I think the most obvious way to implement it is simply to have extra dailies etc. with a GT Mode theme. The major problem with online racing is the entitled win at all costs mentality. I would love to disincentivise that somehow.

A campaign is not necessary, keep that offline. Instead I feel they should expand the custom race thing with custom series / championships to mirror club racing practices, I'm bored of all this top-flight hotshot pretence.

Ratings and matchmaking aside, it's extra content for free, both in terms of the price of the game and in terms of the effort on PD's end. They can fix anything that might happen to be broken as well, that'd be nice.

What? This thread started with YOUR statement about GT League being "offline single player stuff." So please explain how my progression through offline single player content depends on the sportsmanship of others.

I guess it depends on what you count as progress. Since many of the achievements are Sport Mode only, you need to be racing online and you are at the mercy of others at that time. That's what I am talking about.

Also, I am not (never) suggesting that playing an online version of the offline content should work towards your single player progress. Only achievements. This is just to expand upon the dailies.

For the first part of your post; I am SR-S rated and I would say that it is at best occasionally respectful, but most isn't. As someone who got demoted to SR-A thanks to a single driver and then to SR-B thanks to several others the is a difference, but its mostly with ability to control the car rather than intent.

I'm not talking about boycotting anything, just that the Sport mode isn't really ready for what your talking about.

GT Sport is online centric, but instead of that being by sole design, it seems more by accident. This is more clear with the announcement of a proper offline career mode. The game's core direction (online) has been diluted, which is a shame.
That said, I'm glad that there is no more rally stages or events, because they where all terrible and totally joyless

I am more tolerant I suppose. Like, I play plenty of sports IRL and the officiating ranges from awful to barely acceptable, so...

I also haven't been demoted without intention.

So, ya, now that we have seen the gt league I feel even more strongly that these races would all be very interesting as online multiplayer as well.

The limits are in place (power, category, tires).

Three daily races just isn't cutting it imho.

Maybe just implement a new lobby setting?
Series mode.
Set 2-10 races with a short qualifying period before each and whatever restrictions over the whole series or individually set restrictions for each race.
Also an option to use 'lesser' cars in any race with a percentage bonus on credits and xp, like in the offline GT league.

That way an alien can be challenged by a newcomer without sacrificing personal gains and has motivation to choose the lesser car with the lure of greater reward.

So, with the imminent release of GT League (the offline single player stuff) I thought I would put this out as a proposal. Who would be interested in online versions of the events?

So, the Sunday Cup for instance. As an offline event, I would play it once, get the prize, then never play it again.

However, if it were online, say at the top of every hour, you would race the series (four races, five races, whatever) with other players. This could all count toward the achievements, just like sport mode. No special rules or BoP. It would be exactly the same with the exception that the competition is other players rather than A.I.

Imagine how much better endurance racing could be!!

I can't imagine this would be that much of a challenge to implement. The Infrastructure for it is already there. Maybe if there is enough interest, it might happen.

Thoughts?

That is what I want too, would be great......

Ok, so now that we have Christmas past us, more people in the game, the GT League is available and we have all settled in to what GTS is really all about, I want to bring this back up.

Who NOW wants a GT League for online as well as offline.

Here's what I would change for the online version.

- More stringent regulations on what can be used (stick to the spirit of the event)
- A timer like the dailies
- More stringent matchmaking!!! There are plenty of people playing this game. There's no reason for more than two degrees of SR to be in the same room. In other words, no SR S in the same room with SR B.
- Make the races into a series so that players get carried through the events in sequence and accumulate points.
- Add bonus XP for winning a championship (as per the point above)
- a "race with friends" button so that players can get together in a party and join an event together (would have to ignore matchmaking). BTW, this is great way to get your friends up to speed and improving DR and SR without (too much) frustration as seen in the dailies.

And, of course, more events for both online and offline play added to every tier in the league.
