MUSLIMS WHO WANT TO LIVE UNDER ISLAMIC SHARIA LAW WERE TOLD TO GET OUT OF AUSTRALIA
Date: Tuesday, 18 July 2006, 12:25 a.m.

The Australians got this right !!

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia and her Queen at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his Ministers made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown.

Treasurer Peter Costello, seen as heir apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state, and its laws were made by parliament. "If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Sharia law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you," he said on national television..

"I'd be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia: one the Australian law and another, the Islamic law, that is false. If you can't agree with parliamentary law independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Sharia law and have the opportunity to go to another country, which practices it, perhaps, then, that's a better option", Costello said.

Asked whether he meant radical clerics would be forced to leave, he said those with dual citizenship could possibly be asked to move to the other country. Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told reporters that Muslims who did not want to accept local values should "clear off. Basically, people who don't want to be Australians, and who don't want to live by Australian values and understand them, well then, they can basically clear off", he said.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslimson Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques.

Quote: "IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It.?

?I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians. However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the ' politically correct' crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Australia."

"However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand." "This idea of Australia being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Australians, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle."

"This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom. We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!"

"Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture."

"We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us."

"If the Southern Cross offends you, or you don't like " A Fair Go", then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. By all means, keep your culture, but do not force it on others.

"This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFE STYLE. We will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,' THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'." "If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted."

Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves, American citizens will find the backbone to start speaking and voting the same truths!!

Someday I'm going to visit Ausie-land. The only thing not going it's way is gun laws lol.

I know. How dare we think it's unsafe for every single person on the street to carry around a 9mm, or have a couple of rifles in the back of the 'truck'.

But feel free to bring your knives down. You can exchange them now for 'a showbag containing a football, basketball and film tickets.' 👍

Back on topic. I completely agree with the governments direction on this. 95% of Australians will.

What's wrong with it? Over here, it's considered as a form of arbitration - if both parties agree to see an arbitrator (in this case, cleric) over the courts to settle a dispute, then whatever the result is would be legally binding... They're not trying to force the Australian government to change their laws, they're just trying to have something settled out of court through an arbitrator.

Oh sure, the lowered crime rates are real ball breakers aren't they.

And that's the way it should be.

Bush, take notice.

We do, in the small unheard of cases. But every time we want to, someone says, "We're being unfair."

I applaud Australia. That is your land, you run the the way you want to ****ing run it. America needs to learn this for a change and tell those who say "We're being unfair" to screw off.

Who made the "So accept the country YOU accepted" speech? Was it the Peter Costello?

Really gutsy move. I agree with them. 👍

The problem is that we already insist on having things our way......in other countries.

Gosh, that's so awful!

Although, admittedly, a lot of the blame for the crime in this country can be attributed to the incredible, prevailing stupidity that festers in the general populus. It just doesn't help that they can have whatever guns they want, and as many as they want.

Unforunately, that's true (thinks of Mencia's 2026 skit where Bush is president of Iraq), and I don't agree with that.

There is alot of history between us Kiwi's and them Kangaroo's! (You Aussies know what I'm talking bout) I never say things like this about them guys across the ditch, but good on you Australians! Good on you for standing up for your're country! Takes alot of guts to say stuff like that and for that reason, I admire you guys! Represent!

These are the reasons our crappy liberal government continues to get voted in (I do agree with them on this point).

Yeah now only the criminals have guns. We have plenty of crime, including firearm related.

(BTW I am for firearm restrictions but I don't entirely agree how the government went about it)

Ah but wouldn't that mean if we had easy access to guns, more people would be prone to shooting others?

Who said anything about easy access to guns? I don't want easy access.

Too bad that if I wanted to live in Australia (or continue living in the United States, for that matter) the "Christian values" that are claimed to be the "foundation" by whoever wrote this would make me just as much an outsider as a radical Muslim. Please do explain how one set of religion-based governmental principles is better than another set?

I was wondering that myself. Given the recent Australian deference for the Aboriginals, I can hardly imagine an elected official going on so strongly about how Christian Australia is at the core of its heritage.

Actually, I dont' think it's that big a deal. It depends on the people, not so much the "religion" If people are practicing Christianity, true Christianity, then a government based on christian principles will be fair to everyone, not just christians. It's the people of the country that would make you feel like an outsider, not the government.

Like he said, "Most Australians believe in God. Now, what he's saying is that if God offends you then split. But you, being an atheist, shouldn't be offended by any "god" so there shouldn't be a problem correct?

why must i learn spanish to pay my credit card bill over the phone...or if i want some milk at the market. this is america, learn english.

This is America, so learn English? Why aren't we learning Native American languages? This is America after all. And before we Americans start enforcing English as our only language, how about we start learning to speak it correctly? I hear too many could of's and should of's for us to be taken seriously with this whole English thing.

At school, there was a Japanese girl talking to her mom on her cell phone. Someone, in the most rude manner, yells out, "Speak English!" He then walks away thinking he has just done something patriotic.

SHE IS TALKING TO HER MOM. If I travel to Japan and wish to call my mom and speak English with her, I hope no one yells at me to speak Japanese.

My apologies for being slightly off-topic but that statement really set me off. If anything, this thread is about cultural acceptance and that's what my rant was about.
