Greetings people!

A dozen of you may remember me for some of my performances in top split time trials on Gran Turismo 7. A thing I have not shared is that, when COVID-19 was still on top of the news list and the world was in a bit of a shock, I had the chance to be an author in a newly-formed motorsport site here in Greece, helping a lad that's now an upcoming sports journalist in the making of articles.

To make the long story short, I was a contributor on that site for nearly 2 years and the section I was most dedicated on was the retro section, making daily posts about the most important anniversaries and milestones from motorsport's past – Formula 1 was the main focus but I also included facts from various other series like NASCAR, WRC etc.

Since I love reading about such stuff and sharing with people that are similarly enthusiastic, I thought that it may be good idea to make a daily post here, just for the joy of it.

In case there's trouble with double, triple [...] and consecutive posting by the mods, you can informe me and I'll scrap the idea, no issues at all 😊

Here's a sample inside the spoiler below, to check the format of the posts that might stick for a while in case I start making the content I explained above.

On this day, February 28th ⤵️

1️⃣9️⃣9️⃣3️⃣ The inaugural Australian V8 Supercar race took place at Sydney's now-defunct Amaroo Park. The first round that set tin-top racing on a new path in the new-look ATCC featured three races – a heat for the 2L class, a heat for the 5L class and a combined final, which was won by the DJR Ford Falcon of John Bowe.

1️⃣9️⃣9️⃣9️⃣ Colin McRae won the Safari Rally alongside Nicky Grist – his first WRC victory for anyone other than the Subaru brand and Ford’s first Kenyan success since 1977. McRae and Grist won the African marathon in the brand-new, Martini-liveried M-Sport Focus by nearly 15 minutes from Didier Auriol's factory Toyota Corolla.

⏩️ Honourable mentions:

🇺🇸 Ford’s first World Sportscar Championship race win came in the 1965 Daytona 2000kms. The GT40 of Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby took victory for the Shelby American team as similar entries claimed five of the first six finishing spots. The race would be lengthened to its current 24-hour duration in 1966.

🇺🇸 The 2012 Daytona 500 was postponed from Sunday afternoon to Monday night due to rain and finished after midnight on Tuesday, resulting in the first primetime start of the event. On Lap 160, Juan Pablo Montoya crashed into a jet dryer at Turn 3, sparking a lengthy red flag as crews put out the resulting fire and repaired the damage. The race finally ended 37 hours after the originally scheduled start, with Matt Kenseth becoming the first repeat winner since Jeff Gordon in 2005.
