the other day i bought Star Trek StarFleet Commander 3 and so i installed the game and pressed the play button but all that happened is the game logo appears and after a few minutes i get an error report and the whole thing closes down. after downloading the newest patch off their website and getting the newest drivers for my graphics card i still have the same problem. my PC meets the requirements for the game and i'm using windows xp pro with a voodoo 3 card.
any help would be appreciated
cheers

You really really need to get another Gfx card. The GF4's are going fairly cheap these days..

It sounds like your video card drivers are crashing. The Voodoo 3 is no longer supported by 3DFX (nVidia), so updating drivers won't help. You can find good deals on GeForce 4 cards now, it's time for a new video card.

If you can't afford a new Vid card (A no name GF2 should cost you about 20-30 dollars max) then there are websites that support the old Voodoo cards with drivers created by talanted fans of 3dfx. Look around a bit and I'm sure you will be able to find some.

i decided not to get a new PC so i might get a new graphics card for my current one. i looked around and found a 64Mb XFX Geforce 4MX 440SE card, i dont know much about them so would this be sufficient for my PC as it only costs £34 ($54)
heres the spec of the website:
MEMORY: 64MB DDR
VGA OUT: YES
DVI OUT: NO
TV OUT: YES
CHIPSET: GEFORCE4 MX440
DVI-CRT ADAPTOR: NO
DVD SOFTWARE: NO
CABLE: NO
PACKAGING: RETAIL BOXED
AGP: 4X

Don't get a GF4 MX card unless you have a really really old Video card. The GF4 MX cards are actually only a slight bit faster than the Geforce 2's.

Dude, my 8500 has an S-Vid out for TV's, and it also has dual-monitor, 64MB, and I got it a while ago, over a year ago.

I can now safely say - don't get MX cards. My old computer is a Pentium 4 1.6ghz, 256mb SD Ram and a GeForce 4 MX 440. I installed Splinter Cell and it ran like crap - never have I seen such a bad frame rate!
