PD, bring back heavy ghosting please!

All these dirty driving experiences are really frustrating, especially considering the penalty system. In GT5, if ghosting was on in a lobby, big collisions wouldn't happen because you would ghost right through each other(minor collisions would still happen).

I know it's not a perfect solution but if PD can't come up with something better, they can at least bring this back because right now, I think GT5 had better online experiences than GT Sport. GTS is still good, but there's loads of room for improvement.

It's only Weak in S - B (maybe C) SR ratings, Strong in others. It's assumed people of those ratings aren't poor at driving in a pack and don't think they can do hotlap-pace corner entry even though someone using a different line / approach is 1 meter infront.

I agree with it too to be honest, I think it used to be "OFF" for S drivers, that was sketchy, but now at 'WEAK' stationary cars are often ghosted, stopping road-blocking pileups sometimes, it's a nice compromise.

Really winds me up when people slam on late into turn 1 lap 1 at full pace, aimlessly slamming into everyone because everyone else slowed to not hit the car in-front. As has been stated many times, driving in a pack safely means not always driving at full speed. (not aimed at you, but for anyone else reading, if the shoe fits)

Ghosting has upsides and downsides...
No few times people get advantage of being ghosted (by brake testing) to overtake the other players who are slower exiting the corner because they are racing each other and cannot take the best lines. The ghosted player can make a slow in, fast out and take the ideal racing line, because can go through the other cars.

I maintain that this applies all the time. Why race each other from the get go when we can follow for a lap or 2 without slowing each other down and see if we can catch others further ahead? The exception being when the following car is clearly a second or more faster. No point jumping into a battle and slowing each other down for one position, when potentially we could catch a group of 3 other racers first and then try and fight over 4 positions.

But patience is peoples biggest failure in online racing. Always has been, probably always will be. Its imperative to try for every position and win the race at any cost within 5 laps. Its a 10 lap race but noone seems to care what length it actually is when they have this attitude. Or that crashing 5 times in 3 laps costs them (and 1-5 others) around 30 secs in race time and is counter productive. End rant.

When I end up in second early on I tend to stick behind the guy in first and let us get away from the pack before making a move, same principle :) it's easier to pass when you're not having to defend / getting punted off

Most the morons racing online don’t realise they arent capable of winning. They must pass everyone into the first corner by any means possible. I give room to the car in front and some idiot comes barrelling straight through the back of me. Patience is the key in my eye for at least the first lap

To be honest I find ghosting be really annoying outside of track re-entry and extreme dive bombing, I can't stand it when I take a defensive line into a corner or attempt a clean pass on the inside, but then one of us gets ghosted so the other car can just drive straight through me. I'd actually rather have a collision as at least the other driver might learn that you can't just drive through other cars (might being the key word there).

Had a really annoying one yesterday where there was an NSX behind me and 2 cars in front, the 2 cars in front were battling hard and so myself and the NSX got a great run on them into a straight. I saw a gap to pass them both but one of them swerved in front of me and I had to let off the throttle momentarily, then the NSX behind me ghosted through all of us and gained 4 places through just keeping his foot buried and driving directly through the cars in front.

Well today at Dragon Trail.. at the bus stop chicane, the second part.. many people crashing there and it is just impossible to not ran in to them while i do everything to not hit them... Had a nice and fair race untill then... and after that my race was over.. from p6 to p15, negative SR and a 10 second penalty.... some places just NEED ghosting.....
