Performance boost after oil change

I use Gran Turismo since day 1 but I always wanted to ask one question concerning oil changes. When you change the oils on a car of 300bhp for example you earn about 10-15 bhp and I wanted to ask how is this possible.
I'm not talking about used cars which may have 100,000 miles, I'm talking about new cars with 0 mileage.
Thanks.

Dealers always skimp on stuff like good oil and tires. Switching out to race oil can give you more HP at the wheel. For example, in my race bike I used 0w-20 oil, and actually used less than recommended in the engine, in order to give the engine less resistance when revving.

engine oil makes a huge difference in engine performance and efficiency. But it doesnt add power.
If the engine parts move with less friction, it will be more efficient...thats all

i doubt you gain 15hp IRL. more like 1 to 5 horses. The game is a bit exaggerated when it comes to this.

Depends what oil you use :sly:

You are changing out regular motor oil for synthetic motor.

Synthetic motor oil can increase horsepower by reducing friction between the moving parts of an internal combustion engine. This includes but is not limited to the cylinder wall to piston interface, camshaft lobes, engine bearings, and valve springs. The smaller, more uniform molecules of the synthetic oil provide increased lubricity to motor parts allowing them to operate more freely. Increased torque and horsepower to the drive wheels is the result.

This is probably not the case in GT5 but it may offer an explanation.

its all fine.. but what about High performance cars like Aston martin, Ferrari, lambo etc.. I highly doubt they use low quality oil... lol in this area GT is weird in my eyes also.. at least they could explain it somewhere :)

Thank you all for your answers. I assumed that it would be some type of "racing" oil but I found the HP increase a little bit unreal. As in real-life cars the boost you gain from high quality oils is not over 5 HP in the very best occasion.

Have you done a dyno test before and after an oil change? How do you know this?

I've seen a Quaker state (if Im not mistaken) commercial a while ago that says it "unleashed 15 horses". The motto was, "unleash your horses" lol.

Its those cheap dealership owners in Gran Turismo. When the car arrives from the factory they drain the good oil and put in cheap stuff. Then then sell the good oil to their buddies at GT Auto for you to pay to have it put back into your car.

Gee I hope you aren't paying for your own engines, as that sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Personally I overfill the oil on all my race cars to compensate for sloshing during high g turns.

Like others said, simply, the GT Auto oil change uses better motor oil -- synthetic oil, racing oil... call it what you want. This superior lubricating engine oil reduces friction inside the motor and allows it to deliver more power, this is justl like in real life, although the amounts of actual power gains are debatable.

I LOLed... thanks 👍
