oo.. thx for the info T13R.. hmm and just one concern about the head to head thingy.. are we going to race with the 5-sec penalties on? i would hope so, just so someone (or me) don't ram my (or someone's) ass into a wall... LOL

oh yeah, and just wondering.. lol is there any prizes for the second and third place? hahaa
I don't think so.

Anyhow, just wanted to say that I received the "winner's package" as mentioned in the e-mail we all should have received. Basically contains one paper giving the address of where we'll be staying and where the event will be. Also comes with a cheque to pay for transportation and any other extras, and a hotel stub/ticket for the night of the 28th to the 29th. The even itself is at 6:30 PM on the 28th.

...time to look for a way to get there now.

lol.. with a $400 cheque, you can take the plane here and then take an airport limo to downtown =)
Nah, I think I'll take the train and pocket an extra 200$ right there :P

BTW, I'm not too familiar with how that BECK TAXI coupon works. Is this taxi supposed to get me to the hotel when I arrive in Toronto? Or after the comp? Do I have to pay for it, or is it included in the hotel fee (paid by Sony :))? Also is it best to check-in to the hotel before the comp? or after? ... I need to travel more, total newb is me! :dunce:

the beck taxi should get you to where the competition is once you get off the train, and as for the hotel, i guess the later you check in might be better? since you get to check out later too ^^

Just bumping this up :)

My lady friend and I are driving up to Toronto Saturday morning. As far as I can tell from the Hilton's website, any time after noon we're allowed to check in, and we don't have to check out until 12:00 Sunday afternoon. I talked to Noah at Segal and he said the Beck ticket is to get us from the hotel to the contest, and he mentioned that we also might get a trip back too, since there's a party/club thing taking place after the contest? We're also allowed to bump the room up to a double-bed... not that it's needed, but it was nice to know :)

I just want to know if we're using a wheel or the controllers, since apparently there might not be enough space for the former. I'd prefer the wheel, since it's more realistic, even though currently I'm faster at Laguna with the DS2 anyways. Nice to see I'm not the only one who's knocked it down to 15's :). Also, I think it's safe to say we'll be saddled with the same car selection as last time, which is good, and that while we might run on a different track, it'll probably be one without a lot of walls to limit cheating.

I too am hoping they've thought of some way to stop people from ramming others off. If we're going head-to-head, I don't want to have my whole shot blown at turn one because somebody figured they'd use me as a braking device.

lol.. agreed.

i hope we do use the DFP or else im sooooooooo screwed.. bahh.. its chinese new yr the next day, so i dont think i will be staying in the hotel for the night, and mite just drive back home the night after the event ~

but are we qualifying in laguna again? and we are choosing the stock cars from arcade modes again?

I think it's safe to say the car availability will be the same as last time. They definitely wouldn't allow memory cards ;).

Well, id just to say i had a KILLER time at campus cup. Its me Ron, from Western. Got to meet fellow GT4 players, had a couple of drinks, and all around good time.
CONGRATS TO SlipZtrEm FOR WINNING IT! Good stuff man. I STILL dont understand how u pulled of that 1:16!
DAMMIT! I just realised i left that poster Noah gave me at his house! CRAP!

Good times guys. SlipZtream congrats on winning you dirty whore haha. You were the fastest out of all of us, so if anyone deserved it; it would be you. It sucks we had to use the DS2 but whatever, that's the way things go. It was a great time overall, racing for a while and then just sitting around drinking afterwards, and then the select few that went to the clubs. Hopefully i'll see you guys next year.

Totally agree, it was a really fun event, and it was really cool to be able to meet other GT4 nuts out there 👍 It's also cool to be able to put faces to nicknames that you've seen around for some time, like was the case with SlipZtrEm, having raced with him in the past in GT3, and to get to know these people in person.

Congrats Kyle (SlipZtrEm), excellent fast and consistent racing 👍

I'll try to see if I can record a replay of a 1'15 for you with my digicam, although Kyle actually got into the 14's, so maybe that replay would be even better. Now I feel like going back to it for a 1'14... sigh. Man that sucks about the poster, I forgot about it too, could have reminded you to take it. :(

Haha, i just went back gave it a shot with the Motul 350Z. It seems like iam able to get 1:16's no problem now. Iam doing it with both TCS and ASM which seems weird to me. Its weird cuz the line is essentially the same as i was doing before, but shift/brake points are slightly different. So it was the car that was the difference. I was kinda glad every1 chose the same car at the event, so it came down to driver skill. I cant wait for next year!

bah its all good. It was nice to meet you guys and hang out thats for sure.

First off, thanks for all the congrats guys :). It was definitely an experience to meet everyone, and put faces to names, in the case of the couple of us who are around here. I personally loved the atmosphere and setup, and I don't know what Dean was worried about; I can't think of any suggestions to improve it.

I feel really dirty for that hit against you Antihero, but on the other hand, it was an exciting race according to everyone, heh. I suppose it's good GT lags behind the other games out there and doesn't have damage, or nearly all of our races would've ended far differently. That very last race was stressful; I knew I was going to be rear-ended in that final turn, so I hit the brakes especially early to make up for it.

As T13R said, I managed a 1:14, but when I tried to save the replay Friday afternoon, it wouldn't, instead offering to save a much slower 1:15.4xx ghost. I do have the full replay of the 1:14 on my card, but there's two or three laps running up to it. I was really hoping for a final race on the 'Ring or something!

I've got a couple pictures Alicia took, though mostly of the post-contest stuff. I also decided a change in avatar was required :D

We managed to get the cheque home, though it barely fit in the car, and the weather was awful this morning, so that didn't help. I think we may have woke Noah and his friend up when we stopped there this afternoon, heh. Anyways, awesome, awesome time guys, and it definitely was the most fun I've had with the game. I wonder what game will be used for next year's!
