PD - fix onboard shadows! It's too dark!

It would be so easily fixable... Just let us TURN ON the indicators light whenever we want... And that´s all.

I can´t see how that would be difficult for PD to understand or code

The problem is simple, dashboards are designed to stop glare from direct sunlight making them hard to see.

The game does this but like most shadows in game they are to harsh.

The fix is not dashboard lights but a new interior light source around what would be eye level aimed at the dash keeping its lighting far more constant.

Gee, I see nothing wrong with this one. I actually like the fact that it's dark, that's how it is in real life, is it not?

No it's not. The idea is from real life but the implementation is not. No matter what daytime and which direction you drive in real life, you will always be able to read the speedo and tacho, i.e. you'll know what speed you are doing.

In GT6 though, there are times when you can't see anything on the dashboard. You have no idea what speed you are doing, etc. The shadows are too strong, too black. They must be much much lighter and then it'll be ok.

Ahh I see. In that case, I'm not too bothered with it, although with the hud off..... Ahh crap. o_o

yeah there are some players who want The Real Driving Simulation, so they turn OFF HUD , etc ;)
Oh you won this round, but next time. NEXT TIME.

lol

Shift 2 has the best lightning both out and inside the car I've ever seen, I don't get this fascination of overly contrasted interiors that both GT and FM use. First of all, true black does not exist in real life unless there's no light at all which would basically mean you can't see the object. In a sunny day, it would be impossible not to see an object, it's not like you can see portions of the dash and others you can't see because light bounces of the objects in multiple directions meaning that everything gets exposure.

Now of course, TVs can't replicate the levels of contrast that the human eye can percieve but this common belief that high contrast and dark shadows looks "cool" is just wrong.

I love the interior views on Shift 2.

Man I was reminded of this mess of interior lighting last night when I booted GT6 up again after a long hiatus, one of the seasonal events is at Willow Springs (forget the car that is used) and I just cannot drive from the interior view because it's like looking at a massively over exposed picture from inside the car. Everything is washed out in light and looks terrible. I change camera views and bam, the lighting is fine.. I don't understand this lighting system PD is using in GT, it seems to change between cars and tracks. Ugh so frustrating.

Found a trick that reduces black crush on all ps3 games ( really makes tomb raider an amazingly better game graphically), see if it helps you guys... Turn deep color OFF under display options; makes a world of difference on my plasma. It's an easy and free possibility for all! My plasma allows for deep color so I am not sure why this works, but all ps3 games have less black crush now FYI ( at least on my Sammy e8000). Hope this helps some!

I remember trying this (and all other) settings in PS3 menu, but no difference at all. LCD here.

BTW, Patch 1.08 - no fixes. Even trying Senna content, you get black dashboard on certain track parts.
