Hello again fellow drivers I would like to talk about the On-line Track Conditions. I’ve done the research and I did not find any thing on this topic. SO here we go, if any one has been on the tracks in every room should know the on-line tracks pretty well, right? Let me get to the point I believe that PD have been sinking in some of the new track features that will be in the final version of GT5. Now we’ve all been on the track or gone of line and when we come back on track or line and get back in the throttle do you notice some thing? I’ve talked it over with a few people I run with, a few of them have notice the change. Now not every one will notice this change mainly the people whom are using sticks or not over driving the car like pushing deep. If you use the wheel to drive and you’ve been playing GT for some time. Then you’ll notice that when you go of track and come back on your tires are dirty as well when you on a track with a number of cars and you go of line you pick up rubber on your tires. I'm pretty sure I got an idea of what tracks have the change. Lets see whom else noticed the change if any.

I think you could be right about this, the two corners after you go on grass are always a bit tricky.

I have a suspicion there may also be a 1st lap 'warming' period for tires, I notice I can go through T2 at Daytona Road a bit quicker on the 2nd as compared to the sliding that can occur on the 1st lap.

Then again, it could just be my imagination.

Yep, I think you're right. When you go off you have serious grip problems in the next couple of corners.

This has been well covered on these forums, and yes, you do get dirty tyres after running off the track.

This has always been there. Also there is more grip when you stay on the driving line( the part of the track where there are black tyre marks)

Yes the grip as always been there when your on the driving line but when you went of line you was still able to get grip. As of now I believe that is not true. When you go off line now you really push and when you go off track this is the first time i've noticed that you'll have trouble gaining grip back. I've been at this game for the jump number 1 Gran Turismo so when there a change i'll notice it and make sure I'm not the only one who may see it or latter.

Yeah I have noticed that your grip is reduced after you go off the track also.

I've kind of noticed this, too, but never put it to the test or anything. However, I really hope PD adds visible dirt to the tires, because it's a pain not knowing when you can push to the limit again because your tires always look clean.

What’s going drivers? Here again to talk about On-line track conditions. But there’s a twist. As I spoke of before about going of line and coming back on track now I’ve noticed something else that I believe is being tested. Tire temp and wear, yes I said. I got the notion that Prolog is using us as Ginny pigs. And if that’s true which in turns means they may be near or half way to final test. I would like the help with this from the whole GT Family on this. Build your own test parameters or we can come together building a more refined test bed. We all know that Prolog takes GT to heart just as we do. We’ve all seen the post and videos on the testing and other steps their taking to give the GT family the best Driving Simulator for the home. We want the best and they’ll give us the best. 💡

I find that the tyres warm up on the first lap. An example of this would be the 'vette tuned going into the first corner of suzuka. I feel I have to be really tentative and not try anything for at least half a lap.

I don't find this happnes on TTs though.

I noticed this effect aswell, but i allways thought it was just my impatient driving through the first few corners after a ride through the grass. I thought going trough the grass would make me lose concentration and therefore lead to troubles in the next few corners.

Alright people here are my first test reports on my throe on the On-line conditions. Note all test will be done with two main factors in place. ABS and Traction Control will be set to 1 allowing every one whom asks for the setup to test them self out with going over the cars limit. The cars used for these test are the BMW Concept 1 Series ti ’07 and the Ferrari F2007 ran on Suzuka Circuit. My first test was with the BMW Concept Series 1 running in the Expert 550 event. I used S3 tires front and read with no change to PP. On my first race attempt with a nice setup my average time was 2:26’s area after the tires warmed. The tires took two laps to reach operating temp, burning those laps I noticed that the BMW would over load in turn in. Pushing the noise just a little but once the tires came in it really started to move. Entering all turns was great I was able to push the BMW hard with little over or under steer if any at all. Exiting turns in the BMW was outstanding with no under or over steer. On my second race event I changed the gearing and shocks setting and that’s when the BMW really showed. Tires came to life at the end of lap one. From lap two to four is was able to run 2:24’s while reaching 2:23’s on lap five. During the race from lap two on the tires never let up giving me the ability to run those times.

