I bought the Jaguar XJR-9 LM Race Car '88 today ( a car I've loved since it first appeared in GT4 I think). Bit of nostalgia.

I'd forgotten what a great car it is (but was reminded on an Arcade race around SSRX where the top 4 were all "old" cars and I struggled to catch them in a Mercedes VGT).

Fast, stable, brakes fantastically and I aced the Arcade race (where you can't reduce weight or add power). Second was the Nissan R92CP 1992, third the Mazda 787B 1991, fourth the Sauber C9 1989, fifth another Jag, all within a couple of seconds. 6th was a VGT, think it was the Alpine..... 11 seconds behind.

I do recall that fast as the Jag was / is, the Toyota Minolta 88C-V Race Car pipped it every time (as does the R92CP usually) But that hasn't made it here. Nor has my all-time favourite drive, the Bentley Speed 8.

If you're not sure whether to splash out a million credits or a bit of cash for these older motors, I'd encourage you to buy at least one. They're fantastic.

I did race it in the professional Gr.1 and only came 3rd behind the Bugatti VGT and the Alpine VGT at Lago Maggiore (my best equal to date) but only by 0.8 seconds, a great race, and it was my first drive of the car for many years. It will win, handily!!

The Escudo, Chap 2J and Gillet Vertigo have a similar feel to that race car, although their top speed is lower than it.

Great machine, and also looks fantastic, maybe even more important heheh.

Of course... "Go Faster Looks"!! Forgot about those!

Oh yes, remember them too!. The 2J was if I recall correctly virtually unbeatable by anything. The Vertigo looked nice but I didn't enjoy driving it as much as the others, not sure why. The Escudo - wasn't that the one to use to guarantee a win at Pike's Peak??

Hehe, the Suzuki Escudo Pike's Peak! I think I was able to tune that baby up to 2000HP in GT3 and get speeds up to 400MPH! I could guarantee a win anywhere with it, as long as it had walls to keep me on track somewhat!

Yep, they're all light and powerful. The Escudo was used in the Pikes Peak event. However, the one in the game has a very peaky powerband and awful boost threshold which makes the car very lethargic during low RPMs, owing that due to it's small turbocharged engine. You can see that by looking at the graph which shows how much output it produces in various ranges.

Lol only 400mph? I reached 2,147,483,647 mph with escudo.(Without any kind of hack or mod.)

So I splashed out on the R92CP 1992 (Gr.1) today, goodbye one million, but don't regret it. Managed to get gold at Maggiore Gr.1 with a win by 3 seconds.... that was hard! Could only get silver in the Jag.... Tomahawk is fast!
Did a couple of time trials at the big oval, results attached. Odd thing is I paid to upgrade power (didn't check how much) and went to level 3, but it didn't actually change... weird! The Nissan is a brute..... but I still prefer the Bentley Speed 8 and long for its return (bought project cars 2 today to get it! So far not impressed!!)
