Pescarolo C60 2004 vs. Mazda 787B

The Nissan R92CP and Nissan 89C beat the Mazda on everything exept handling/driveability.

oh yeah, what about the Nissan R92CP? hows that car compared to the 787B? (seems like the 787B is winning everyone)

While personal skill and preference plays a large roll, using the AI and/or 10,000 B-spec driver to eliminate driver influence, the R92CP often beats the best times of the 787B.


I am very close to completing my analysis of the AI performance in the 24 hours of Le Mans (Circuit de la Sarthe I), and will post this data when I am finished. So far, after running more than nine testing sessions, and logging a minimum of 9,000 miles on each AI car, and in some cases more than 20,000 miles, I have been able to rank the AI cars as follows:

1. 1989 Mercedes_ Sauber Mercedes C 9
2. 1992 Nissan___ R92CP
3. 1991 Mazda____ 787B
4. 1989 Nissan___ R89C
5. 2001 Audi_____ R8
6. 1999 BMW______ V12 LMR
7. 2004 Pescarolo PlayStation C60/Judd
8. 1999 Toyota___ GT-One (TS020)
9. 2003 Bentley__ Speed 8
10. 2003 Pescarolo Courage C60/Peugeot
11. 1998 Nissan___ R390 GT1
12. 1998 Panoz____ Esperante GTR-1
13. 2000 Dodge____ Viper GTS-R Team Oreca
14. 2000 Chevrolet Corvette C5R (C5)

The Sauber was hands down the best performer, beating the 2nd best, R92CP an average of two laps each race.

The R92CP, consistently beat the 787B by an average of one lap.

The 787B was able to beat the R89C an average of 1 1/4 laps.

After those four, there is a significant drop in performance down to the R8 & LMR which on average finished 8 laps behind the Sauber.

Then there is another significant drop in performance down to the PlayStation C60 & GT-One, both of whom averaged about 10-11 laps behind the Sauber.

The Speed 8 finishes a lap behind those two, and the Courage C60 a lap behind the Speed 8.

Then there is a big drop in performance down to the R390 which finishes 22 laps behind the Sauber.

One more big drop takes us to the Esperante at about 13 laps behind the R390.

This leaves the two GT cabooses, Viper GTS-R & Corvette C5R which on average finish a whopping 45-50 laps behind the Sauber.


It's nice seeing the Sauber Mercedes C9 perform as well as it does on Circuit de la Sarthe I, as I have always felt it was one of the more under appreciated cars, and not only fun to drive with a wonderful engine/exhaust noise, but a top performer at that.


I hope this info helps shed some light on the subject. When I am finished with the testing, I'll post more specific data on these AI LM cars for the 24hrs @ Le Mans event.

edit: i tried out the sauber and does it rock......i think i'm going to move from the 787B and on to the Sauber now. i may go back to the 787B sometime though

IMO the R92CP will give the Sauber a major run for the money + the Nissan always finish the race! "IN the real world"

This is a test of most LMP/GTP/Group C cars in GT4, and the 787B certainly is one of the very best Le Mans racers in the game!

In the right hands yes. It is not nearly as forgiving as the modern LMP cars like the Audi, BMW LMR, Pescarolos, and Bentley, which is probably why so many GT4 drivers prefer them (that and the fact that at least the Audi and Peskys play such prominant rolls in the current LMP race circuit that they have a much larger personal fan base).

However, once mastered, or in the hands of the AI/10,000pt B-spec drivers the Sauber shows up most of the other equally equipped and driven LM cars fairly easily. The Minolta 88C-V is still capable overall of producing some of the fastest lap times though.

My only complaint regarding the Sauber is its rather dull battleship gray/silver paint job that makes it look like it hasn't been washed in years.

Yeah, the 787's predecessor, the 767, but they were outlawed after the 787's victory.
