Before you get too excited after reading the title of this thread, allow me to explain that this replay manager won't fulfill all our OLR needs when dealing with GT4 replays, including those crazy names that our replay devices create when uploading to our PC's. However, it should make our lives easier when trying to indentify a certain replay, thus reducing errors greatly when submitting replays.

I won't go into detail of what the application can and cannot do, instead I simply ask you to try it out and suck it and see for yourself.

The application should be able to read every GT4 replay and give as much information relating to each replay as possible.

Here's a couple of screenshots:

Although the application has been tested (thanks to Kel, Niels, Dion and MisterWeary for testing and suggestions), it comes 'as is' and used at your own risk.

EDIT

PDQ's Replay Manager will be back up soon.

what a great idea:tup:

i have to try this one when i get home. really smart application:tup:

I'll give it a go for sure! 👍

Did you build this yourself sphinx? I get that impression from the way you say it's been tested.

Yes, he built it himself from scratch.

Its a very good replay program and helps immensly for license replays as it tells you the exact license its from.
It also helps with other replays, providing as much info as possible to help you best identify the replay.

Great work 👍

Very nicely done Sphinx old bean!

It would be nice if it left the re-named replay in the original folder it came from, but otherwise it's spot-on!

Now all we have to do is to max all our weekly replays over to the pc in one operation, and then sort them with this app!

Again well done mate, very impressed! 👍 👍 👍

You'll get some reps for this when I can do it!

Neil

Interesting work and congratulations. I attempted to do something similar in May last year but didn't make much progress and gave up.

Would you mind revealing either your source or the exact format of the replay file, please?

Nice work Sphinx. 👍

I'll give this a go, only this week I had trouble working out which replay was which as I usually empty the max drive before moving my WRS replay.

I wouldn't know where to start creating something like this, programming goes way above what I can do with my computer. Tick ticked. :)

Great to have this manager, thanks! When I launch the program it looks for a Microsoft Word 2000 component for some reason. Is anyone else having this issue? The program runs fine after I cancel the Word warnings...

I'm glad you like it and I hope it helps 👍

@amp88 & Dr_Watson,
At the moment I'm still loooking into a few things regarding the replay file. Once I'm done, which will be straight after BC6, I'll post my findings. 👍
I don't think what I'm doing is anything new, perhaps I was the only one mad enough to take it on. :dopey:

@Neil.
sorry about that. The reason was more of a personal preference, naughty I know, but hey ;) I really didn't like the idea of having to direct the app to rename and move the replay to a different location each and every time a replay was renamed (I normally rename directly from the Max Drive). If it proves to be a pain for many then I'll change it on the next update.

@jake73.
Can you PM the exact error you're getting and when you get the error. Are you getting the error everytime you open the app, or was it during installation?

Congrats Dad on an excellent piece of kit ;) 👍

me sphinx you smarter than you let on :P

Well done

Interesting job, Sphinx. A very useful tool. 👍

Any project to accept all versions of GT4 (japanese, asian, korean) ?
And adapt it for TT replays ?
Files can be sent if needed. ;)

Send me the files and I'll have a look.

Upload them here.

hey, here is a screenshot of the error...

Thanks Jake, I'll look into it and get back to you.

One thing you could try to overcome the problem is to actually insert the office disc and allow it to do whatever it feels that it needs to do. It's worth a shot whilst waiting for me to get back to you.

Jake,

Method 1:
"The easiest way to resolve this problem is to start any of the Office 2000 programs. When you start an Office program, the necessary information is automatically written into the Windows registry. At this point, you can quit the Office program and then start the third-party program. The Windows Installer does not appear, because it no longer needs to repair the missing registry information."

If this doesn't resolve the problem then go here and try the other 2 methods.

Hope this helps.

I guess the problem came from an uncomplete install of Microsoft Office. Once you complete the first install, there's something that must be installed once one of the Office program is run. Run any of them and give it the CD it needs so Windows can fully complete the install of Office and maybe prevent the problem you had when trying to install GT4 PDQ's Replay Manager.

Hey there, great job! If I'd figured out how to read the new format, I'd have updated my GT3 replay manager long ago!

Let me know if you want some help with your program, I could help you get all the features from the previous version in there fairly easily I think. You can even have my project (VB.NET).

Cheers Arwin,
Your GT3 Replay Manager is the bees knees mate. 👍 👍 I’ll contact you via PM later today (after work) to discuss how/if we can take this further. 👍

Flat-out
From what we know, the garage seems to use blocks of 64 bytes (when you save a game, then save it again, the only difference is a 64 bytes block), and there are in the game some 'shstr' routines from which we can assume that something is encrypted by a string shifting method.
I've done a few operations (XOR, left shift) on 256-byte thumbnails coming from the same race, with no big result : the XORed binary still looks random ; the left shifted binary looks more like a real file (much more null bytes) but still no obvious data or pattern.
In the elf file, I've found references to SHA-1 and MD5 encryption algorithms.
The solution can be on this way. Not sure.

This is what I get when I open an NTSC replay:
NTSC.JPG

In the 'Format Type' section it should read the file as an NTSC replay but it doesn't. Is this the same for you, MW or anyone else who want's to help?
