As most of us know, Nordschleife has quickly become a hot spot for vehicle manufacturers to test and tune new cars, sporty or not, before releasing them to the masses. There's a never ending battle between all of the top guns for the top time. Of course there are plenty of things to factor in aside from the car, like the driver, driving conditions, weather, deer (graphic content)......... Anyways, the point of this thread is to gather some vehicle comparisons in GT6!

1. Leave a reply with a vehicle (please be specific with the exact vehicle name in the game)
2. I'll grab the vehicle (pending accessibility), do 1 warm up lap followed by 10 complete laps of Nordschleife, and post the fastest lap time recorded.

Now for some rules/guidelines to try to keep the results somewhat regulated:

- Track conditions will be default and identical every time (13:00, time progression set to 1, 0% weather at start, 0 weather changeability, 0% surface water at the start, grip reduction on track edge will be set to real)
- Vehicle will be used in it's exact form that it appears in the dealership, aside from sport soft tires, or racing soft tires if they are available on the vehicle
- No traction control, ABS, SRF, or ASM
- Any vehicle that has downforce adjustments available will have them set to the middle of the angle available (if lowest is 10, and highest is 50, it will be set to 30)
- If the vehicle has a manual gearbox available in real life, I will use manual. If it uses paddle shifters and has NO manual gearbox available, I will use paddle shifters (semi automatic)

For my setup, I am using a G27 with 6 speed shifter. I'm not going to try to show off my driving abilities, I'm just trying to have some fun here and try to spark some conversation once we start to gather some results! I will keep this first post updated with all results. Results will be broken down by Overall, FF, FR, MR, RR, 4WD, EV, further separated by non race car and race car categories. As more results start to come in, I may start to add categories like PP brackets.

Keep in mind I may not be able to get to your request right away, so please be patient! Each session will take anywhere from an hour to over two hours depending on the car.

NOTE: Feel free to post your best lap time using these guidelines, and I'll add it to the list!

if the test allowed to keep aero as it is and abs 1 i would post a couple times. but in any case it would be pretty useless since i play with a pad with AT:P

First result is from the Ford Focus ST 15th Anniversary Edition! After 10 laps, managed a 7:47.218. Great car to throw into the corners real hard, and very good under braking, with the back end wanting to snake out occasionally. Unfortunately, the gearing is terrible at the top end. 5th gear is far too tall, and you'll never see 6th unless this car is heavily tuned and the gears are changed. Though there's nothing to compare it against yet, it felt quite good!

I only switched ABS to 0 from 1 when someone had mentioned it was far better to manage braking modulation in GT6, compared to GT5. I've found it to be quite good so far, and only really run into lock up issues with comfort tires or sports hard, on heavy vehicles. Vehicles that nose dive heavily under braking seem to lock up easily too.

I will probably add PP classes once there's some more results on the list.

I've gone back and redone the Focus ST run with Comfort Soft tires, which is what it comes with. I've decided to just stick to the tires that the vehicle sells with. It will provide better feedback towards the cars performance where upgraded tires will start to make up for what flaws may be in the car. I expected the lap time to be about 30 seconds slower, and it was near that coming in at 8:15:142.

I'll run with one of the KTMs tomorrow. Feel free to reply with a vehicle you want to see a time for!

Wasn't aware someone had been doing this for GT5 as well! I might take one or two cars for a go in both and see how different the times are and how they feel.

One thing I noticed with the Focus, especially on the comfort tires, is the tire squeal really does help in terms of grip feedback, where in GT5, it didn't. It's very easy for this car to understeer when you are just passed the grip threshold. It turns hard again once you back off even just a tiny bit.

This Focus really should have been the first DNF on the list, because I put it on the roof 3 times in the first go around on Sport Softs! Suspension is quite stiff in this car, so some of the curbs were nasty to it!

Which version? I'll put that on the list and give it a go probably Wednesday. Work Christmas party tomorrow.
R-version ;)

I'd like to do this myself as well, but I'm so inconsistent and I tend to spin off a lot on the tight parts, so I'd have to do many laps with each car to get a proper time. :dunce:

KK. I don't have the R, I currently have the Street version, but once I get my hands on the R, it'll go round!

Well, I managed a 9:13 with an Abarth 500, stock, stock tires, everything turned off except ABS on 1, manual and using a controller.

If Wally runs the X-Bow R, I'll run something else that I have in my garage tonight. Also, if you don't reply with a suggestion, feel free to run some laps and post the results! Let's make sure we're all following the same setup I've set in the first post, in terms of car and track conditions and setup. I'll also make the results easier to read.

can you add PP classes like 500 550 600 etc? it doesnt make sense for me otherwise

You already asked for that, and I already replied.

The M4 has quickly turned in to a favorite for me, so I'll likely run it next, since it's in my garage.

Wouldn't it be nice if we had a real leaderboard in game so threads like this weren't needed?

I'm afraid it would get populated with hacked cars and cheats though :(

Ring laptimes in GT6 already seem to be ridiculously unrealistic, it's a shame we're not at the point where we can compare them to real life. For example a Focus ST going under 8 mins is a fairytale! You're talking times comparable to a Porsche 911 GT3, Pagani Zonda, Ferrari 599, Lamborghini Murcielago.

So much emphases is put on ring times these days with Manufacturers hitting low 7min or sub 7min times I think people don't realise how fast a sub 8min time is in the real world. I think it's fairly certain the cars making the ring records these days are not quite as standard as an off the shelf car, nor are the tyres!

Well, if traffic were enabled, and atmospheric conditions, dirt/fluids on the track were too, and then crucially, the game was linked to your bank account, so prangs started deducting 4 figure sums from your bank account automatically, I think the times would be a lot more comparable.

You think Nurburgring laptime records are set on days open to the public, set by the everyday joe?

Nurburgring public days have

1. No video allowed rule, even tho it gets broken you can be banned from the ring for breaking it.
2. No timing equipment
3. You don't complete a full lap on public days
4. Part of the public day track have speed limits.

On light days, this is where bridge to gantry times are measured.

When there is an accident at the ring, the first thing they look for is a timing device or what was last on your phone...

No, you missed my point - in GT the conditions and environment are entirely predictable, and there are zero consequences for pushing just a bit too hard - without consequences, it'll never be comparable even if the physics was a lot more realistic.

That explains a Ford Focus lapping the ring in the same time as a £300,000 supercar? I own a Focus ST too, I wish it compared to a Pagani Zonda, i do. You can watch some of the laptime records for the real world cars, they are pushing the car every bit as hard as most do in a game. The recent NISMO GT-R video where they do a 7:08.

See how he's attacking the curbs? If this isn't pushing hard then I don't know what is, the lap is absolute madness.

This topic was meant to compare vehicles within the game, not against their real life counterparts. Take this elsewhere please.

This weekend I'll get a time down for the KTM X-Bow Street, BMW M4, and hopefully the KTM X-Bow R 15th Anniversary Edition.

Also, still sorting out a better presentation of the results. Unfortunately, the forum does not support tables.
