed too much, but it'll allow you to dial in more power for that long climb up the hill at the end. Anything less than 220 hp (at about 1200 kgs) won't get you up the hill fast enough to stay in the running. The rest is finding a suspension tune that you're comfortable with and that allows you to be consistent. That's why Integras are so popular here, very forgiving of mistakes... but the extra torque of the Focus gives it an advantage in the slow corners.

I still haven't found a competitive tune for the Cooper or the Swift... tires too skinny, I think...

---

The trick is to drive conservatively in the slow corners... take your time to slow down and hit the apexes. If you're turning into the grass, you're too slow, if you're wide of the apex, you're way too fast. Anything under or around 30 seconds flat at the split is competitive.

Then pull out all the stops on the back half of the track... get your exit speeds as high as possible on the big 180 before the tunnel, and try to hit at least 150 through the fast right-hander halfway up. The exit is my biggest boggle, I'm still not sure I'm doing the fastest possible line through the last turn.

The best I've done in the Integra is 1'11.0, and the best in the Focus is 1'11.8 but I've had alot more fun in the Focus.

I have only seen one gtp tag in this race so far. I'll try the times posted here.

What's your tune? Full 550?

I'm trying to see how low you can get the PP before performance degrades to the point the car won't be able to stay in front of a well driven 550.

So far, 547 seems to be the limit (can still get under 1:12) 545 and under, you'll just get creamed.

I accidentally started a race without checking my PP. The blasted PS3 resets weight every time you log into the race, so I entered the race with a 531 PP Focus. I lasted in first place until the tunnel... and in second place until the tunnel on the second lap.

I always run max PP, since I feel that without qualification, it's unfair for me to claim an advantageous start position. This is especially true at a track like Eiger, where start position has such a large impact.

I sometimes mix it up... 547... 549... 550... just to see how quick I can get. It's fun trying to see if you can stay ahead of a guy in a faster car. And I'm polite... if the guy behind me is in a position to overtake, I pull aside and let him through at the earliest opportunity.

I think this game is best enjoyed with 6 or less participants. Just had a doozy... 4-way race... managed to hold off a 550 Integra and a 550 Focus for three or four laps in a 547 Atenza... kept them at bay until we got bottled up behind a slower guy in another Integra at 547 (he streaked away from me at first (better PWR, better take-off), then I bunched up against him by lap three. When the other two caught up with us, I let the 550 Focus go through (the 550 Integra was very quick, but too eager, he crashed trying to overtake) and followed him and the faster Teg past the slower Teg. I managed to keep up for another lap, but they opened up a 2-3 second gap on me by the end of the race. If I'd been able to pass the 547 Teg cleanly, I could have kept ahead... just can't get the big thing to run faster than the 1:12s it does now... After that, I got back on in my 547 Teg and left the same group of drivers behind on a good drive... missing the 6 minute mark by just two or three seconds (overshot a turn or two in the last lap... boring when you're 8-10 seconds clear of everyone else  ).

Still can't find anything competitive with the Teg and the Focus. I thought I was losing it... after hours of tuning, I was still at the 1:12s with the MINI. I felt that since it has an LSD, it should come within the same range as the other two, but it just can't. Get in the Integra afterwards, and I'm immediately in the 11s. The MINI just isn't any better than the Swift, which has no turbo, no LSD and really puny rubber. :( Going to try the Golf after I get over my Atenza kick.