Now for the Ferrari F2007 tires of chose for the run R2 front and rear even though there is not an F-1 online event any more I was still able to free run Suzuka Expert 650 with same track conditions. This run took a little longer to do running 50 laps in total. While running at steady pace for about 5 or 6 laps seeing what actions may happen? Lap after lap the tires got warmer. Buy lap 10 things started to get really fun. Times started to drop like flies a second there a tenth here and time 1:33’s. For the next fifteen laps I ran in the 1:33’s but once I got to lap thirty the tires start to really show the wear. My times got slower and slower. Losing almost three and half seconds at lap 48, pushed on laps 49 and that was it, no more the tires had it. Before my second run I retuned the set and done another 50 laps. Doing the same warm the tires started to come to life around lap 10 allowing me to gain a tenth on that lap. Time dropped again up to lap 35 1:32:155 was the time she wrote. From there on times stayed around 1:32:155 to 1:32:896 pushing hard into every turn. Once the tire started to go off under breaking the rear would get light going into turn 9a and 9B. While going into turn 10 the rear would want to step out. Changing brake bias didn’t make any change in this; the rear still got light and wanted to step out after lap 35. Even a damper change made it worse as well adding a lot of under and over steer. Ok those are my thought and findings, hope you enjoyed. If there’s a car that you would like a test result on drop me a letter.

I'm a bit sceptical about there being tyre wear in online events, but I haven't done any extensive testing over multiple laps. Also I'm quite sure there aren't any "marbles" off of the racing line either, unfortunately. It would be a great feature though. I don't know why PD would test these features only in online events.

As for the tyre temperature and dirt, to me it feels like the tyres, in just about every car, get up to temperature by the end of the Suzuka's esses. After running off onto the grass, I think it takes a little less time to get the tyres back to their optimum performance, but obviously it's much harder to due to the dirt on the tyres.

Alright drivers here are my thoughts of my second installment. My car of chose tonight was the Amuse/Opera 350Z with R1 tires. I must say that the A/O 350Z is one of best balanced and most stable cars in GT5 on warm R1 tires. Once the tires warmed up it moved around the track like it was on rail. No matter what I throw at the car it never over cooked the tires. After a few rounds on the track I went for a race, oh and did I get one. I must say it was one of the BEST runs I’ve had in a long time. Yes we all know it’s hard to find a good race now do to some or I say a lot of GT drivers are pushing the limits of them self’s and their cars. I’m talking about the drivers that only use N1 or sports tires on the cars. Smoking the tires in every turn and such, yes we know you can drive fast in a high HP car on N1 and sports tires. Now who not to say that the PP system will remain in GT5? And if it doesn’t, I feel for those guys once the FINAL version of GT5 comes out. Back to the race the driver I was up against was driving a white BMW M3 and his name was Cereal Killer a GTP member. From the start to end it was a thinking driver’s race. Neither of us have an advantage any where on the expect coming out of turn 15 going into the S’s. While we jockey for positions on the track there were a number of times we’re door to door in the turns. Pushing each other to the limit, tail happy here and there it was bloody fantastic. At one point in the dual we each got a jump, my turn was coming out of dragons back as I call it. On lap 7 going into turns 3 through 8 and coming over the hill going into turn 9A I got a better drive through the back. Coming up over the hill he got a little push and went long in the turn. He got me right back on me going in 9A through B as I pushed long going over the rumbles. Going through B we are door to door. I play you not it can be done but it’s very tight for cars of that size. He got the better drive out going up to turn 10 and 11. He got into 11 a little hot but recovered nicely. Though I got a nice drive out of 11 he still had a noise on me. Up the hill into 12 the BMW pulled up, that car has an outstanding mid range torque curve so does the A/O Zed. Out of turn 14 down the straight I got a good draft going to 15. Both of us brake hard but I got the better entry. For the next two laps it was the same, and then come the last run. Who would make the first jump any where on the track? I made my first move coming over the back as to he had the lead going in. I got in 9A/B good going to 10 and 11. I got into 11 much too hot pushing through the turn allowing him room. From there got into 12 he pulled and some how I got a great pull from him drafting on that short of an area. Out of 14 down the straight, that long straight. The Zed got a great jump down the hill, up hill it pulled hard. I thought I got a well enough of a jump that he wouldn’t be able to draft buy me and I did. But he passed me going into 15; he must have been watching my braking points. So he had an ideal of the point I would brake and he guessed right. I tried to get buy him going on the S’s but he out braked me this time. He knew if he didn’t I was buy him as I done every lap before. And that’s all she wrote he pulled and I gained but not enough to get buy.

Last word… There have only been few drivers that pushed me that hard it GT. That’s a true Driver to the form. If I ever meet this person on the real track I know it will be a nice dual as well. There are only a few REAL drivers in the GT world. Yea Bleep you and this and that. Just hold a sec and think about all the Prolog GT releases. Yes they thought us the aspects of driving, mind of road and rally racing. A number of true road racers use it to sharpen their skills. Almost every race team buildet the own race Sims based on what Prolog has done. But they took it to the next step buy adding hydraulic movement. But there’s still one area missing and we all know this to well. The real thing, If a number of GT drivers take what they learned here and take it to the track they won’t be fast enough to get around safely. I’ve done karting, off road and road racing, I’m not the best driver in the world but I’m bloody good. I must say that there will only be a few of you that will be able to perform on the real track against any well rounded driver. You can say all what you want but it’s this truth. There was only one driver from Europe that got the chance to drive semi pro. Who’s to say that he will go pro? He got a change and it’s a chance. Sony and Prolog and other put a lot of money backing that team. If any of the drivers don’t perform their gone no question asked. Now if they decide to do the same comp here in the states the boiler will be a lot hotter. If you really won’t a change get on the track and try what you’ve learned and see if you’re really good as your time say.

