PD could greatly benefit from outside developer assistance.

Do you M.M. and E.S. could help P.D. bring GT to a higher level of greatness?

TL;DR cheat sheet: GT could be a much better series with the help of Media Molecule and Evolution Studios. End of story...

Let's face it. As great a developer PD may be, they could use some outside influence to help development progression and depth on certain aspects of the series.

We all know PD has large ambitions with the GT series that just aren't there yet (incomplete features and those that lack in polish),due to their small team in comparison to their goals.

With the PS4, development should be easier for them to make their games and decrease time consuming complications that may have been met on the PS3, allowing for potentially better quality build of games. :sly:

However; Even with that, I feel things could be even better for the GT series if Sony were to allocate a number of outside developing hands from other teams (obviously ones that aren't already busy with another game) to help enhance/complete features in GT that are incomplete/missing/dull. :odd:

I feel the perfect teams for the job would be members from Evolution Studios and Media Molecule. Drive Club will be complete LONG before GT7 arrives and M.M. has some VERY talented tool creators, which opens up a huge opportunity for non occupied developers to help with product quality increases.

Features I feel that could be improved 💡:

1. Course Editor: M.M could be completely revamped it and turn it into a full TRACK CREATOR, so we no longer have to deal with limited presets, automatically set by the game.

2. Customization: So many cars, so little time to develope custom parts and indepth painting tools. E.S. would be perfect to build parts for the cars, while M.M. builds the paint tools.

3. Vehicle/Car Creator (if reasonable): M.M. has the skills for the tools and E.S. knows all about creating fictional vehicles. Together they could bring this new feature to the GT franchise and change its standing in the industry, beyond where it is now.

4. Polish: Controls and Graphics performance/visuals/features etc.; GT has some ugly blemishes, which could be spit shined to perfection if either of the other teams help it.

5. Other things I can't think of right now.

It can be done, Sony just needs to step up their A-game and P.D. needs to learn to open up. :banghead:

What do you guys think? :gtpflag:

That's a lot of variables. It's hard to say what path would be the best. Either way I'm all for anything that increases core game play features while not sacrificing quality. I have to admit I think GT6 is lacking in a lot of features.

While the idea of having existing studios working together on one game is nice, they all have their own projects and goals in the long-run.

A more realistic alternative would be to outsource specific time-consuming tasks like sound recording/testing/generation or aftermarket parts 3D modeling to separate teams. From what I gather, PD is very prideful in the modeling of the cars and tracks in GT (rightfully so). Aside from outsourcing, they really just need to hire and expand the team.

No replacement for displacement, so to speak.

Hahaha that's not how outsourcing works , and games that have things outsourced are notably very cheep.. the last of us had some level sections outsourced they were far under quality.. .

I don't see PD doing a mix with these two teams, because PD is japanese, and they work how they know. One think I wanted to see is a mix between Naughty Dog and Media Molecule, you know for what :sly:

No way.

PD is a Japanese company. That means they do everything perfectly and use Bento boxes for lunch. They're thin and handsome and pay attention to details unlike fat and lazy Western developers (I think we know who).

GT is already the best sim in the world (better than iRacing and AC, even) and any outside intervention would turn it arcade. Kaz knows that the only thing that matters is developing in a vacuum, safely away from Western ideas.

That's what keeps GT a pure car encyclopedia with limited player interaction and 23 RX-7s.

:odd: I think I see what you did there...

No one might agree with me but I wish they hired Genki (Tokyo Xtreme Racer yo) to do their body kits :D and bring in all the Overpowered ass cars from TXR, and I loved the body kits but that's just me.

I think the issue is more direction. While rotating astronomy is cool, premium cars are cooler. While videos with celebrities are fancy to advertise, being able to effectively race modify any car in the game is cooler.
They're pushing the boundaries of the PS3, but with stuff most players aren't looking at most of the time.

Of course I'm still anxious for GT6, but I've tempered expectations to an exact duplicate of current GT5 with new content. (and all cars able to buy in dealers!)
Not because nothing's changed, just because other than new tracks and cars, I honestly can't name a thing that concerns me that I'm actually sure is in the game. All the stuff that's neat, but I don't really care about, is definitely in, as per usual.
From what I've heard so far, most of what I wanted is not. The amount of new content is still worth $60 without it tbh.

Just wish I'll get the 'Agera Venom M3 GTS Black Series' and the 'F10 235i MC Stradale CTR3'.

Those 2 cars from #Driveclub are really special. :D

Seriously though, the quality is there after all.

(Dreams of a grand future where all licensed car driving games can share their car models with the amount of detail scaled up or down as required.)

I'm probably too ignorant to comment on whether other devs will improve/revolutionise the production process, but I do also wonder if there would be better quality consistency of assets if other developers poked their noses in.

(Starts a self-rant/monologue on why most premiums aren't good enough, blah, blah, blah...)

I don't have an opinion on this matter. PD might appear to rather inefficient but the fact that we hardly know anything about them makes it very hard to make valid guesses.

I think help in premium car modeling is a good idea but the rest should be fully handled by PD

I think it should be the other way around. Let PD get on with the modelling, and have someone else figure out all the gameplay stuff.

 Those poll options kill me!

To be serious, PD's got this.

At first I wanted to shout NOOO.
But now That I think of it, it would be nice to have Driveclub with GT physics and tracks. :D
Or GT witch DC graphics.

But who knows what PD can do for next gen.

PD has already done an amazing job with the graphics on the PS3. They will blown everyone out of the water on the PS4. Driveclub does not seem too impressive graphics wise.

This really doesn't fit into PD's corporate culture I'm afraid. Although I can see ICE Team handing over/developing some tech for PD.

I still wonder why PD and Evolution Studios don't share assets? Maybe they do and we just don't know it. I've heard some devs from Studio Liverpool moved to ES after its closing, those guys were immensly talented, IMO their F1 game (F1 CE) is still the best one from last gen, not to mention their still great locking 60fps racer W:HD
