Hoooooooooooly crap on a cracker.

So, I just rode a thought train that had me looking at GM's TH-425 automatic used in the Oldsmobile Toronado and early front-drive Cadillac Eldorados. They were equipped with a chain from the torque converter to the first planetary set (transmission on the side of the longitudinally-mounted engine), and that chain, while perfectly fine for normal driving duties, suffered when additional power was sought--the infamous Hurst Hairy Olds shredded plenty of them.

Fairly beefy, but should you need something more substantial...

I know someone who would've loved that sucker for his blown Mirage.

Holy crap on a cracker, indeed.
I actually thought you said "Oldsmobile Aurora and Cadillac Eldorado", as in the 90's cars instead of the older FWD cars...so this surprised me!

You're welcome. :P

It's worth noting that the majority of the HHO's shredded drive chains were on the rear transaxle, as the front never really hooked up. I've heard that the front motor actually over-revved on more than one occasion and that the chain would actually get "thrown," resulting in damage to it and the motor.

This one even has *lights, Two seats, And a side mirror.

*The one above also has lights that I didn't notice at first sight.
The one I posted even has a small windshield and a wiper. That one reminds me of Sean's Monte Carlo in Tokyo Drift.

When Tokyo Drift came out in 2006, a car like Sean's Monte Carlo did look a bit...odd. I bet a lot of people thought it looked like a junker or a beater, you know, nothing too special. But then but look at what Hot Rod's internet show Roadkill did to a Monte Carlo. Look up rat rod muscle cars and when the trend really started.

Here's a pic to compare.

Sean's car. Note the primer hood, the tan paint, the black Nascar inspired wheels, mismatched colors. It's ahead of it's time.

And look! This 71 Charger's pretty damn similar. Nascar style wheels, primer, custom scoop...total rat rod. Probably was done maybe in 2013 or so.

That tells me if I was posting a pic of Sean's Monte Carlo in this thread, and if it was 2006 when I posted it, you all probably would have said it was odd because most people were all about the chrome, the American Racing Torq-Thrust wheels, the metallic paint back in '06..am I right?