Zuel that race was a pleasure. NTSC is so quiet these days especially at that time a day, to run into someone so closely matched and get almost all 10 laps neck and neck was just awesome. I'm very rusty and not nearly as fast as some guys on this forum but that was great practice, like you say there was a lot of thinking to do, and taking all those corners side by side was great practice. You do not blink. :) Cheers!

Dude, you might be "bloody good", but whats with the "running everyone else down" attitude? And it doesn't matter which side of the pond you come from, thats the dumbest arguement I ever heard.

God afternoon GT Driver’s hope you all had a great weekend of racing. I really enjoyed my weekend of racing. Ok here is my report on the Aston Martin DB9 Coupe 06 a heavy car to be could a real sport coupe in my eyes. Though with strong line and curves it’s a sexy machine as well a big beast. On sport tires the DB9 is a very capable car with good turn in and well balanced exits out of turns. The one area that really hurts the DB9 is the weight transfer during braking. Unlike the current DB9 the 06 is no where close to be a true 50/50 weight transfer. Why? I have no idea why. A/M had the know how to make a 50/50 car in weight racing but why did they wait so long to bring it to the production cars. Any how the 06 DB9 is a great car until you push it hard under braking and hard cornering. It loved to heat the tires fast way to fast for my liking. I done a number of things to change the way the girl heats up the tires but she still moves her feet a little to much. So I went to race tires to see what she’ll do, she got little better not buy much though. Under heavy load the DB9 responded better but still has the notion to push through the turn under heavy braking. Exiting turns is another world in all, exiting is very close to a corvette. Once you start gaining speed that when you’ll see the weight of the DB9 come into play. It’s like a snail compared to other Sport Coupes in class and year. I really didn’t enjoy my test in the A/M DB9 Coupe but it’s a capable car in all.

Final Word….. On the comment that I got from No_46 The Doctor. I’m not here to run down any one or their skills. We’re all good drivers some better than others it’s just a fact of life. The aspect I tried to point out but maybe didn’t get across is the PP tuning. We all know of the Turners Pit Crew. Those gays and gals got the PP tuning of GT down to an art. Getting the cars around the track on Sport tires at times of race tires is bloody great breaking real world track recorders in production cars on the VR track. That’s all fine and good but that’s to say they’ll be that fast once the final version GT5 comes out. Look at it like this. If the PP system stays intact then the ones that have mastered the PP aspect of GT they’ll still are fast though if it’s not then what? Now on using this as a tool and a fine tool at that, taking everything that we’ve learned from GT in the years and taking it to the real track. It will give some of us a jump on other green horns that have been to the track for the first time. I and others like Kart Racer, Big Moose and the crew started at a young age. I got my start in Europe when my father was stationed there. I learned everything the hard way. Hours on hours at the track getting better and better as well for them. My point is take what you learned here and put it to work on the bloody track. One GT driver just went semi-pro who’s to say another wont. I’m still pushing to back to in the Speed World Challenge. I would love to buy a Nissan GTR and run it in either the Speed World Challenge or the American Le-Mas. But they sell any where from 150.000 to 250.00 way to much over sticker. Why because it’s the first GTR sold in the states and that’s BS. Nissan should put something about it but they won’t.

Evening Morning what time zone you’re in Hello. Tonight I wanted to try some different, so I decided to get in a A/O 350 Zed race that’s held almost every night on Suzuka Circuit 650 expert. I really want to test the A/O under race conditions to really see how it performs on R1 tires while be really pushed. I see it like this when I’m doing my test I can push and push but then get in a grove. Just as when I test a car on the track looking for that right balance. Wishing it was a perfect balance but that will never happen. Now when you’re in a race with other drivers as fast as or faster than you got to really push your self, once that happens you get into another mind frame. We all know of tunnel vision right. This is another type of tunnel vision everything get really wind and you only see what on the track. For those pf you who have raced on a track or rallied know what I’m speaking of. So I’m looking to do my test in that fashion hoping to get wide eyed.

What does your last few posts have to do with the topic?

If you are now just going to post tests of random cars, then change the thread title to reflect that.
