[PC] DCS 1.5 & 2.0 Open Alpha

I was right there with him as I thought "last update" referred to the latest update. I guess removing the pylons would be nice for the aerobatic servers. About to hop on later and enjoy the F-15 again :D

edit: F-15C still feels weird to me. The plane won't necessarily roll like it used to on any maneuver that saw more than 2G, but it still feels terribly untrimmed. Of course, none of my efforts to trim it myself did anything. Idk what's up, maybe it's just me. Su27 feels great though.

That's a shame :( I also have this weird bug that puts my rudder to the left or right while on the ground. A major frustration point..

Don't think I experience the F-15 like you, it's almost the opposite with the Su-27. The Su-27 for me is unexplainable hard to fly.. The nose wants to go up ALL the time. Flying low speed is hard, landing speed feels 100+ faster than with the F-15..

Sometimes I wonder if ED is giving us all different versions of the game because I don't seem to have any of those problems you're talking about  For me the F-15 in the air is nothing more than a balancing act to stay upright. It is never stable for me. The Su27 is nearly perfect, except for that I no longer have control over ACS (aka Vodka Mode). Idk, the game is still a work in progress I guess.

lol! It won't be this cheap again for a while.

Also only 8 days left of Winter 2014... surely OP will deliver. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=129972

Then again, I really only care about the Nevada map.

It was a map made for 2.0 right? You can scrap that one from your 2014 whistlist 👎

So now ED have their own sale I bought a couple of modules. I don't know why but Steam screws up with USD to EUR. For example the Mig-21, 50% sale on ED: 49,99 USD to 24,99 USD is 20.52 EUR.
On Steam: From 45,99 EUR to 22.99 EUR. 👎

Got me the Huey, Mi-8, F-86 and Combined Arms. I'm free from work 5th of January till 5th of February so you know what I'll be doing

edit;
Hawk in sale too!
Hawk_Xmas_Sale.jpg

If you are interested, I fly it regularly. It has a clickable cockpit but it is not hard to operate. Pretty easy actually. Of course it is still work in progress..

edit;
Really something else these choppers!!

Loving the Huey, even if I can't get the door gunner aiming to work.

It has soooo much blade energy as well, you can turn the throttle down, pick it up, turn it around, and set it down again. Not like an R22 where you have 1.2 seconds until catastrophic rotor RPM decay.

Haven't tried out the Huey yet. I have been told it is quite hard to fly so I began with the Mi-8. I'll give it a go soon!

Now I have rudder pedals it so relaxing to fly. I don't have to reach for the keyboard anymore only if I want to take screenshot or something. So much more relaxing, did a 5 hour flight two days ago and only had to stop because I had a wooden arse.

Trackir, Hotas and pedals are really a golden combo  Started buying trackir first a few weeks ago and now look

It is a bit tricky.
I've never flown one in real life but I'd imagine it would be more stable than an R22, in game it's alright but you don't have the feel to help you make the minute adjustments.
A lot of fun though, I was having a blast just doing takeoffs, power turns, and autorotations.

Got my TrackIR5 early as well.:D

Was practicing in the F-15 and it's soooooo nice. Set up a 16v16 with F-15s and SU-27s and was killing it, so much easier to keep track of targets and get a snapshot off with the gun in a furball now.

Take a look at this; http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=129611
It's an HD cockpit mod for the F-15!

We should try to get in the air together some time :) It would be nice if you guys could join me and some other Dutch guys. If you ever see a server called something like Gathering of Tweakers, please join! The password is always GoT . We try formation flying, ILS landings with almost no visibility (fog), flying in heavy winds, target practicing, air to ground, air to air..

Ohhhh, people even say it improved FPS.

Yeah for sure, what aircraft do you fly?

IFR is fun, I set the weather to the lowest visibility I could, and then tried landing the 25T.
Could only see the runway about 200 metres away, put it down bang on the spot.:D

Oh nice! To be honest I haven't tried it yet, the other guys were doing it when I was still trying to get my A-10C in the air  Start up procedure is pretty hard to remember..

Usually we fly with the FC3 models and the A-10. Sometimes the Hawk. I'll ask to put some choppers in the missions too. Best time to check if we are up is Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I'll try to post it here when we go online 👍

If you want to talk with us, we are on Teamspeak too. srv.tuxplace.nl. One request, please set your nickname as this: Nickname | Surname. Teamspeak is not a requirement so feel free to use the in game chat!

Haven't downloaded the F-15 cockpit mod yet, will do when I get the time. Probably this weekend. Higher FPS is a nice bonus too!

What is the hardest plane to start up, and how quickly have you guys been able to complete the procedure? Just curious.

Probably the A-10C, the avionics are more complex than the KA-50.

The KA-50 I can be combat ready from cold in about 3-4 mintues.

The FC3 models are all pretty arcade like with starting up. For F-15C for example, you start engines by hitting right alt + home and right ctrl + home. Nav lights is ctrl+l and cockpit start up was right shift + l if I remember correctly. Then just L to illuminate the cockpit and alt+L for nose wheel light.

Easiest simulated aircraft to start up must be the Hawk. Ignition switch, batteries, fuel cock lever, engine start standby, relay switch, engine start, when engine 15% put throttle to idle, wait engine to reach 60% and you are good to go. While waiting for engine to spool up you can activate the navigation and weapons.

With A-10C you are going all over the cockpit to activate all sort of things, in the training mission start up takes around 13 minutes..

You can usually cut the training time at least in half. Biggest thing with the 50 is making sure the navigation systems have the time to align and set themselves up.

Still haven't read up on a lot of the more in depth ABRIS stuff though, so many submenus...

What UTC time do you plan on starting?

The Huey slot is tempting but I'm not proficient enough with it yet.

I'll probably go in a 50, or an F-15 if no Blacksharks are available.

I just read the description of that mission and it says if any Hueys are spawned there are no KA-50'S available. F-15 is no problem, I'll probably choose for that too!

UTC is same as GMT and I'm GMT +1 (or UTC +1).

Edit:
lol you asked how late sorry. Between 7 and 8 UTC.

I'm pretty sure the Huey spawn will replace the Blackhawks, not the Blacksharks. Still need the 50s to provide CAS.

Is that 7pm or am?
PM works really good for me as it would be 2-3pm. I'm at the Toronto bike show tomorrow but I should be back by that time.

Oh and you might have to translate stuff for me if everyone is speaking Dutch.:P

My bad :D

No problem I will try translate. Is in-game chat okay for you?

That is PM 👍

Have fun at the show!

It might work for the 50, but there's no way typing would work for the F-15.
I could just listen in on the teamspeak and ask you if they need the helo to put down fire anywhere, or judge the situation off of how panic'd everyone sounds.

Ok, I wasn't planning on flying until 4am.:P

Thanks, I'll try and be back around 2-3 and hopefully the internet cooperates.

Many swear words are spoken in English these days so easy to tell

@Bopop4 They decided to do it earlier on the day, then the guy who should host tonight now has joystick problems :indiff: I'm not sure if there is going to be a server tonight. I'll let you know!

Alright, I'm going to be home hours from now anyways.

Hopefully we can get online even if it's in a training server or something.

Guys I just got the MiG 21 and the Mi-8. Anyone know how to look around the cockpit? It's not the usual "LAlt+C".

Whoops it's Shift+LAlt+C

Edit 2: The MiG 21 is my favorite plane in the game, the way it flys and miniscule details have won me over. I just need some time to learn it.
