Race recap from race 1 at
mazdaracewaylagunasecanop.jpg

The Poll goes to the King of Laguna Seca, JT #28
mazdaracewaylagunaseca1q.jpg

Lap 1
Mike #33 wasting no time at taking down the braking markers for turn 1
mazdaracewaylagunaseca2f.jpg

Some intense battles early on with Mike #33 fighting to take the 5th place position away from Skeletor #6
mazdaracewaylagunaseca3.jpg

JT #28 leading the race with BK #31 hot on his bumper. In the background the pack is working their way down the corkscrew.
mazdaracewaylagunaseca4l.jpg

Skeletor #6 dropping the tires into the dirt getting all kinds of loose. Dropping from the 5th position back to 8th.
mazdaracewaylagunaseca5.jpg

Lap 2
BK #31 attempting the outside pass on JT #28. Not able to make it stick.
mazdaracewaylagunaseca6.jpg

Me #17 miss judging the draft on cold tires. End up rear ending BK #31 at the top of the corkscrew. BK dropped from 2nd to 3rd. I dropped from 3rd to 5th. RR gained 2 positions jumping from 4th to 2nd and Mike was able to move from 5th into 4th position.

Lap 6
Envy #46 and Skeletor #6 taking advantage from a mishap from ableaction #30 to gain positions.

JT #28 leading the pack up Rahal Straight.

RoadRash #63 taking the race lead exiting the pits

3 turns later, JT taking advantage of the warmer tires and reclaims the lead.
mazdaracewaylagunaseca1b.jpg

Lap 12
A little bumping between RoadRash and BK heading into the Andretti Hairpin. The inside lane was open for BK and RR shut it quickly.
mazdaracewaylagunaseca1g.jpg

LAG BOMB!!!
mazdaracewaylagunaseca1f.jpg

BK was hard on the brakes early and the draft still pulled him in. It appears he tried to avoid RR but there was little he could do at that point. Both BK and RR ended up dropping postitions.
mazdaracewaylagunaseca1i.jpg

Mike and myself jumping at the opportunity to claim the positions.
mazdaracewaylagunaseca1.jpg

Lap 13
Mike bitten by the kink leading up Rahal Straight

There wasn't as much action in race 2. The pack basically ran single file for a majority of the race. There were some good clean battles taking place once the pack split up a bit. So with that said, Heat 2 will be mainly pictures with just a little bit of a recap.

Some close racing taking place between Mike, Envy and Skeletor
mazdaracewaylagunaseca8.jpg

Me trying my best to give JT a mirror full. I never bumped him that race. Happy dance!
mazdaracewaylagunaseca9.jpg

JT and RR heading into the pits. I decided to stay out to avoid any pit bugs.
mazdaracewaylagunaseca1.jpg

BK lighting up the rear tires and spinning coming out of turn 11. He was battling JT for 1st place. Ended up dropping back to 8th.
mazdaracewaylagunaseca1.jpg

Envy and Skeletor having a nice tight battle! Envy, that color looks much better 👍
mazdaracewaylagunaseca1u.jpg

Not much action. So i decided to try some different camera angles.
mazdaracewaylagunaseca1o.jpg

JT nearly fell victim at the kink.
mazdaracewaylagunaseca1.jpg

Me attempting the pass on JT at the Andretti Hairpin. Thought i had him. But JT was able to hold the position.
mazdaracewaylagunaseca1f.jpg

Final lap. Me trying to apply some pressure.
mazdaracewaylagunaseca1n.jpg

JT missing the braking point at the final turn. Runs wide and into the dirt giving me the race lead and the win. I hated to see it happen. But i wasn't complaining.

Side note. JT had won the past 3 races at Laguna Seca. He should have won the 4th as well. Think it is fair to say that he owns that track.

Enjoyed the races guys. Hate i missed the after party. But i was exhausted due to work. Catch you guys on the track!

I watched the replay of race two and was really impressed with Red's car control while applying pressure to JT. Especially his approach to the cork screw. Anyone that saved the replay should watch the last few laps. There is a lot to be learned from his technique. Great racing guys!

Thanks red, I'm honored. You were hot on my tail and my rear view mirror driving is probably the cause of my late brake. I still really don't know what happened. It kind of just happened. You know, like when you run a red light.

Wow, thanks man. But i'm no better than you guys. This is great group here. Not only is it fun joking around with everyone, but the racing is top notch. GT5 is a good game. But it's groups like this that make it even better. Glad i joined this group.

That's the truth. I could tell what, and when that what was happening as he put the pressure on. I raced as realistically as I could during my battle with red out of respect for his sportsmanship.

I'm watching the rebroadcast of the petite Le Mans. That would be a great track for GT5. Of course I won't hold my breath.

I have raced Road Atlanta in Forza. Fun track

Since my tune is pretty good for Madrid I decided I would spend my afternoon running laps in the Miata TC with all aids off and cabin view. I'm just a couple seconds off the camaro times at Laguna and I only have 300bhp. We should build a series off of this. I'm having a blast.

I believe there is something in the works......stay tuned

Yes, pretty much set. Just some testing that needs to be completed. We will be running ABS however.

If you need any testing participants, let me know!

I understand why you're planning to use abs. Maybe we can run a parallel series on same tracks without abs on a different day.

You're more than welcomed to help out. Not much to test as i have the tracks set. Just need to determine HP and race distance per track. Thinking of keeping it at the base HP which i believe is 200 HP.

I'm aiming for a series geared more towards fun. Reverse grid for 2nd heat and playing around with possible weather on one of the tracks.

A side series without ABS will be fine if enough guys are interested in giving it a shot.

Just tell me when and I'm there.

Maybe race on Wednesday and non abs on Thursday, same track?

That works for me. Lets see if others are interested as well. We're still a series away from this one kicking off. So i'm assuming early next year.

Anyone practicing tonight?
