I couldn't find any thread dedicated to my favorite band(well, at least in top three), so here it is! Please feel free to discuss anything about the band here. Even the haters are welcome. :)

Oasis is finally releasing their new album, "Don't Believe The Truth" on May 30th. According to the NME.COM interview of Noel Gallagher, this is their best effort since their first album, "Definitely Maybe".

http://www.nme.com/news/111875.htm

Their new single "Lyla", which is to be released on May 16, can be heard at their official site. Just click on the link, select "Launch Radio Supernova" on your left, then choose "album tracks" from the playlist.

I thought "Lyla" was pretty good, but then again, I'm somewhat biased. I've heard only this one track from the new album, but I'm really, really hoping it's an classic, like their stuff from the mid-90's(2 albums, countless excellent b-sides). Last three albums by Oasis has been mediocre to just good at best, so there is a lot riding on this album. :ill:

Edit: The release of "Don't Believe The Truth" in the U.S. is May 31st. According to bestbuy.com, there might be a double-disc version available(probably a bonus single CD).

I like their music, but I don´t like their attitude. I have only one Oasis album so far - "What´s The Story (Morning Glory)" and I like it a lot. My favorite Oasis song is Champagne Supernova.

I should get a live album of them, and maybe I´ll get this one too. :)

I feel the same, I just dis like Liam Gallacher

I don't particularly like "Lyla" but after watching an interview where they said that Lyla was nowhere near best on the album I might check it out.

I just, erm...got a preview version of "Don´t Believe The Truth" album. It has the following five songs:

02 - Mucky Fingers
03 - Lyla
06 - Meaning of Soul
09 - Keep the Dream Alive
11 - Let There Be Love

I´m listening to it right now, and it sounds pretty good so far. 👍

Edit: I just finished listening to it, my favorites are Lyla, Keep The Dream Alive and Let There Be Love. Although I tend to get bored of the songs I enjoy the first time through, and the ones I didn´t notice at first become my favorites.

Nice, the preview version. :D Glad to hear it's pretty good. I can't wait till the release! :)

I was into Oasis in for awhile in hight school which for me was about 8 years ago.
I didn't love them or whatever but Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova were nice songs.

Then I saw and interview with them. Anyone who show's that much disregard for the fans doesn't really deserve their attention as far as I go.

I applauded when I heard the lead singer had a couple of teeth knocked out at a bar sometime in the last year or so. I'm sure he had it coming!

Yes! Oasis and Jet is coming to Washington!! They will not stop by Portland(where I live) in this tour, but they are coming to Everett, Washington. Which is just north of Seattle, and probably about 4 hours north of Portland. I'm going to the show with a buddy of mine, who's a Jet fan. They just finished the fansite pre-sale of the tickets, but they will officialy start the sale on the 5/7, this Saturday. If anybody from the NW is interested, check it out. It's $45 for the lower level, $35 for the cheap seats.

This link will take you to the Everett show ticket sales. http://www.oasis.tickets.musictoday.com/Oasis/moreInfo.aspx
Try calling in the order through the 1(800) number. It worked better for me. Tickets go on sale this Saturday, May 7th, at 10AM.

This is a great chance to see two great bands for the price of one! :)

I just checked out the "Don't Believe The Truth" sample at iTunes.com(UK). It sound really good. 👍 I think it has an potential to be their third best album. We'll see. ;)

P.S. If anybody in the U.S. looking to buy this CD(due out this Tuesday), BestBuy is advertising that there will be a bonus disc to be included with an purchase of the new album.

Good news from the www.oasisinet.com:
LYLA IS NO 1!
24 May 2005

Fantastic news Lyla is No 1 in this weeks UK chart and will be the bands 7th UK No 1 !!! The band also made No 1 in Japan and No 2 in Italy. Oasis have also been awarded the Most Successful Act of the last decade 1995-2005, with 766 weeks in the official UK singles and Albums charts as awarded by the Book of British Hits Singles and Albums published by the Guinness World Records .

I only have "What´s The Story (Morning Glory)" and I love it, so I think I will have to check this album out.

Today, the most anticipated software, since Gran Turismo 4 was released....... Oasis - Don't Believe The Truth! OK, it was more comparable to Pacman for GameBoy Color. :D

I purchased the "Dual Disc" version($11.99 at BestBuy). I guess, this is a new thing record companies are doing on CDs. It's one side CD, flip it over and it's a DVD. This paticular D.D. had "Lyla" music video and the "making of" feature on the DVD side. Documentary is called "The Ear Has No Memory". 👍 Only down side of these CDs are, it won't play on certain CD players. My coworker told me, his Dave Mathews :yuck: CD won't play on his DVD player. When I tried to play it on my CD player at work, it didn't play either. My setup at work was my Panasonic portable(w/remote 👍 ) and Yamaha 2 satellite/subwoofer. It worked on all other CD players, including my Sony portable, however. I made a copy of the album tonight, so hopefully my Panasonic will be able to play it tomorrow. :)

Oh yes, the album. I love almost every songs in it. My current favorites are "Lyla", "Love Like A Bomb" and "The Importance Of Being Idle". This one has more acoustic guitars than any other oasis albums, and any oasis fans know, that's an great thing. Leader of oasis, Noel Gallagher had some brilliant acoustic performances that never got released. Some of them, like the cover of the Beatles' classic "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" ended up on b-sides of single CDs. Anyways, the BestBuy edition comes with a bonus disc, featuring the 5 live tracks from '94. The songs I remember are Columbia, Live Forever, Super Sonic, Cigarettes & Alcohol and ..... I can't remember(sorry).

