Yes, it might be a mistake having another wishlist thread, but i dont think this topic has ever been discussed yet. What are your opinions of having other open wheel cars appearing in the game? I would love to see Formula Fords/Mazdas/BMWs and F3s. I think the slower the cars, the better the racing. I still remember racing Fords/F3s on Toca 3 :) Good times 👍

F3s in famous Macau GP, great track!
(Senna and Schumi won here!)

I'm green light for these. All the lower Formulas, i'd love to beat you all from F3 to F Ford

The formulas are the only open-wheel cars that I can think of. It would be cool if GT5 had a lot of formula cars to purchase! Cars that any manufactures built. With a couple events for formula cars.

I think it would produce great racing with the lower speeds. F1's are a little too fast for average drivers, let alone DS3 players. Im already dreaming of GTPlanet F3 Championship

Hell ,even throw in some of these, as lame it is to go in circles, it still attracts new crowds

Just like what Jef-f Dun-ham said,
"Nascar is with people drivin' 500 miles, in a circle... THEY'RE MAKIN' A LEFT TURN... THEY'RE MAKIN' ANOTHER LEFT TURN... THEY'RE MAKIN' ANOTHER LEFT TURN... I WONDER WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN NEXT. Let's go to commercials, YOU AIN'T GONNA MISS A THANG!"

LOL. Walter?

@PJ-FFL
I dont know about that one though.. no disrespect to IRL, but i think Open wheels are meant for road racing only. I think stock cars look better on ovals. A1GP and GP2 would be other considerations.

I no try to be mean about open wheel racers with what I posted about what Jeff Dunham said. And I'm sorry if I didn't understand your last post.:guilty:

I would love to have some lower powered open wheelers to play with, especially Formula Fords!

As Masi_23 said, the lower powered the cars, the better the racing - especially when playing Online, I find. The lower powered car classes really put the emphasis on driving smoothly and level the field somewhat - with fewer horses to apply, the gap in best lap times between the frontrunners and the rest of the field tends to be smaller which can make for a better race when you have people of very mixed abilities. Also, the lower top speeds means that braking 0.050 seconds too late down into a hairpin is less likely to end in a pileup - small mistakes are greatly exaggerated the greater the performance of the car and it can be tough enough as it is racing cleanly bumper to bumper Online with latency.

I'd love to see more open wheelers, they are really fun to drive. They're cars which are actually designed to race, not cars which were designed to carry passengers then modified.

@hubbel

Spot on m8! Took the words out of my mouth :) and yes wolf, closer racing and more passing :D

Yes this will defenately bring awesome racing, Formula BMW would be nice, and GT5 could also include some older formula fords like yearly 90s.

Yeah, open wheelers can be really fun when you have a race where everyone has a different tune, it seems to make for closer racing than with regular cars. I had an awesome race the other day in GTR evo using formula 3000s, the guy infront of me had less downforce and drag than me, so every corner was a battle for me to get in front, then he'd overtake on the long straights (at monza). In the end I was running faster times but he managed to win because it was harder for me to overtake in the corners than it was for him to overtake on the straights :P But it was fun none the less.

No, no, no, no and no.

GT is all about road cars, and race cars that are based on road cars. To me there should be no purpose built, single seater, open wheel race cars in GT at all.

I think your image of what GT is all about is outdated unfortunately, its been pretty clear to me over the past few series that Kaz wants to expand the horizon's beyond road cars/road based race cars.

That said, I share you opinion that GT should stick to road cars and race car's based vaguely of road cars; on another note I am happy to accept LMP's even if that makes me a hypocrite. :P

I'm all for open wheelers. I think with those, the AI would be more aggressive (don't ask me how I came to that conclusion - it's late(ish) and I'm tired) and I hope with them the racing would be closer.

I am generally against open wheelers so my opinion for lower class open wheelers is....No (a few F1 cars would be fine)

Ok maybe one, like a Formula Ford.

yes i would love the slower open wheelers in the game, actually i was thinking about that yesterday while i was watching formula renault 3.5

Almost all LMP cars in GT aren't based on road cars.the list:
Toyota GTone TSO20
Sauber Mercedes C9
Minolta Toyota 88C-V
Nissan R89C
Nissan R92CP
Peugeot 905
Audi R8 Race Car
Mazda 787B
Bentley Speed 8 Race Car
Pescarolo Sport C6
Playstation Pescarolo

The list goes on. I can bet my ass that these all will be in GT5. If not, PD is pretty much screwed. You wouldn't want to only play with road cars,JGTC's and a few LM's, would you? I know no one else her would.

I didn't say that those shouldn't be in GT. Open wheelers shouldn't be in GT.

Your list of cars is acceptable as the series they are in was originally based on road cars, but they have just evolved.

Yes, I would. I drive race cars to complete the game. After that, apart from the ones I drive at the UKGTP events, I don't touch race cars.

They aren't open wheel, which is what daan has a problem with.

Erm... GT3 had quite a few open wheelers, I remember. Actually, for the amount of cars in the game, quite a lot. As far as it goes, they're still cars, still racing, and GT is still a driving simulator. And GT4 still had a Formula GT, so I don't think they're going anywhere. If anything, we're gonna see a lot more of 'em.

Let's hope KY/PD/SONY is thinking the same 👍

No No No,But It might be a nice idea for a new game though just think GTR:The worlds greatest racing simulator.💡

So you dont want NASCAR , Rally and Formula 1 cars that are included in GT5 then? Also GT hasnt always been all about road cars. GT4 had Formula 1 cars , Rally cars and real race cars that werent road cars. I would love to see the Formula 3 cars and Formula BMW cars in GT.

WOW! Seems like a good amount of people are against you. Are you sure you know your GT? It's better to know your GT before you join GTplanet.:P

GT4 had 1 (one) F1 lookalike car and 90% of the rallycars are based on a roadcar.
