PC users get DLC for free

I honestly dont have any grudge against PC players but thats really a bit unfair. All in all they now pay 30 Euros less and get a far superior product. I can understand any console player that feels ripped off.

Especially with still NOT A SINGLE FRACKIN WORD on patch 1.03 for consoles to stop the goddamn freezing. :ouch:

PC gamers for the most part get the better deals, they get the game to begin with £15-20 cheaper than the console versions, they usually get patches and DLC for free, the graphics are better (if your a PC gamer its likely your running good hardware), they don't pay for online gaming, they get loads of great mods, they can do what they want with the PC and can't easily fix / change parts if any break.

The only disadvantages are that you have to be constantly upgrading your machine which can be more expensive than buying a console and more dev's are focusing on console versions these days so you might get a bad PC port or no release at all.

Robin.

Honestly, it isnt fair, but I am glad for the PC folks (I am...or was mostly PC), and usually they get the raw end. Devs ARE more focused on consoles due to how many and how easy it is to develop for them.

Now, my point is, with consoles making a majority of sales for S2, WHY oh WHY do Dev's post and support the PC's, and yet, we get no updates? I dont get it.

Word has it that its because SMS are hardcore PC sim racers themselves plus on PCs there is no interference from Sony or Microsoft on information and conversation.

I asked the active main PC dev if he could tell me who is the person in charge for consoles but unfortunately I got no answer yet.

I get that, but when your paycheck is made mostly by consoles, a quick, "hey, we are close to finishing the patch etc. etc." should be a priority.

SMS's paycheck is the same regardless. EA are the ones you need to be waving pitchforks at, as they control the approval and timing of patches

Thats not the point. If it was coming out tomorrow, next week or next year, SMS can let us know. Even if its hey the ball is in EA's court now....or EA has pushed it to Sony....or even BETTER....yes there will be a patch to fix ____ issues.

I dont care about the release, I am disturbed at the lack of communication. SMS has no problem posting on the nogripracing forum about status of this or that. I just feel we need the same. So, I am going with SMS being rather lame :)

Well, DLC like this (also "Limited Edition" content) gets hacked/unlocked quite easily, specially if the files are already in game. It would make no sense trying to make PC users pay for something that could be unlocked by changing some 0s and 1s.

I just don't get how the PC gamers get more in terms of forum response from SMS then the console players foot the bill for everything and get nothing free?

People complaining about PC users getting the better end of the stick  Have you ever seen all the bugs and such PC gamers have to deal with, along with keeping update to on equipment, etc? Not to mention PC gamers have been use to free DLC since the Internet existed. There is this one game that is really famous that was basically DLC of Half Life. Oh yeah, Counter Strike. PC gamers aren't use to paying for this crap, while console gamers are use to it and have no choice.

From what I understand by reading the Shift-related threads at NoGripRacing.com where the SMS guys regularly post:

A) Of the two patches already released for the console, so far, only the first one v1.0.1 was released for the PC.

B) The second patch for the PC that roughly corresponds to the v.102 patch already released for the consoles will be released along with the PC DLC.

So what I am trying to say is that PCs are only on v1.0.1 and will update to v1.0.2 with the release of DLCs, consoles are already running v1.0.2.

Correction, DrJustice Said:
The PC 1.01 patch is the same as console patches 1.01 + 1.02. I.e. console and PC is currently at the same patch level, even though the patch version numbers are different.

I have seen the thread here on GTPlanet regarding v 1.0.3 release for PS3 but I personally have not seen info on that anywhere else.

...and I do agree that after two patches, NFS S2U on my PS3 Slim is still too buggy, and needs more work.

FYI: The Ferrari, and Exotics DLCs were never made available for the PC version of Shift 1, although they eventually got it through mods.

Life is never fair, PS3 console users never got the Ferrari DLC for Shift 1, and PS3 does not get the Dr. Pepper Camaro DLC for NFS S2U.

Please correct me if I am in misinformed or ignorant of any info.

I really could care less if they give the entire game and a pair of boots for free to PC users... good for them... everyone knows that there must already be a full cracked version of the game for PCs out there... so I dont blame EA for trying to make people get the game in a legit way.
I just want my PS3 game (the one I bought with hard earned money) fixed and running smothly

If anything, in my opinion, the PC platform deserves less than more because of this. And I don't know why the "same software" should be so much less for the PC (and FREE DLC's). I don't care if the answer is development costs. I haven't purchased the SpeedHunters DLC and now this give me another reason why I probably won't. It would be nice if SMS/EA would create a communication channel with the console crowd.

PC version is cracked but not the patched version.. I own the game legitimately and this was a great surprise! Pc version is heaps better than the console version, but I have a fairly fast pc, so I guess I'm lucky. Only thing is the G25 Settings that always trouble me before you find the correct ones.

Once you play shift 2, it's hard to get back to GT5 :/ Never played it since..

^ Why comment?

If you investigated it properly and did some research, you'd actually find Shift 2's physics engine is a lot closer to 'real' than GT5's. But hey, bugger looking things up, that might disagree with my opinion which is awesome and all knowing.

It sucks that the GT series has built such a strong opinion in so many that it is the bees knees and peope feel it's necessary to intrude on other game threads to say so :(

I think the main reason I found it hard to go back to GT5 is because Shift 2 is a lot more exciting.

I thought this thread was about PC users getting a free DLC...must be wrong, though.

Not that the DLC was the most expensive ever for S2U but WFT? I paid for it and even more for the ps3 version of the game...:dunce:

I had always thought that the Devs were paid commissions or something similar on games and DLC, but it seems that they just get paid a certain amount by the publisher to make the game content and profits then go to the publisher. Therefore I'm glad it's free on PC because I can then enjoy the extra content without feeling bad for boosting EA's coffers :)

The engine may well be more realistic, certainly in areas like tire modeling it is, but the on track results aren't.

Back on topic. It sucks that they pulled a 180 from what was expected. When the game first came out, it was assumed the PC version would be lacking DLC completely due to things said in interviews. I'm sure that led more than a few people to fall down on the console side of the fence.

Hmmm but flying over the jump 30 feet in the air on the Northern Ring track and landing as if one of the Dukes of Hazard boys is realistic results? Come on now. I find Shift2 much more "realistic" as far as games go...I dont consider GT5 or S2 a "simulator".

Also they never said there was NOT going to be dlc for the PC. People assumed that because of Shift1's lack of DLC for PC. Shift1 sold more on consoles than the PC just like S2. I dont think people chose console over PC for that reason....because with the PC you can pretty much mod anything anyway. I do see your point though.
