Post your Hotlap here!

-= How to make videos =-
-= Convert program =-

1. Use Online Free Run.
2. Use In-Car View when recording, as then it`ll be much more interesting to watch.

But you may post the lap as it is.. 👍

I can provide you guys with some top ten runs in pro physics. Would that be of interest? BTW I love hot lapping too, it is so much fun to push the car past it limits.

(if I may ask, could Sphinx post the Swift-lap, if you still have it? ..thanks!)

The 2'27.789 500pp Swift?

If so,
I can't do a video of this run just yet, but anyone can download it and view it on their PS3 for now:

  • Download file
  • Unzip the file to your desktop
  • place the 'PS3' folder on a USB stick
  • put USB stick into your PS3
  • open 'Saved Data Utility'
  • Locate 'USB Device' and open
  • Locate replay, press Triangle button and select copy
  • View replay in GT5P

You know I was thinking, if you had some program that supported the saved movie couldn't you convert it into something that everyone can view..so this way you don't have to tape your tv screen or pass it through your computer in order view it.

So I played around with a converter..it is possible to do it, but the .dat file is in Japanese. I will keep messing around with it and let you know my results.

It is possible because thats how its works on the PS3, it uses the information in the DAT file to build the replay. There has got to be away. I dunno I have been researching for hours and haven't come up with anything. It must be that you need the game and the PS3 to build the replay and the Dat file just provides direction. So the next best thing is to just pass it through your computer and have windows encoder record it live via streaming.

Well, I guess I will figure out the best way to pass it through my comp. Thanks

Here´s mine. I try to get it embedded this weekend...

I suspect the dat file is input telemetry. You'd need to run it through the game engine to get images. Imagine you had a list of instructions for a supermodel to pose - smile ... wave ... hands on your hips ... pout suggestively ...

How is your pc going to turn that into jpegs without Naomi Campbell and a camera set up? Same idea here - you have throttle 75% ... steer left 5% ... brake ... 90% .... Then it gets fed into the game engine and it translates this to car movements.

The program that supports it is called GT5 Prologue and is available for the PS3.

Lets just say you got a PC program to understand the car movements from the .dat file. You would probably end up watching a block going round a line. Where would it get the graphics for the cars and tracks from?

So your PC program is going to need the Prologue disc to extract the textures from. And then Sony will sue you for misusing their intellectual property.

I really need to update my "how to make videos" page...

 Thank you very much! You just saved me a lot of trouble.. 👍

EDIT: Does that cable have a certain name? Tried to google it, but my english isn´t good enough, I guess.

It's a PS2 to scart cable with an a/v block, or RGB block. PS2 cables work fine with the PS3. The only drawback is that the PS3 has to use it's lowest 576i (standard PAL) setting.

Nice driving.👍 I thought there could have been a couple spots on Fuji you could go slightly faster, but maybe that's just with the Viper the lines I'm thinking of.:)
