Nurburgring Race Series Week 6 (DODGE RAM 1500 HEMI QUAD CAB)

Bloody hell Dave!!

btw, it seems ive offended a few of you with what i said yesterday whilst trying to make conversation, i apologise, i didnt mean to upset.

Ill butt out.

:irked:👍

Mate, I cant see where you said anything offensive enough to offend anyone who may get offended by someone writing something that may be offensive to them :boggled:👍

As for butting out, good lad smoking is a dirty habit. ( now that may be offensive )
So stick around and do try to get those times in this week , no offence 👍

Board updated!

As for myself, I'm very busy these last two weeks. It's already thursday evening, and I still haven't had a chance to even buy the car :P

I'll probably only find some time this weekend, and even then it'll probably be limited to one or two clean laps. So I think I won't be retaining my usual (give or take) top 5-spot this week :indiff:

Anyway, I'm not big on trucks, but I'm actually looking forward to giving this a go :P

I wasnt really a truck fan either Bart but must say i was impressed with this one, my laps that i ran were the most consistent of all the weeks we have done so far and i quite enjoyed making this thing handle half decent!!

Know what you mean about the time factor though mate, im currently doing a 12 hour shift at work, and same tomorrow and sunday......great :yuck:

cheers

Dave

Okay so I am assuming we have until Monday to submit? sorry for the hassle guys. This one I want to put in some time on Sunday. Laters.

MAN! Just had 2 great runs (after I shook off the effects that the JGTC WRS car left me with :P)

T10: 6'52.799

And I really think that I may be able ti get it down a little more.

To whoever suggested going slower through Hatzenbach to enable more acceleration ... that worked nicely 👍

And VT ... I changed my settings slightly ... 2/1 camber and dropped my ride height to 188/189, something like that ... it must have helped, because these laps are a lot faster that I was running during the week.

I'm happy with them :)

Nice work, Nat. 👍

I just had a run with Dave's setup, and for me.... :yuck: . Kudos to you Dave for running so fast with that setup. I found it to be no more stable through the fast stuff, while introducing a whole lotta post-apex understeer for me.

*shrug* Still looking for that good clean lap, currently somewhere in the 6'50s.

Vt cheers for making it sound like my set-up is poor :indiff:

I found that the truck was very predictable with my set-up and yes i mentioned the understeer you found but its more than manageable, i think its a safer option than getting the back coming round on this one :)

It just goes to show that set-ups work around personal drving style and what feels right for one person doesnt work for the next, if there was one great set-up for a given car im sure we would see everyone finding that it worked and using it.

regards

Dave

I'm sorry Dave, I've just realised my post sounded a bit negative. What I was trying (poorly) to say was much along the lines of your post. I'm well aware that car setup is a subjective art and what feels comfortable for one person may not feel the same to another. I didn't feel comfortable with those settings, but that means nothing. If it works, go for it. 👍

Right, well I finally got a half-decent lap. I made some errors on this one (including one that almost took me off-road) but this is probably the time I'll submit:

T1: 0'47.953
T2: 1'25.458
T3: 1'55.890
T4: 2'50.141
T5: 3'31.151
T6: 4'01.056
T7: 4'54.175
T8: 5'39.431
T9: 6'02.700
T10: 6'48.098

Using this setup:
184/185
4/5
2.7/1.0

My first and final splits:

T1: 49.599
T2: 1'28.315

T3: 1'59.751
T4: 2'55.670
T5: 3'37.459
T6: 4'07.632
T7: 5'02.251
T8: 5'48.920
T9: 6'13.097
T10: 7'00.112

I know, they're 🤬 , but to be honest, I hated every second of this drive, so I just couldn't be bothered with trying to get rid of the many little errors in my lap. The only good thing I found in this 'boat' were the decent brakes...

Submitted the poor lap :indiff:

Looking forward to next week, return to decent cars :D 👍

loved the truck. on the replays you can see the front tires trying their best to grab hold and smoke everywhere.

Time submitted, everytime i tried to push a bit harder crashed and burned :ouch: .
Good luck all, looking forward to the W7 vote 👍

Ive had about 7 laps in total, and managed to complete this one cleanly.

Me and Dave will be close.

T10: 6'51.585

Good luck to all of you!!!!

Hmmmm, having read the thread properly, it seems i am some time behind Dave.

Maybe a few more laps wouldve helped, but im embarking on a new chapter in my life and its turning out to be time consuming.

I'll try harder soon, i just need to do a few things first, then it'll be back to the racing!!

Anyway, i enjoyed driving this hunk o' junk when i could left foot brake it, and i used this:

height, front higher, 190 i think, maybe 200.
rear was as low as it goes...

susp i had the back at 6, and the front at 8.

camber was 2.2 on the front, and i had full on 3.0 at the rear.

Drives like a viper with a big bonnet or hood as some say.

Anyway, im outta here, lets go see whats next...

Ive had about 7 laps in total
I put on 360 miles.

Settings:
181/181
6/6
3.0/2.0

I tried with Dave's 4/8 shocks, but 6/6 felt like it gave better traction (esp. for acceleration).

Also, I think moving the deadline to Monday is great. If it had been Sunday, for this week, I would've missed submitting on time. For us in EST, having all of Sunday free to race is helpful.
