I bet money that the Mazda 6 will be very good here thanks to its longer wheelbase meaning more traction in the twisties. I'll get a tune out for it on the weekend.

I'd be really happy about a tune for the Mazda6 on this, I enjoyed driving it on Fuji very much! :)

First of all, what times does everyone think we should be doing this? :12 :24 :36 would probably work out best because the races are way too short, but before I put it in the thread title, I thought I'd ask what everyone else thinks too.

Everyone have fun and remember to follow the standard GTP_OLR rules! 👍

I think :8 or :10. 👍

One that the 147 probably won't be good in. It's too rigid and will have problems with the track layout, and not enough low end torque I think.

I better get to work on the Golf too.

please man don't say that :( , the Alfa will be my baby on this track too :D
I bet with a bit of practice it'll beat everything else that's FWD :nervous::dunce:

;)

OK, just turn down the force feedback, or the jump in particular will not be a pleasant experience.;)

New day, new event, this on paper looks like a neat idea, first impressions, very poor. tried several cars, seems the Type R could be the car of choice at this event, my knowledge of preparing a quick tune is rather limited, even so the Type R was doing mid 10's in free run and mid-high 10's in a race. Which brings me to the race, where my opinion of this event begins to change from the + to the -. Several random races later shows people have already figured out and begun to lower their PP, to claim the all important grid position. To have the all important cleanish race requires a good grid position even then the tight twisty nature of this track does not offer many differnt lines round the course and overtaking a fellow racer will require a different line which takes up some time when you have drafted and are already beginning to think about braking for the next corner. You then stay tight only for the other driver to turn in and push you into the inner barrier or you go wide, again for the other driver to lean on you and again push you into the barrier. Of the 2/3 straights where a pass is capable due to faster car/ drafting all lead into unforgiving corners when you have received a push from behind.
Obviously here at GTPlanet you have organized events, but the bad element will still gate crash and have a field day spoiling your race. The other thing to note is this event will more than likely provide a lot more close contact racing, what heated forum chat will follow that?

After racing a bit more on this now, and getting punted all over the place, throwing into the wall etc too many times while trying to pass etc, I think we will all begin to really hate this race unless we start teating it like touge - i.e. set some fast lap times working together and drive as a close a gap as possible/tailgaiting.

I think we need to work out another time for a Touge start, and as GTP'ers, all pull over at the start of course (as you will always have a few punters who have jumped in) and then race as close as possible. You can still have fun without overtaking.

There also seems to be more newbies in this who haven't got PP tuning yet and are therefore running with much lower 490pp's etc, I just lapped one in the last race, or be it he was very poor.

No point in people comparing total times becuase you can be over 10secs off when you haven't even passed the line, and thats before you have to "attempt" to overtake possble punters.

Re laps time, just been experimenting with a few old setups and gearing and did a 1.11.5xx in the Golf Gti after a few laps, but the common Integra is clearly the quickest (again), managed a 10.8xx in free run with it, consistant low 1.11secs in the free air while leading a few races.

Tried a few races tonight. Not much fun when you starting in tenth position , 15 seconds behind the guy in front when passing the start(!) line who for some reason only has tuned to 548 PP and therefore is in front of all the other 549 PP guys. The two or three you have immediately in front of you have very limited understanding of how to race and the only thing you yourself have to race for is the 30 s limit to finsih the race.

Eiger is fun but I think I will choose another event.

Just did a 1'10.377 in a race with Jakington in Focus's. There is still some more to come off with this car and tune.

I don't think I will be participating in this effect, besides all the punting, and impossibility to overtake "cleanly" when someone is of the same level as you, I'm just finding it really boring...

On a few occasions I've started in 2nd (running lower PP's, sorry) went flat out and the 1st postion person couldn't increase the 2 second gap, and I couldn't gain on him, last race I went over the line 5.59, hime 5.57, neither of us made mistakes and couldn't go any faster, and its was really boring without overtaking (I take it back, its not fun) or having an slipstream to catch him.

I can't believe I am going to say it, but if there is one race that needs the RBE to make it more exciting, its this, its just boring or very frustrating!

It is very difficult this one. Hard to overtake as it is narrow and there is no high speed slipstream. It's different, for sure, but I think its novelty has worn off for me. If you start at the back in the rolling start, it is impossible to get to the front (unless every other driver is useless).

Is this event dead?
That would be a shame, it's true that it's hard to pass here and 5 laps is to short to have a real competative race but still it's the first time we have Eiger in expert class and the track is such a joy to drive.
Still hoping to see some action here in the future.

I love this event - especially with my Mini Cooper S. Don't think I have met any tagged GTPers yet but had some close racers nonetheless. Some guy called Qwertyboy (or toy) was awesome.

Are the times daily? what hours are we talking? I'd love to see some GTPers to race with.
