Online Tire wear / Grip - how does it work?

Hello, Guys!

- The other day, I was in the open lobby, and did a 14-lap race at monza with a gt500 car (calsonic gt-r 08). My soft tires lasted for 8 laps, and I could post similar times during 6 of those laps. I pitted on lap 9, put on a new set of softs, and finished the race 30 sec ahead of the pac. Great tire wear.

- This weekend: testing at Nurburgring GP/F (same car). Awful lap times, poor tire wear. It didn't matter what I changed on my tuns, the tires wouldn't last more than 4 laps and lap times continued the same...

My questions:
1. Is it normal to have such different tire wear between 2 tracks?
2. How to decrease tire wear online?
3. Can your internet connection interfere with your online performance? I mean, can an unstable connection make your car go slower?

The 2 tracks that you has tested are VERY different. Monza is mostly long straights connected with chicanes. This configuration will be much kinder to your tyres than the Nur GP/F track...there you will spend more time turning per lap than Monza.

An extreme way to look at it would be how many laps can you do on Route X on racing soft compaired to Nordscheliefe?

You can decrease tyre wear by using a harder compound, braking earlier into corners (reduce understeer) and be smoother on the throttle out of corners (reduce oversteer / wheel spin) Just be as smooth as possible with your inputs and dont try to over drive the car opr circuit!

No idea on the internet thing!!

Sounds to me like the problem was monza being a race and nurb being practice, i thought tyre wear was also related to how long races are. I find any longer race (eg. 15-20 laps) i get much more life from the tyres than the average short race (eg. 5-10 laps) and practice/qualifying is the most damaging of all. Try a race on your own at nurb for 14 laps again and see if you get more than 4 laps :)

That is a good idea! I'll try that to see how tire wear goes... :-)

-_-

Did you actually read this guys post?
