A new OutRun game would be nice cmooon!
Last entey was OutRun Online Arcade from 2009.
Sumo Digital did the last 2 games for Sega, and given the article reports Sega has Sonic's Producer & the President involved, I could see them tying a video game into the movie's release. Sumo's also worked on some much bigger budget games since OutRun, so I'd have some confidence in them handling a new title.

So Michael Bay is being released from the asylum to direct yet more mayhem. No doubt it will be an hour and a halfs worth of film at best but this is Bay we're talking about here, so let's expect needless slo-mo at any given opportunity, setting fire to everything including water, and probably setting fire to fire and even fresh air if he can. Plenty of racial stereotypes, lots of casual sexism and a cheesy soundtrack. This has shot to the top of my "things I never want to see" list.

I'm old, old enough to remember my dad playing OutRun on his Amstrad CPC in the late 80's. So this movie is going to be a go-pro affixed to the back of a Ferrari while it speeds along the highway with a timer ticking down above it, right? A faithful videogame adaptation for the screen and not something like whatever the hell that Need For Speed/Aaron Paul movie was, right?

I assume Sydney Sweeney is being added as "eye-candy", 'cause she seems to specialize in looking half asleep most of the time and I just checked her filmography - seems to be a "strong" supporting actress with appearances in no blockbuster movies. Probably why I had to look up who she is and can't recall anything she's been in. Oh, she was in Madame Web? I didn't see that on account of reading the reviews for it.

Oh yeah, high hopes for this one! I'll maybe check it out when it's on streaming services in a few years and I have literally nothing else to do.

I can remember the excitement the 12 year old me had when my local arcade installed an outrun machine, the proper one with the hydraulics that moved (they also had Space harrier in a similar cabinet) I can remember playing that game and feeling like I was actually driving a car. And the music was awesome, truly some great memories that will undoubtedly be shat on from a high height by this movie 🫤

I hope I’m wrong, this could be really funny if they do it right and poke the right nostalgic buttons.
