Penalties: General Discussion

I couldn't find a specific thread for this. I'm trying to compile what all players can be penalized for and how everyone feels about the system. This has obviously been discussed all over the place, but again, I'd like to have a centralized reference for it.

I bring this up because I got a penalty today which I thought was for overtaking (as you can see by the title) but other people are telling me it was because I cut the "corner".



It would be nice if the game would explain specifically what the penalties are given for.

I think it's a penalty for track limits. If it was for the overtake i think it would've shown the yellow flag.
Speaking of yellow flag penalties, how am i supposed to slow down and not overtake a car that has it's headlights towards me? PD crazy y'all!

There's so many things wrong with it that I really can't be bothered to type it all.

I've just accepted it and actually started to play a bit more. Hopfully PD will fix it.

Yes that's a minor 'off track' penalty. Overtaking under yellows is at least a five second one, maybe more.
