The radios here only started to play Lyla yesterday....

Also, I heard this album is selling great in Europe, but crappy in USA.
Yeah. Most of the people I know aren't big fan of the band. Oasis really blew it, after releasing the second album. P**sed off too many fans with their antics. :indiff: Oasis has a huge following in Japan, but they openly talk about how they hate Japan and Japanese girls are ugly, so on. I love their music, but their personality is very low quality, unfortunately. 👎

Blasphemy!! Some Japanese girls are simply beautiful!
Keyword highlited in red. :D Yeah, there are some amazing looking Japanese girls, and they get cuter and cuter IMO. I can kinda see what Noel(I think it was him) was saying, but it's not something you say about your fans. Without your fans, you're nothing.

As I mentioned in the "favorite concert experience" thread, I went to Everett, WA to see Oasis friday. You can read about the details of that in the concert thread if you are interested, but one thing about Oasis that amazed me was their new drummer. His name is Zak Starkey. Does the last name sound familiar? He is son of Richard Starkey, who's also known as Ringo Starr. Zak's rhythm was just, too perfect. Seriously, i started checking to see if he was actually playing, and it wasn't the machine. :D On top of that, he's like a energizer bunny of drumming. He just kept "going and going and going". Last song of the show was The Who's, "My Generation". I swear it was his most powerful performance of the night, and it's not like he was slacking. I really like him, especially his last name. ;) I hope he'll stay with Oasis for long time to come. 👍

Oasis is the greatest band on the planet. I listen to all their albums all the time. Going to see them in Houston in two weeks. Live Forever.

Will you still get Kasabian & Jet on the Houston show? Jet wasn't too impressive in Everett, Washington, but I'd make sure to catch Kasabian if I were you. :)

Yeah they are both coming. Jet is pretty weak, but Kasabian are Fooking MEGA. Good to see another Oasis fan in the US. How did ya like the show?

The crowd was pretty laid back at Everett, but personally, I was pretty impressed. After the let down by Jet, I thought Oasis was going to slack off too, but they were top notch all the way through! 👍 I really enjoyed performances by Zak and Noel. When Noel started to sing "The Importance of Being Idle", I didn't think he could match his vocal on the CD album. Boy, was I wrong, cause he did even better! Zak was really amazing, no other way to describe it. I hated to see Allan get fired, but seeing Zak in the lineup makes it less painful.

I hope you have fun at the Houston show. :)

Oh my god, oh my god. Oasis is coming back to the States so soon! So far, they've announced only Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Nashville and Houston. I'm pretty sure they'll add California dates or two. If I'm really lucky, they will swing by the Northwest. Everett(only NW show, near Seattle) show had really poor attendance, so chances are pretty good they won't come back to Washington for a while. I hope they are considering Portland.

Presale of tickets for the shows announced so far(starts tomorrow morning). http://www.oasis.tickets.musictoday.com/Oasis/calendar.aspx

It's not much, but I found a World Cup article related to Oasis, so I thought I'll post it here:

GALLAGHER INSPIRES ITALIAN WORLD CUP WIN

OASIS rocker NOEL GALLAGHER was the inspiration behind Italy's FIFA World Cup Final triumph over France yesterday (09JUL06), because he is striker ALESANDRO DEL PIERO's lucky charm. Gallagher became friends with the Juventus star after meeting him at a gig in Italy, and he became Del Piero's "lucky charm" after watching him score against Germany in the semi-final match played last week (ends07JUL06). He says, "It was the first time I'd seen Italy play and before the game we went to the hotel and Del Piero was a bit upset because he wasn't starting but he then said, 'I'm going to come off the bench and score.' "After the game he said I'd become his lucky mascot so I went to the Final and wore the exact same clothes and underwear and socks to bring him good luck." Del Piero came on as a second half substitute and scored one of Italy's penalties in their shootout victory.

Yeah I read about that in the papers yesterday, I thought it was quite funny!

Anyway, on the subject of Oasis, I've been into them since I was about 8, somewhere between Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory. I've also got all their albums since then, including The Masterplan which has all their B-sides.

I've been to see them in concert twice, including once in Manchester which is their hometown gig (so very special), and that was in the City of Manchester Stadium which is the home of Manchester City, the football team they both support. So it was a super special occasion! I also went to see them in Sheffield on my birthday this year (February 10th). The whole audience was so fanatical on both occasions it was great.

