Number of gears question.

I searched the forums, really.

Is there a master list that shows the number of gears that each car has stock and also with the full custom transmission? I saw the master list sticky and it only shows gears as it is in the dealership (e.g. stock), not after transmission mods applied.

The number of gears makes a massive difference in the tuning potential of the different cars in the game, especially top end. It would be OK to buy a car with a 4-speed transmission (some older cars I like) if it can be modded to 6 or 7 speeds by adding a full customized transmission. It wouldn't be cool to buy if it can be modded to only 5 speeds. The game saves as soon as you purchase a car and again when you add the transmission mod so I can't test this out without burning through all my money.

make a backup before you buy the car and tune it... if it doesn't work how you like, just exit out and restore.. if it does, proceed as normal.

I don't think there's a list sorry. In general, you will gain 1 gear. Except cars with 6 speeds or more won't gain any. There's probably exceptions to this though.

It's random. Some gain gears and some stay the same. I've seen 4 speeds gain 1 gear and some stay 4. I've seen 5 speeds stay same and some gain. 6 or higher stays the same