I hope anybody reading this will check this CD out. :)

I got the album yesterday and cant stop listening to it. Its great.

I was a huge fan back in the 90's, but went off them when they released Be Here Now. But now i can safely say i am a fan again.

Loving most of the songs on it, especially Love Like A Bomb, The Importance of Being Idle and The Meaning Of SOul.

Anyone else agree that Noel's voice sounds pretty damn good?

What should I get, this or Kasabian?
I have both the new oasis and Kasabian CDs. "Don't Believe The Truth" by oasis is waaaaaaay better than the Kasabian's CD(self titled). In a earlier post, I said "Don't Believe" has an potential to be oasis' top three albums. After listening to it, non-stop since the U.S. release(5/31), I think it might become my second favorite oasis album, behind "(What's The Story)Morning Glory?".

I've noticed FatAssBR and 911 has been listening to the new oasis songs lately in the "what are you listening to?" thread. :) 👍 My current favorites are Mucky Fingers, A Bell Will Ring and Let There Be Love.

P.S. I can't wait to see the triple header of oasis, Jet and Kasabian in Everett, Washingon(USA). It's in September and if they cancel, I think I'll shoot myself. :D

"Be Here Now" was, one HUGE release for oasis and they blew it. Two albums that followed were nothing special, so you didn't miss much. :D

Yes! Albumwise, it's the best it's ever been. He's always had amazing performances in lives and singles(b-sides) though.

I don't like Kasabian so I guess me saying: "Oasis!" would be biased.
I bought the Kasabian CD, when I found out they are opening for oasis & Jet. Some songs are pretty good, but I'd rate them about "C+".

I got the new album, and after the first listening, I have to say that it's not nearly as good as What's the Story (Morning Glory). THe only song that sticks out in my mind is Turn Up the Sun. Much better than Lyla, IMO.

lyla is awsome, i love most of their songs, little by little and songbird specially.

has anyone heard this...

Greenday vs Oasis - Boulevard of broken dreams vs Wonderwall

I bought Coldplay. I was going for Oasis at first but then I listened to some of the clips from it and I really didn't like it as much as the songs on "What´s The Story (Morning Glory)". Also I watched a live concert from Coldplay last night that had thier songs from "X&Y" and I liked it.

RFTurismo
I was thinking of either buying this CD tonight or Coldplay's new CD.
Thanks for reminding me. I was gonna get that CD and I forgot all about it. "Don't Believe The Truth" is really good. I've liked Coldplay from the very beginning, and am thinking "X&Y" also should be very good. I don't think you can go wrong, either way. :)

Event and chinco(what a name) didn't like Lyla, but that song takes little bit to warm up to. I thought it was just OK at the beginning. Now, I can't get enough of it. The whole album was that way for me, actually.

Well I have no money now. So when ever I get more money im going to buy it I guess just to give it a try and the new Foo Fighters CD next Tuesday.

I think I'm going to pick up the "X & Y" tonight. Also, the oasis CD might not have sounded too exciting the first time, but if you get a chance to get it in the future, I recommend it. Took me several listens for me to warm up to it. Now, I'm listening to the CD, like 3, 4 times a day.

Edit: I finished listening to the Coldplay's "X&Y". So far, I like their first two albums better. I like the oasis' "Don't Believe The Truth" and Gorillaz "Demon Days" better, but I do like it more than the Weezer's "Make Believe".

Dude!. 👍 I just heard this, after reading you post. It was amazing. The version I heard also featured Travis and Aerosmith for just tiny bit. It's probably the same one you were talking about. Again, it's amazing. Thanks for bringing it up! :)

I haven't got to Aerosmith yet but there's definately Travis in there.

*EDIT - Didn't hear any Aerosmith but there was Eminem at the end.

Wasn't there that "dream on..." line from their song? It was their first hit song, I believe. Maybe there are different versions being distributed?

P.S. Where did you get that Keira avatar? She is just so.... :embarrassed: That's the best pic of her, I've seen.....

That part at the end. You said it was Eminem? I bet he sampled Aerosmith. The song, "Dream On"(I think it was called) started around 4:10.

P.S. Did I ever tell you, you are my favorite GTP member? :D Thanks for the link!

The radios here only started to play Lyla yesterday....

Also, I heard this album is selling great in Europe, but crappy in USA.