I remember back in the mid-90's when Oasis and Blur were massive, and most people in my school were involved in a huge rivalry - you couldn't like them both! Looking back, if we were mature enough, everyone would have just enjoyed them both because they were great bands! :)

I've been to two of their concerts as well. First one was Portland, near where I live. It was in 2000, I think for the "Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants". Then another one in Everett, Washington(state) last September for their "Don't Believe The Truth". Both Concerts were really awesome. First one was opened by Travis, who I had never heard of at the time. I bought their CD prior to them coming to town, they did not dissapoint. In the second one, it was Kasabian followed by Jet.

I've also seen blur, once. I knew about the rivalry, but I think I started liking both bands around the same time in the height of their rivalry about 1995. "Universal" by blur and "Champagne Supernova" by Oasis got me into the bands. By the time I heard their albums, other songs on the albums were so good, they became one of my least favorites songs. :D I'm still a huge fan of both.

Good evening. I just wanted to share this video xAkirax2004 posted in the "What are you listening to" thread.

Noel Gallagher and Gem Archer performing Wonderwall. Live. Unplugged. 👍

To many Oasis fans, I think much of their favorite Oasis performances involve Noel and a acoustic guitar. There are so many "unplugged" versions of the classics, or their own covers, and they all sound great..... at least to me. :D

My coworker asks me about oasis this morning. How I was doing, now that band has broken up. I had no idea, it was the first I heard this big news.

Without missing a beat, I replied, "it's about time". "They haven't done much lately, and Noel's better off on his own anyway". :D

I come home, get online to look up this news, and I find this on their official site:

A STATEMENT FROM NOEL

28 August 2009

"It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.

"Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan."

Is it for real? I've always been a Noel fan, and not a big one of Liam's. I know the press has always been impressed with Liam, and often, even of his songwriting skills. Personally, I think he just gets in the way.

Like I said, I don't think oasis has been getting anywhere as of late anyway. Regardless of this is a publicity stunt or not, ultimately, I think this will lead to Noel creating better music. I mean, talk about motivation, right? :D

?Meh?

Good for Noel... but this move comes quite a few years too late... songwriter/guitarists don't often do that well when they split up from their band... so the extra boost in recognition from quitting at the height of your popularity would have been helpful in giving his solo career a foot up.

He'll probably do well, anyway.

Yea its true. Noel quit the band cause of some insult from Liam about his daughter. It was meant as a joke but i guess Noel took it to heart...:(.

@Brett - You may like this news(I don't know if you like the Beatles).

I gotta tell you...... I am a HUGE Paul McCartney fan. Ever since discovering the Beatles as a kid, I just fell in love with his music. So when news stories hit involving my favorite human being ever(Paul) & my favorite member of Oasis(Noel), I pay attention:

Paul McCartney tells Oasis to get back together, Noel Gallagher says 'write our comeback single and it's on'

"Two weeks ago the former Beatle had said the Gallagher brothers should “just get together and make some good music,” in a Q&A session with Japanese fans.

He had been asked whether the siblings would ever reconcile their differences, to which he replied “I don’t know,” but added that “it would be good because I think everyone likes brothers to like each other – and make up. It’s a pity because they are very good together”.
....

Noel Gallagher has previously spoken of his love of McCartney, calling him an "amazing dude" and a "proper geezer," and responded to McCartney’s comments, saying: “Tell him if he writes our comeback single, it’s on,” in an interview with Yahoo! Music.

----------------------------------------------------------------

To be honest, I didn't really care when Oasis broke up. By the time their last album was out("Dig Out Your Soul"), their new music didn't appeal to me at all. I've always liked Blur, and while I'm always happy to hear their new music, with the Oasis, it had pretty much become a obligation to buy their new albums.

Back to Paul McCartney though, my favorite songwriter in the history of music. Success of the Oasis was heavily based on their familiar style & melody that reminded us of the Beatles at times. Sure, Paul's songwriting hasn't been great in recent years either. Last time I was Paulmania was back in the 90's. Still, if he did write a song or two, or the whole album for Oasis reunion, this time, it'll not be an album purchase out of obligation(I'm kidding about Paul writing songs, or the whole album). It may seem like a long shot now, but I hope he does say:
